Rev. C.L. Bryant is making waves with his new documentary, Runaway Slave. I had the opportunity to preview the film in Bossier City, Louisiana, and I found the documentary thoroughly compelling.
Runaway Slave was conceived by Rev. Bryant and supported by private donations and FreedomWorks. It has been well-received in private screenings so far, often receiving standing ovations, and is poised to open in select theaters across the country next week. While at Regal Cinema 9 in Bossier City, it was the highest grossing film there.
Herman Cain caught a great deal of flak for his comment on the campaign trail that he "had left the Democratic plantation," but he's not the only one saying it. Indeed, C.L. Bryant has now joined the ranks of a number of black closet conservatives who are speaking out against big government, which is what they perceive to be the new plantation. And the list of black conservatives finding the courage to speak out is growing.
Joining Bryant in this documentary are famous faces like Herman Cain, Allen West, Thomas Sowell, AlfonZo Rachel, and Alveda King. Sirius radio host David Webb speaks out, and we meet a host of other black conservatives who share their stories such as Mason Weaver, Marvin D. Rogers, and K. Carl Smith, who is the founder of Frederick Douglass Republicans and subscribes to the "four life-affirming values of Douglass: respect for life, respect for the Constitution, belief in limited government and individual responsibility."
The film itself has a gritty, urban, edgy feel to it, at times contrasted with scenes of rolling hills and pastoral images of a beautiful America. The scene at the Jefferson Memorial will certainly bring a tear of pride to your eye.

Conservatives who happen to be black haven’t been “in the closet” for a few years now. The MSM keeps ignoring or belittles them, so you just won’t hear from them.

Problem: The only people who will view this film are the people who don’t “need” to see it.
Solution: How do we get thinking Black people to go see the film?
“thinking black people” are conservatives. The question is how do we get the masses non thinking black people to see it.
I am friends with several (one of them is my boss!) The most frustrating thing they face is the built-in prejudices of many of their own, even in their families, let alone the workplace (shhhhh). But it is only a matter of time before their voices are heard.

LET ME SAY AT THE OUTSET THAT WHITE WELFARE BUMS ARE EVERY BIT AS MUCH A PROBLEM AS BLACKS; BUT THIS THREAD IS ABOUT CONSERVATIVE BLACKS; HENCE, I SPEAK ONLY ABOUT THEM.
Pardon my pessimism, but I think any rebellion by blacks toward their Big Government “Masters” is going to be negligible. My arguement is to be found within THESE 3 EXCERPTS from one paragraph of the Declaration of Independence:
EXCERPT No. 1: “Prudence, indeed, will dictate that Governments long established should not be changed for light and transient causes....”
And as someone (John Stossell, maybe?) recently showed in a video; the run-of-the-mill-black will put up with anything as long as he keeps getting his free $h!t.
EXCERPT No. 2: “...and accordingly all experience hath shewn, that mankind are more disposed to suffer, while evils are sufferable, than to right themselves by abolishing the forms to which they are accustomed.”
As I see it, the alternative to continuing on with things as they are is for blacks to seek jobs, find jobs and start setting the alarm clock and SHOWING UP and PERFORMING those jobs.....many of them with NO JOB EXPERIENCE in their family or peer group for several generations. Ain’t gonna’ happen!
EXCERPT No. 3 “But when a long train of abuses and usurpations, pursuing invariably the same Object evinces a design to reduce them under absolute Despotism, it is their right, it is their duty, to throw off such Government, and to provide new Guards for their future security.”
To MY mind, the only chance of any of this taking hold is if leaders such as Rev. C. L. Bryant, Herman Cain, et al, can begin to inspire YOUNG BLACKS to think for themselves, to recognize the race hustlers for who and what they are, and to leave the Big Government Plantation.
I run into sharp, capable, skilled blacks all the time. I am truly impressed with their abilities, with their speaking English fluently and beautifully and without a bunch of ebonics crap messing it up; and it’s a pleasure to engage in transactions with them. But when they enter the voting booth, do they still pull the lever for Massa in Washington, DC? The current numbers show that they still do. FWIW
For the children it could be shown directly before or after the Inconvienent Truth that they view in grade school. For the adults you could offer a few free looseys or a 5$ daily number free play might do the trick.
‘Course first you’d have to find a bookie that would be willing to offer any kind of free play, so I guess that one is DOA.
You're right, of course, but big movements start small. Who knows where this might lead in a couple decades? Maybe, nowhere. But I'm pleased it's starting.
I've been asking that same question for years.
It's unbelievable. Black and white chrstians live together down here in the rural South yet the whites are "fundies" and the Blacks are what . . . Marxist-Leninist intellectuals? Secular humanists? Materialists? What are they? Why does the rural South produce so many left wing Black preachers?
It's about time someone addressed this issue. All else is window dressing.

Give tickets away. We’ve done that with pro-life films. Set up a table in the movie theater lobby. Or just stand on the sidewalk in front.
Meanwhile, as evangelists of anti-plantationdom, Ken Hamblin and Larry Elder and Natalie Arceneaux are always welcome and worth a few minutes on my AM radio dial, as I wheel around town.

The result of Richard Pryor’s comedic success has been to condition white people. Since the vast majority of the discussion about racism in America is fed to us through comedy routines, we’ve become accustomed to laughing when a black man stands up and shouts “I hate crackas!” Whole theatres full of people jumped to their feet and applauded when Chris Rock said virtually the same things as the lunatic New Black Panthers shouting through a bullhorn. Dave Chapelle snapped off a couple of cracka jokes and those jokes made him the most important person on Comedy Central, along with making him several million dollars.
White people don’t view racially charged explosions from angry black men as threatening anymore. We see it as entertainment. But how are we supposed to seriously address racial issues when we’re conditioned to laugh at them, and the people who discuss them? How are we supposed to pick the real angry, dangerous individuals out of the large crowds of black comedians saying the same things because they’re trying to make a buck?
