There was a time when it was considered necessary and proper to be concerned about possible foreign influences in US government and military service. Way back in 1981 when I first filled out forms as part of the process for joining the US military (it was a DOD form, I dont remember the number) I had to answer a specific question regarding travel. The question asked if I had traveled to any of a list of nations after certain dates (all communist bloc countries) with a date listed by each nation (the date that each country had turned communist).
Anyone who joined the military in the Cold War era probably remembers this form and this question. If the answer to the question for any of the nations involved was yes you had to provide a complete explanation for the reason for the trip, when it took place, etc. Having never visited countries like Cuba, North Korea, East Germany, the Soviet Union, etc., I cant say that I know what the process would have been had I answered yes.
But the point is, if you wanted to join the US military and you had even visited any communist countries, the Department of Defense wanted to know about it.
Fast forward to today. We are locked in a mortal struggle against a force not unlike communism. In fact, it has been called communism with a god. That force is Islam as defined by the Shariah doctrine which forms the basis for it. There are certain countries and organizations that are prominent in the enemy threat doctrine. Yet, to my knowledge, today we have no similar safeguards in place to what the DOD had during the Cold War years to check on the influence of foreign powers on American institutions.

I tried to read the article and it came up that it was a Dangerous page..and it would not open the page..
The government doesn’t give a damn about security, they would love nothing more than to see another terrorist attack so they can take away more freedoms and attain more power! Go to an airport, like Fort Worth and others, it’s like being in a foreign land, call me a racist, I could care less, political correctness will be the death of this nation, it already has! Under Obama and Napolitano, if your a minority, congratulations, you are above reproach and the law! Terrorists are not judged by the content of their character but the color of their skin, so, if you’re from Somalia or Afghanistan, go right through security, or, better yet, here’s a job with security clearance at an airport! The democrats and republicans fear the term racist to such an extent, that they are willing to frisk and assault senior citizens and children rather than offend the sensibilities of a minority for the sake of security!
Some of those screening software programs are put together by Lefties and they absolutely will blackball sites by claiming they are “dangerous.”
There has been other articles on these Muslims and how Weiners wife's mother is with the Muslim Brotherhood..I will post them if they are still around..I read it first on FR after the moron Weiner was outed as a pervert of the Internet..
I have never had any problems with Trend Micro before but you can be sure I will keep an eye on where they block my searches from now on...
Truth be told, the government does give a damn about security —provided you’re a member of the military (below flag rank) or a worker bee civil service type. For individuals in that category, even the slightest offense can result in the loss of your security clearance. Believe me, during my time in the spook world, I saw it happen to a number of individuals, some who did nothing more than run up consumer debt, or get arrested as a first-time DUI offender.
Personally, I have nothing against tight standards—as long as they’re enforced across the boards. I knew an Air Force general (who eventually rose to four-star rank) who had as many as two DUIs as a flag officer and got in trouble for other offenses as well. Yet, his clearance was never affected, and he later became a part of the military “mentor” program for aspiring flag officers as well. And lest we forget, Sandy “Docs in My Drawers” Burger lost his clearance for only a brief time for smuggling classified materials out of the National Archives.
Clearly, Ms. Clinton’s “aide” falls in that privileged category as well. If she was applying for an entry-level analyst position at DIA or CIA, there’s a very good chance she would be denied a clearance, based on her families ties to the Muslim Brotherhood. Or at the very least, it might take 2-3 years to clear her.
That’s the way the system is supposed to work. During my days as a junior military intel officer I met an Air Force intel officer of Chinese-American descent. Because her grandparents emigrated from Red China after the communist takeover, it took more than two years for her to gain a TS/SCI clearance. I’m guessing that Hillary’s aide was cleared for our most sensitive information in minimum time, with no regard for her family connections.
Gary Aldrich, the former FBI agent who exposed similar wrong-doing in the Clinton White House said it best: “I’m clearing people (for classified information) that I would normally be hand-cuffing. As Aldrich detailed in his book, literally scores of Clinton staffers were cleared despite problems that included drug addictions, serious financial problems and troubling associations.
Seventy years ago, Washington’s elites thought Alger Hiss was trustworthy, too. We know how that turned out.
All very well said. And just to add a little fuel, your comment about Alger Hiss’s “trustworthiness” many years ago has again reminded me of my doubts about John McCain. His almost sick crush on Hillary, and upside-down desire to schmooze the democrats while constantly condemning his own party makes me wonder if his activities in the Hilton are being used by the democrats, compliments of their friends in N. Vietnam, to manipulate McCain. All of his acts since in Congress have suggested that he’s been somehow turned.
