Chuck Todd: Half This Country Believes In Collectivism
NewsBusters ^ | Mark Finkelstein

Posted on 07/20/2012 7:35:11 AM PDT by governsleastgovernsbest

Collectivism: a political or economic theory advocating collective control especially over production and distribution.

If Chuck Todd is right, our country is in trouble. On Morning Joe today, discussing President Obama's "you didn't build that" remarks, NBC political director Todd opined that "half this country believes" we are about collectivism.

Think about it: 50% of people in this country don’t pay taxes. I would guess more than 50% of those people are on some sort of government assistance and would scream bloody murder if it was pulled from them.

Sadly, Chuckie Todd is right. 50% of the people in this country probably do believe Obama’s way of thinking, and if every one of them shows up to vote in November, we truly are in big trouble.

Thanks to Holder’s DoJ, however, there will be plenty more than 100% of them voting, and even if they get caught, they won’t be prosecuted.

Yes. We ARE in big trouble! As far as I’m concerned there are only 2 kinds of people in this country. There are makers and there are takers and the takers are starting to out number the makers. When they start getting off their lazy asses and outvote us as well we’re doomed.

I think that the percentage is lower, but still very large. Many people are just in Obama’s congregation yelling ‘Amen’ in the hopes that he might throw their group a bone.

I still think that maybe 70% of Americans still believe in Individual Opportunity. But hey, I’m feeling optimistic this morning!

Hey Chuckleberry T. !!!

Your Liberal Agenda Media Training program is finally taking hold on the mushed minds of the Government-schooled masses. Forward!

Uh, just a couple of questions though, yeah, I know that you are busy.

Your boy, yeah, the creepy-commie-Kenyan, - - , yeah, Obama, says that the Government-Controlled roads and Government-Controlled Schools are important, and I understand that if the goal is for The Government to create more Roads Scholars.

Yeah, I’m getting to my question.

My question is, “Why are there more poor folks than rich folks when everybody uses the same roads?”

Right, good point, not everybody uses the same schools.

Why, just look at your boy Obama, he went to so many hush-hush schools that he had to illegally seal his own school documents.

Guess it is all part of being a transparent public servant - - - .

One more question: Is it true that “If you build it the Government will come and tax and regulate it?”

Chuckleberry, - - - ! Come back! You haven’t answered either question!

Chuckleberry! Here is a slogan for you to use:

Blacktop or Concrete,
Government Roads Scholars
Can’t be beat!

FORWARD WITH COMMUNE AMERIKA !

(BTW, don’t ALL “Government” projects get built by private contractors that are paid in blood-soaked taxpayer dollars?)

And, of course, believing in collectivism makes it a good idea we should pursue. It worked so well in 1620 Plymoth, 18th century France, 20th century Russia and China. And don’t forget Cambodia, Cuba, etc, etc, etc. With the hundreds of millions of lives either made destitute or extinguished outright in the pursuit of the collectivist shangri la one can only come to the conclusion that we should try it again. </sarc>

Sure, the half that's freeloading off the half that works for a living. Or, to put it another way, the half that's too lazy to steal and relies on the government to do it for them.

A major cause of the problem is people who send their children to government indoctrination centers (public schools) where the children do not learn the facts about capitalism or collectivism, or American history, or critical thinking.

I would say Todd is understating the percentage. I would also say that you are understating the percentage of freeloaders, since public schooling is a form of welfare. Doesn't matter if you're paying taxes or not. If you took food stamps or heating assistance while paying taxes, you'd be freeloading nonetheless. Same with public schooling. Yet many do it, because they went to public schools themselves...and they just don't think. (In two generations at most, they will have stopped thinking about food stamps, too.)

So if I may take the liberty of paraphrasing your post:

"Half This Country Believes In Collectivism" Sure, more than half are freeloading. Or, to put it another way, the more than half that's too lazy to TEACH and relies on the government to do it for them.

To: governsleastgovernsbest

So let’s examine this. We now appear to have a nation in which:

1) Only half the population pays taxes, but a significant amount of the revenues are redistributed by the government to those who don’t pay taxes.
2) The government determines arbitrarily what income is allowed and what income is punished.
3) The government controls health care and wants to put in place a large bureaucracy to determine which therapies are allowed and which are not, and has the power to force those who disagree on religious grounds to pay for procedures they morally oppose.
4) The media has become a propaganda tool.
5) The POTUS states publicly that businesses were not created by individuals (i.e. implying that the ‘owners’ of those businesses don’t really ‘own’ them).
6) Selected government officials are beyond the law and feel free to ignore demands by representatives of the people (i.e. Eric Holder defying and ignoring Congress).
7) Specific demographics that support the ‘regime’ are favored and protected, while those that oppose are persecuted.
8) The sanctity of the vote has been eroded, and efforts to prevent vote fraud and participation by the ineligible are fought by the regime. The populace now questions the accuracy of the vote.
9) The head of the ‘regime’, the POTUS, does not have to prove eligibility to hold office, and citizens can’t challenge because of ‘lack of legal standing’. Those who protest or question are ridiculed.

There are many, many more examples to fill this list.

