AURORA, Colo. (AP) Authorities on Saturday began the intricate process of disarming booby traps in the apartment of the suspect behind the Colorado movie theater rampage, hoping to find clues inside to the motive for the shootings without causing an explosion that could destroy key evidence.
Scores of law enforcement officials, including bomb squad technicians and dozens of federal agents, removed one trip wire and one explosive device inside James Holmes' apartment Saturday, and "other devices" are in there, Aurora police Sgt. Cassidee Carlson said.

Explosion at the apartment
I’d sure like to know WHICH WINDOW they’re using to enter the apartment! I’m sure the floor plan is pretty standard, so WHY can’t they tell us????
Kiss that security deposit goodbye.
Watching fox. Maybe a bedroom?
Looks like dining area window
“Some days you just can’t get rid of a bomb...”
>destroy key evidence
How much more evidence do they need to put this loony away for life? There is some serious stupid entrenched in our justice system.
“They may be drinkers, Robin, but they are still human beings.”
You don’t want to know if there are conspirators?
Explosion was LEOs blowing out window frame for better access.
why not just cut through the interior wall with a razor knife? It’s just drywall on wood studs.
I’d love to have an image of his computer’s hard drive to play with.
The press calls Holmes a “suspect” yet the media is more brazen in their portrayal of Zimmerman as a “murderer”.
I’ve read reports indicating that neighbors believe he tried to lure someone in to set it off. The front door was left unlocked, and techno music was left playing very loudly set on repeat, until 1:00 AM, when it shut off.
The neighbor lady in the apartment below him went up to ask him to turn down the music. She was interviewed and said the door was cracked but for some reason she didn’t push it open. That was her lucky day.
I’m surprised the name of the song hasn’t been made known, given the apparently highly symbolic nature of other actions taken. I suspect there was an intended “message” there. A lot of deliberation and planning, here, rather obsessively detailed. That sort of mindset wouldn’t throw on just any old techno.
I’m watching Fox too, and they have interviewed the couple who live below a couple of times. Seems like the logical question would be to ask them since the floorplan is the same. FRUSTRATING!
“Sympathy for the devil”
You’ve got mail
That was my thought, too. She didn’t say other than it was techno. Wonder why it’s being all hush hush?
I'll bet the poor schlump renter just got a new kitchen/dinette pass-through whether he wanted one or not.
Leni
Maybe because she didn't know the name of the song, not a big fan of techno?
Bet the liquid in the bottles is water or gasoline.
Reminds me of an old Stephen Wright joke:
I installed a skylight in my apartment... The people who live above me are furious!
He did it.
You caught him.
Now fry him and move on.
Why not make HIM enter the apartment and either disarm it, or die?
We should ban guns because he booby trapped his appartment, hadji style. (sarc off)
So, who is going to declare a reckless and irrelevant civil war against guns in the name of this now...
LOL, it’s already started
5.56mm
Guess we’ll hear the song title during the trial.
Right now, it seems the talking heads are leaning toward he was sane enough what with him being tops in his class and went to so much trouble to plan this out and knows enough to call for a lawyer immediately. Of course, if he’d been a minority or of a certain religion, they’d be on his side but he’s a white middle class well educated male so they want him to fry. For once, I’m with them.
Did y’all hear the talking head a few minute ago interviewing a gal that was more a “repeat after me” than an interview? Geez, who’s making the news?
Newsette - Did you think he was part of the movie?
Gal - Yes, I thought he was part of the movie.
Newsette - Did you think the first gunshots were fireworks?
Gal - Yes, I thought the first gunshots were fireworks.
Yes actually. It just struck me as asinine to be mostly concerned about blowing up evidence when demolishing an entire
apartment building would be the main concern logically.
I guess I’m still jaded by the stupidity of my local authorities for holding me in jail for a week when the gunman’s
lead was dug out of my front door jamb hours after my self defense moment and the 911 tape of me on the phone trying
to get the cops to stop the gunman before he got to my house.
Yes, I “laughed out loud”
This man is a cold-blooded mass murderer. Of course he’s competent to stand trial, but instead he will have a host of psychiatrists and a team of lawyers who will file endless motions to have him “tested” and retested over the next several years. I expect a circus in the courtroom if this ever comes to trial.
I say that we use the english code of reciprosity to determine guilt..... FDAT!!!!!!!!!!!!! why cant we just kill this phycho path without listnin to his lifes problems
Here’s a man who was executed 20 days after he killed eight schoolchildren in China. Arrest, trial, appeals, and sentence all concluded in three weeks’ time:

Chinese justice for mass murderers, very efficient.
