On KHOW radio here in Denver they just reported that the suspect’s mother is being interviewed by ABC news and is saying that “you have the right guy”, and she is flying to Denver as soon as possible. Sounds like she wasn’t surprised that this happened, for whatever that’s worth at the moment.

People were desperately trying to connect the VA Tech shooter to Islam for months.

Personally I hate when people jump to rash conclusions in the first few hours after something like this happens and this is why I try to withhold making rash conclusions and wait to see what comes out.

The same sort of thing happens whenever there is a train derailment, industrial explosion, car running into a crowd, a random shooting by some lone psycho; unfortunately some immediately knee jerk that it must have been a Muslim terrorist or an illegal and when it comes out that is wasn’t, some even seem disappointed. It’s almost as if some people are looking for the next 9-11 and are disappointed when it doesn’t happen. Quite frankly this sort of thing makes conservatives look bad. OTOH, the knee jerk reactions from the left and from the pop psychologists are just as bad.

At the end of the day, the families of the people who died or those who are seriously injured and their families probably don’t care one wit whether it was some lone nut or a “terrorist”. Motivation, politics, race, mental illness, drug use, religion…at the end of the day it probably doesn’t matter much to the dead, injured, traumatized and their families.

A San Diego woman who identified herself as James Holmes' mother told ABC News she had awoken unaware of the shooting and had not yet been contacted by authorities. She immediately expressed concern that her son may have been involved.

"You have the right person," she said, apparently speaking on gut instinct. "I need to call the police... I need to fly out to Colorado."

This mother, apparently aware of something terribly wrong with her son, must have had some insight if she "immediately express concern her son may be involved."

Had she heard him verbalize this kind of intent?

To: Travis McGee Just came across this on Hot Air: A few weeks ago, a man by the username of ‘JamesHolmes154′ posted a thread on 9gag saying he was going to ‘shoot up’ a theater. He was clearly distressed and admitted he was suffering from PTSD. He said he was going to walk in and try to take as much lifes as possible. Good find. I wonder if his mother was aware of that post or had heard him making statements to that effect. That would explain her remarks but also bring up questions as to whether she did anything to try to stop him (Baker Act him?) or alert authorities that he might be dangerous. Tough situation for a mother to be in though.
