In final acts of valor, Jon Blunk, Matt McQuinn and Alex Teves used their bodies to shield their girlfriends as accused madman James Holmes turned the Aurora cineplex into a shooting gallery.

Aurora shooting victims: Heroism and heartbreak as last moments revealed
(Some of the victims & the injured profiled)
:( The good die young. Bless the memory of those young men.
"Accused madman"? What, is "madman" a new criminal charge? "We find the defendant guilty of first-degree madman, Your Honor."
BTTT -
Nice tribute to the victims.
This is in direct contrast to the guy who bailed, leaving his girlfriend and two kids alone in the theater. He even drove away from the theater in his car, only driving back to get them when the “coast was clear.”
Holmes is apparently just another registered Democrat.
Let’s hope it’s true, and this isn’t just an effort to manufacture a theme..
But Cinemark has a Zero Gun Policy at ALL its theaters. Which even yesterday they were still defending. So even people who could legally carry in CO, COULDN'T in their theater!
So the NUTCASE Holmes knew he had a Target Rich Environment. I'd expect Billions of dollars in Lawsuits against Cinemark. Hopefully enough to put them out of business as the blood is also on their hands for their 'Gun Free Zone' policy.
Ex-girlfriend. If she has anything resembling a brain.
Many survivors will face long term medical issues and permanent injuries. We haven’t heard details of all of the most critically wounded. No, I do hold it against the President when he visits. It is the right thing to do.
Putting themselves in danger to protect others. Not a bad definition of valor. Well done guys. Truly, rest in peace.
And it appears to me he hoped his booby trapped apartment would explode by 1230 am and bring many police there. But the neighbor Mrs. Fonzi ( i saw her on FOX) did not open his door despite the loud music turning on at 12am. She called non emergency police number but no one arrived , music stopped 1 am.
The polls in Colorado between Romney and B. Hussein Obama are very tight. By Democrat James Holmes (D-Aurora) taking out these three Republicans, it could give Obama this swing State (remember, Democrat James Holmes (D-Aurora) can still vote this November).
Love expresses itself in sometimes the darkest of moments.
I don't care where it is; if there's no metal detector, I carry.
That's the basis of 70+ lawsuits that will ruin Cinemark Holding!
This is me, not being surprised.
I doubt the man with the rings in his lips was a Republican voter.
I saw that, too, and thought it made no sense, since all the stories about them said he was her "fiance" to start with.
If we're going to use "fiance/fiancee" to mean "sex-partner," we really need another word for people who have set a wedding date and are in negotiations with the caterer.
I understand he entered after buying a ticket at some point at witness saw he opened an emergency door and returned with his weapons from his car in the lot. Went to front of theater, tossed a can or 2 of gas and started shooting.
“...only driving back to get them when the coast was clear.
He surrendered his Manhood that night and he’ll never get it back. Now he dies a thousand deaths.
You are probably right, but this is itself sad.
The theater could not have prevented this.
Does anyone seriously think he would have stood in line and turned away if told he wasn’t allowed in with his weaponry?
He came in the back way after disabling the emergency door. Such doors are necessary. I suppose the theater could have in place an alert device that would have sent an employee down to close it when disabled, but such devices can always be bypassed.
Our society always wants to find somebody to blame, other than the obvious perp, when something bad is done. After 9/11, some idiots wanted to blame the secutiry people at Logan, who only did their job as instructed. But sometimes, as in these cases, nobody else is responsible.
But the chain will probably go under.
That’s one of the roles of men, protecting women, not sending them off to war or in a squad car.
Hard to believe the number of people on here yelling SUE SUE SUE - whatever happened to tort reform? The responsible person here is HOLMES, not the theater, gun policy or no gun policy. If they DID allow CCW in the theater and (God forbid) a permit holder shot someone - would the theater be responsible for that also??
the only lawsuit should be the Tea Party Holmes against ABC and Brian Ross
Did I just now notice the absence of the financial investment community who like to hector us about how 'Inactive partners' have no control, and because of that don't have to take losses?
There are always exceptions ~ find one of those inactive partners using his seat in the Senate or as owner of a newspaper and magazine trying to spread blame elsewhere and that passive corporate relationship won't count nearly as much.
There's a chance much more than the Cinemark chain will go under with this.
Capable attorneys are standing by day and night ........
You’re right - the theater couldn’t have prevented this. Luby’s Diner and Columbine High School couldn’t have prevented the terrible acts that occurred there, either.
