Menino Chick-fil-A stance shows guns aren’t only freedom ‘progressives’ threaten

Citing an anti-“same sex marriage” stance by its corporate ownership, Boston Mayor Thomas Menino has vowed to block Chick-fil-A restaurants in Beantown, the Boston Herald reported Thursday.

“Chick-fil-A doesn’t belong in Boston. You can’t have a business in the city of Boston that discriminates against a population. We’re an open city, we’re a city that’s at the forefront of inclusion,” the Herald quoted the mayor. “It doesn’t send the right message to the country. We’re a leader when it comes to social justice and opportunities for all.”

That would be for all except those who disagree with the mayor’s political stances. And while the Herald confirms Menino successfully blocked a Walmart using economic factors as justification, what authority he has to block free enterprise over differences on social issues remains unstated, particularly if no zoning, employment or anti-discrimination laws are violated, and in light of incorporated rights ostensibly prohibited from government abridgement by the Constitution and court precedent.

Without further defining his plot to block private parties from entering into contractual agreements, it would appear the mayor is relying on bluster, the potential for bureaucratic harassment and official inflammation of a mob mentality to intimidate the chain from entering “his” fiefdom. And if that’s the case, the mayor is inconsistent and gutless if he does not apply the same exclusion to Boston’s prominent Catholic Archdiocese,

-------------cut-----------------

Far from being inclusive and tolerant, the mayor’s stance reveals the application of a chilling Orwellian Newspeak/Doublethink deception right out of “Nineteen Eighty-Four.” And far from representing all of Boston’s citizens, the mayor has shown himself not only to be unafraid, but enthusiastic about abusing the powers of office to bully political minorities into submission, even when he doesn’t have a legal leg to stand on.

The ability of the "progressives" to lie to themselves and others knows no limits.

They either are too stupid to see their glaring hypocrisy, or diabolically cynical.

I believe that most of the goons in “leadership” fall into the latter category, while most of their pie-eyed followers are of the former.

Says the Mayor, discriminating against a business based on their views. So much for being accepting of other peoples' views, even when they disagree with your own.

Hypocrisy thy name is "Liberal"...

Why would sinners feel so strongly about what is an abomination to God. The mayor needs to describe for the children of his community what “gay” homosexuals do to each other for the sake of educating the little children and showing them why they shouldn’t eat at Chik-Filet (ours is packed all the time)

I believe you're correct. Most people that self-identify as "liberal" don't take the time to actually think through their position on, well, just about any issue. They've heard conservatives described in such (inaccurate) and negative terms they simply think "I don't want to be like that!" and the liberal message sounds so good, so convincing on the surface. But that's all it is, spin/message layered over a very oppressive, almost fascist-like control.

What if someone said "You're not allowed to be gay! Promote homosexuality in any way and you'll be ostracised!" That would sound pretty oppressive, fascist, etc. right? Well, that is exactly, EXACTLY, the situation we have today. Take any position that doesn't accept/promote/celebrate homosexuality and you are immediately set-upon. It is the fascism of the left, and it is every bit as terrible as that of the middle of the last century.

You all remember that one, it cost what, 20 million lives to beat back? How many lives will it eventually cost to beat back the fascism of the left. You lib lurkers reading this - you are part of the problem. A couple of decades from now people will look back and curse your names, your cause.

OK, Mr. Mayor, if your fair city is soooo tolerant and inclusive and celibrative of diversity, if I walk past Fenway Park wearing a Yankees cap, will you guarantee my safety?

It may not happen in my lifetime, but I see no way out of this progressive mess than through a civil war. The urban centers in this country are God-less cesspools. They will not be satisfied until they have indoctrinated everyone to their sick, twisted vision of society.

I rarely eat fast food, but I just had one of Chick-fil-A’s chicken sandwiches in honor of this issue. They’re actually quite good.

“You can’t have a business in the city of Boston that discriminates against a population.”

Exactly how does Chik-Fil-A discriminate against homosexuals?

Do they have a sexual orientation question on their job applications?

Has anyone ever been fired by Chik-Fil-A for homosexuality?

Do they ask customers if they are homosexual before they serve them?

Has anyone, anywhere, ever been denied service or asked to leave a Chik-Fil-A because of their sexual orientation?

I don’t understand.

If I ran Chick Fil-et, I might agree with the Mayor.

Boston isn’t the place for Chick Fi-et.

Why should Chick Fil-et place their employees in jeopardy when God attacks the Sodom of the east.

Chick-Fil-A and Steak and Shake are my favorite fast food restaurants. I wish they would build more CFA’s in north Georgia. Lots of people are retiring to this area from Atlanta that grew up eating there and are frustrated about having to drive an hour to the closest location.

Come on CFA, we love ya here!

When individuals choose for whatever reason to boycott a business in which they hold a grievance, I may not support the grievance, or wish them success, but I can support their freedom to do. But when a government official works and uses the force of state (without a hint of due process), to bring harm a private business or individual, for the “crime” of holding/advocating any political or moral position… we see the VERY DEFINITION of tyranny! It is discrimination most vile! Stalin, Hitler, Pol Pot would be proud.

Homosexuals are free to go into Chick-Fila and order a sandwich and drink just like anyone. - CF just simply isn’t donating money to their agenda, but donates money to worthwhile causes. Homos can’t go in there and make out any more than heterosexuals can. Overbearing jackasses.

But don’t stop there, Menino! Show the courage of your convictions and ban Muslim businesses, they don’t pray for the homos’ souls, they just cut their heads off!

Don't these people realize just how stupid they sound? Wonder what this idiot would say if a Muslim wanted to open a restaurant in town and declared that he would personally behead any woman that came in without a head cover.....