So why are we any different than the USSR, or communist China, or even Cuba?

Half the country does not beileve in collectivism. It’s only about 20 percent.

Let’s not get crazy. While nearly 50 percent do not pay income taxes, mostly that’s due to the cocakmamie tax system we have that allows for many people on the low end to receive earned income tax credits or pay no income taxes at all. Even those who pay no income tax are paying a very regressive payroll tax.

Plus people who don’t pay income often do pay real estate and sales taxes.

From the article:

Collectivism: a political or economic theory advocating collective control especially over production and distribution.

From Dictionary.com:

collective [kuh-lek-tiv]   adjective

1. formed by collection.
2. forming a whole; combined: the collective assets of a corporation and its subsidiaries.
3. of or characteristic of a group of individuals taken together: the collective wishes of the membership.
4. organized according to the principles of collectivism: a collective farm.

I don't think Romney or Todd were using the word "collective" in the sense of the definition in the article or the fourth definition from dictionary.com. And neither of them used the word "collectivism", at least not first.

Useful idiots who help the leftists steal the language derailed the conversation by defaulting to the Marxist usage of the word "collective".

If there is anyone on the forum who thinks they can get along as well as they do now without the whole, combined assets and characteristics of the society in which we live, let them speak up. But that means people who could be dropped naked into the jungle, forest or tundra and not just survive but thrive.

What the Collectivists fail to understand is that small businesses have already paid their way. For example, through RE taxes, fuel use taxes and excise taxes (12%), those roads have been paid in full. That teacher received a paycheck and benefits for his/her services.
The ‘Progressives’ attempt to sow seeds of guilt for earning success only falls on the fertile soil of the ignorant. There is half of this country that believes they are owed more than they’ve earned.
‘To each according to their ability, to each according to their need.’

Chuck Todd is right, as far as it goes. But what every last moron who supports “collectivism” actually believes is, “What’s mine is mine, and what’s yours is mine, too.” Count on it. As Dear old Dad always said, “Once the parasites outnumber the hosts, it’s all over.” I fear we have breached that point. The Democrats have won.

The next election (House and Senate, mainly) absolutely will determine if America truly is dead as a doornail.

If our freedom hangs upon an election, I’m sorry to say then that our freedom is already lost to the inevitable despotism of democracy.

A paid army will always out endure an army of volunteers. This is as true in warfare as it is in voting. with the welfare state the Democratic base is a paid army, an army paid with the dollars compensated from our wallets.

They have little else to do but campaign and vote to get themselves more of our money and invariably freedom.

America is dead and gone. The final nail in the coffin was the 2008 election of an African communist as President and Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces. America had a great run. Remember it fondly for what it was. There’s no point hanging onto the past.

The United States of America is now little more than a land mass populated by cretins, ingrates, and parasites who have absolutely no respect for the military and who vote for big government to confiscate money from their neighbors so that it may be “redistributed” to them in exchange for their votes. It is not an America worth defending anymore. That America no longer exists.

The parasites outnumber the hosts now, and there’s no going back. The Democrats have won.

(shrug) Nothing lasts forever. No point crying or whining about it. Throw some cold water in your face and go to ‘Plan B’. Figure out how to grab every government dime you possibly can before the parasites gobble it all up. Look for angles, look for refuges, get under the radar and game the system. Every man for himself. Good luck, everybody.

FRegards,
LH

In the theoretically least progressivist country in the world.
There must be an explanation.

^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^

EXACTLY!

“Public” socialist-entitlement K-12 schooling was our nation's first welfare program...and...it only took one to three generations of compulsory socialist-entitlement schooling to produce Woodrow Wilson and Franklin D. Roosevelt.

Children who attend socialist-entitlement schools ( mislabeled “public” schools) risk learning that any voting mob powerful enough to give them tuition-free schooling is powerful enough to give them **LOTS** of “free” stuff!

What sets my teeth on edge are conservatives who believe that socialist schooling can be reformed. Nonsense! It must be abolished! Completely!

By the way, government owned and run schooling has never been religiously neutral because a neutral education is **impossible**! Currently, our nation's government schools are godless. The children who attend **WILL** learn to think and reason godlessly. They must just to cooperate with classroom and school policies. How could it be otherwise?

While your Plan B does seem somewhat prudent, as is your grim prognoses of the situation. I am not without hope of a rebirth of liberty & Constitutional law(limits) maybe here among the ruins of the old Constitutional Federal republic. Perhaps more likely elsewhere among those States who’s populations by in large still believe in liberty facilitated by a successful scheme of secession/revolution.

You see while much of our population has demonstrated themselves so universally corrupt & criminal in their respect for the rights of other men to permit peaceful coexistence under a democracy(what a shocker *rolls*).

There does remain certant sections of our former Constitutional Federation still dominated by those with virtues & respect for liberty enough to be worthily of calling our countrymen. I say if we can take those states and bring to them the surviving patriots of the north we can together find a way to cut ourselves lose in a revolution from the corrupt bit of our population and start anew.

Then maybe in 50 years after the leftist have destroyed themselves our free posterity might reclaim the land they once occupied while carrying on the free constitution they disregarded.