The blame lies squarely on the shoulders of the perpetrators of those crimes.
My stake in all of this is in how I conduct myself. Will I willingly subject myself and my family to the whims of a society increasingly out of control? Will I think good thoughts and hope for the best? Or will I outfit myself with the tools necessary to defend myself?
Tough questions for a tough age.
You never know. I once worked with a real Goth-type girl. Rings in her lips, nose, and ears. She was one of the most politically conservative people I have ever met.
I know the legal process requires use of that word, but does anyone believe that there is not 100% certainty that he did it?
Don’t you think if more men stepped up in this fashion, there would be no room in the military for opening up more dangerous jobs to women? It’s the generations of George Costanzas, sitting in front of their computers, who are the reason there aren’t enough men in the military/police forces to handle these jobs.
The fact is that the Crook County Prosecutors (States Attorneys) LOVE going after suburbanites, and/or those of us in the 'collar counties'. They'll nail us to the wall with a Felony on any gun charge like we're John Dillinger -- no matter what the circumstances are/were of the firearm violation. And ditto if you should get caught with a pocket knife and the blade is 1/8" above the 'legal length', BINGO -- Felony charge.
But they'll plead down gun charges to misdemeanors for the ghetto rat gang-bangers like they're first cousins. And drop any knife violation as a waste of their time.

You’d be surprised. There aren’t many ways left to be a counterculture rebel, but one of them in heavily leftist areas is to buck the liberal norms politically. You might not recognize the variety of political not-liberal or even be disturbed by it, but they’re there, particularly among the males. A lot of them are the die-hard young Paul supporters.
Mr. Blunk’s wife is being really good about this, all things considered. My sympathies to her and his young children.
Interesting point. Unless someone runs his voter registration and all that, it's just speculation, anyway.
Even when the perp is dead on the floor with the gun in his hand, the news still says “alleged” or “suspect.”
So like as you say they (management) 'allowed' Holmes to enter with all those weapons by not having adequate security in place. Ergo, they are going to be in a 'world of hurt' (financially).
No Brain. Technically Ex-girlfriend since she now is his fiance. The guy proposed to her in the hospital and she accepted!! No lie!
Then they will all hire the guys who aren't smart enough to work for TSA (IQ under 70) to do strip searches and fondling of their customers.
There is a substantial subset of the Goth subculture that is right wing. Been there, done that, in the mid-late eighties. I’ve understood it to have expanded since, though some are right wing in the European model with all the baggage that that entails, and more are classical liberal in the vein of right-libertarian. The left-libertarians gravitate to the anarchists, the burn it all down crowd, which is another subgroup with little crossover. For all their apparent decadence and disregard for societal norms, there’s a sort of love for history there, distorted though it may be, that would preclude any nihilist desire to destroy anything but themselves.
d say the lessons learned are:
1) Make sure your CC (concealed carry) weapons have a well adjusted laser.
2) Target practice like crazy, practicing shooting while diving, running, jumping out of helicopters and repelling down walls if possible
3) save lives first then worry about CC restriction laws later
Several people doing 1, 2 and 3 in the theater might not have helped anything but it could have evened the odds when his AK jammed.
However, when a company issues a stated policy of restricting law-abiding gun owners from bringing weapons into their place of business, they have effectively taken upon themselves the responsibility of keeping their customers safe.
So -- yeah, I think Cinemark is going to be sued out of existence. And rightfully so, if they do in fact have a documented policy prohibiting people from carrying weapons into their place of busines.
See my last post. If the theater did not have the resources on hand to protect its patrons, then it should have had no policy at all about allowing people into the theater with guns. They would have been better off being silent about the whole thing, and deferring to state law as a legitimate defense if they ever faced a lawsuit under the circumstances you’ve described.
I will wager a rather large sum of money that the issue over which they are sued is failure to keep the perp and his weapons out, not their policy of prohibiting concealed carry by patrons.
More to the (legal) point: Cinemark, by prohibiting the means of self defense, accepted responsibility for the safety of its customers, and thus are liable.
The problem here is that we're discussing a situation that can't possibly be tested because the conditions simply don't exist here. We'd have to find a comparable situation where a loony-tune carried out a similar attack in a movie theater with no policy on firearms and see how they fared in the subsequent civil lawsuits.
P.S. Personally, I wouldn’t do business with a company that had such a policy in place — because I see it as an explicit acknowledgement by the company that they cater to a customer base that includes criminals, mutants and various other assorted misfits.
