Bloomberg demands gun action from Obama, Romney

(CNN) - New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg, an outspoken advocate of stricter gun-control laws, said in a radio interview Friday the two candidates for president needed to take a firmer line in addressing gun violence.

Bloomberg's comments came as police and the FBI were investigating a deadly shooting in Colorado that left at least 12 people dead.

"Soothing words are nice, but maybe it's time that the two people who want to be president of the United States stand up and tell us what they are going to do about it, because this is obviously a problem across the country," Bloomberg said on WOR Radio's "The John Gambling Show."

Bloomberg continued, saying Friday's tragedy should spark greater focus on how guns reach killers.

"I mean, there are so many murders with guns every day, it's just got to stop," Bloomberg said. "And instead of the two people - President Obama and Governor Romney - talking in broad things about they want to make the world a better place, okay, tell us how."

Using the new-found penalty for inaction is a tax logic which no doubt the mayor supports, I suggest that any citizen over the age of 21, who is qualified (by not being a felon, or mentally unstable)who does not regularly carry a firearm to public gatherings pay a yearly tax of $1000.

Had that policy and "tax" been in effect, and of course all of the foolish anti-gun restrictions and laws promoted by people like Mayor Bloomberg repealed, it would be virtually certain than the attendees at the Batman movie opening would all be safe and sound at home today, except of course for the lunatic gunman.

So Mayor, I suggest that you rethink your foolish anti-gun policies. One or two armed citizens in that theater could have saved a dozen lives.

I agree completely. Allowing law-abiding citizens to be armed will greatly decrease gun violence.

Nanny Bloomers, are you demanding that the candidates promise to violate the presidential
oath of office by taking action in violation of the 2nd ammendment of the US Constitution?

My sympathies. My family couldn't put up with NYC's Copperhead Democrats and left at the time of the Civil War. My daughter works in NYC, and even as a tree-hugging, Birkenstock-wearing vegetarian, she commutes from New Jersey because she finds the place waaaaay too liberal!

It has been reported that next Friday,July 27th, Obama plans on signing the UN small Arms Gun Ban Treaty. Knowing what we know about this administration and ‘Fast and Furious’ and how they deliberately created a situation, that would eventually lead to the murders of at least 300 mexican citizen’s and 2 American border patrol agents,to create a pre-text to eliminate our God given,Second Ammendment Right’s. Whose to say they wouldn’t be involved in a situation like this,so Obama could use this massacre in his signing statement next week,as to why we have to ban small arms? Pay attention this weekend and going into next week and see if they start testing that meme as a reason for the Treaty. This administration is capable of anything!

Bloomie The Whiner didn’t even have the decency to wait until the blood clotted before jumping on the bandwagon and trying to use this tragedy to further his own agenda.

Hey, Bloomberg...its not the guns, its the culture. The same culture you and the rest of the progressives have been debasing for the last 50 years.

Dr. Thorne demands gun action from Obama, Romney

"I demand that Obama and Romney pledge support for citizens being allowed to carry concealed firearms anywhere is America, so they can defend themselves from crazed maniacs and Muslim terrorists," said the good doctor.

Cinemark has a no guns except for LEOs policy, which is permitted under Colorado law. So this subhuman was breaking a gun control law. Shockingly, he didn’t care. /sarc

Hey Bloomy: take away all the guns from the citizens then only the criminals will have guns. Are you f’n serious? A fully armed citizenry is the ONLY deterrent to crime.

Yes, he’s a major POS.
Thankfully he’s only NYC.
Sadly, he’s NYC and their violent crime rate is much higher thanks to him.

"...Obama could use this massacre in his signing statement next week, as to why we have to ban small arms? Pay attention this weekend and going into next week and see if they start testing that meme as a reason for the Treaty. This administration is capable of anything!

So often the timing of these types of incidents does seem awfully coincidental.

At a televised news conference the Aurora Police official said there were 100 FBI agents helping them out.

That way the government will be able to keep a lid on any information they don't want to reach the public.

(We may be paranoid but that doesn't mean Homeland Security isn't really after us.)

Bloomberg is the absolute scum of the earth for turning this into a political issue. The son of a bitch that killed these people and wounded countless others DID NOT HAVE GUN PERMITS! Can you tell me how it would help this country to take the guns out of the hands of honest good Americans? It would be a utopia if the only people that could possess guns are the psychotics, criminals, illegals, cops, and the government. NOT!

Yes, exactly what we need. I am a 77 young grandmother, I would like nothing more than to see my grandchildren trained on how to use a handgun, take them to target practice often as possible. I get so tired of hearing the nitwits making these remarks everytime there is a shooting. If they had their way, the only person with a handgun would be the criminals.
