Was James Holmes, Suspected Aurora Shooter, Inspired by Batman? [actually, Batman enemy, The Joker]
ABC's Good Morning America, via YahooNews ^ | July 20, 2012 | SHEILA MARIKAR, Good Morning America

Posted on 07/22/2012 9:43:41 AM PDT by ETL

"Violence like the massacre that happened in Aurora, Colo., today is a staple of action films, including Christopher Nolan's Batman trilogy. A similar, now haunting, scene unfurls in "The Dark Knight Rises" when a masked villain leads a violent gang into a packed football stadium and deploys guns and explosives on the unsuspecting crowd.

While there has been no indication as to the motives of James Holmes, the suspected 24-year-old shooter who is now in custody, new evidence suggests that he was inspired by the Batman series of comic books and/or movies.

Law enforcement sources confirmed to ABC News that Holmes said "I am the Joker" when apprehended by authorities. His hair was painted red, the same hair color of Heath Ledger's Joker at one point in 2008's "The Dark Knight."

[snip]

There are more parallels. In Frank Miller's iconic 1986 comic book series, "The Dark Knight Returns," the Joker murders a television studio audience by deploying "smile gas." Holmes began his massacre by setting off smoke bombs throughout the theater.

In the same book, Arnold Crimp, a disturbed man who just lost his job, pulls out a handgun in an adult film theater and kills three people. A scene from the strip shows a news anchor saying, "Three slain in Batman-inspired porn theater shoot-out." ..."

You might want to do a wiki search of Andrew Kehoe before declaring that there were no school massacres. The worst in US history was in 1927.

People have no interest in anything that might suggest that the US wasn't a perfect paradise until 1960.

More often than not, these lunatics are hard left politically. ie, the “Unabomber” (pro-revolution, anti-Capitalist environmentalist wacko), IRS building plane crasher (quoted Marx to sum up his many-page ‘manifesto’), Amy Bishop (worshiped Obama), Lee Harvey Oswald (Castro-loving communist), on and on... But then, one would have to be nuts to support extreme left causes. So simply saying they’re crazy doesn’t eliminate a genuine political motive.

I still have to read more about this Black Bloc business - never heard of them.

The Dark Knight is a movie that gets watched over and over at out house.

The past couple of days I’ve been thinking over the scenes where the Joker gives Harvey a “push” into insanity - and later explains to Batman the difference between “them” (they are “different” and “freaks”) - and the normal citizens Batman is trying to save. Joker goes into how he drove Harvey over the edge.

You can see how it would appeal to someone who views themselves as an outsider looking in and has contempt for regular folks.

Put your armor on as the apologists for this kind of infantile comic book movies descend on you. They don’t know that by defending the comic book movies they are also defending rap “music”, death metal and pants hanging down to the the knees, ghetto culture as primitive and simplistic as the comic books with faggy men in tights playing macho like Rock Hudson played macho with Doris Day.

The inspiration doesn’t much matter. Our opposition thrives on chaos. And The Divorce is coming.

Somebody needs to start asking the media what "Black Bloc" is. Repeatedly.

Assuming this nut job was indeed a member of the 'Occupy' Black Bloc. I doubt they'll bother looking very deeply into it. And even if they do, they'd no doubt look for some way to dismiss or 'rationalize' it. They did this with the Weather Underground. ie, "they were noble sorts who perhaps went a bit too far trying to end an unjust war, blah, blah, blah"

"Was James Holmes, Suspected Aurora Shooter, Inspired by Batman?"

"Brilliant" is NOT the word I would use to describe the GMA staff.

have you actually seen the movies?

They have conservative themes throughout.

This new one appears to really bash the Occupy crowd.

The Dark Knight addresses problems when dealing with a terrorists - people who, themselves, have no code of conduct - no rules - anarchists.

Well, of course there were flaws in American society before 1960. There was violent crime, there were drugs, and there were girls who got pregnant without a husband. But, I think it’s good to note that various problems such as these have gotten much worse since 1960.

Indeed, and if I’m not mistaken the Bath School Massacre still stands as the worst school-related mass murder in U.S. history.

Somehow, I don’t think reading the funny pages caused Mr. Kehoe to blow up a school full of kids.

The only paper that set him off was that property tax bill.

defending rap “music”,

One of the few things we know about Holmes is that he apparently hated rap music.

Yep. This sort of thing has always happened but how it was reported has changed and we have 24 7 cable news. Plus there are more people meaning more opportunities for it to happen.

Excuse me. It's past high time to exit their fantasyland and demand they acknowledge reality.

“reminds me...in The Dark Knight the Joker describes himself as an agent of chaos.”

Yep. And ultimately that’s what motivates a lot of our politics. Never letting a crisis go to waste and such.

It will end. And relatively soon. People in certain geographic areas will simply decide that being part of a suicide pact is not for them.

"Brilliant" is NOT the word I would use to describe the GMA staff.

If you mean that in the sense that their title is misleading: that the shooter was inspired by the conservative champion Batman, as opposed to his enemy, The Joker, which he admits to, I would strongly agree.

Murders had reached a low around 1960, but the problem hasn't been a steady-state rise.

Question should be, which no media person will ask, was James E. Holmes doing the bidding of left-wing, Obama inspired, “Occupy Wall Street”? Methinks we will never know. Wonder how that guy got thousands of bucks and put together a flawless terrorist plan all by his lonesome??? Strange, isn’t it!!!

I personally think Kehoe was a latent serial killer anyway. Mother died then his step mother died while Andy apparently watched. He was known to have an explosive temper, cruel to his farm animals, obsessive compulsive.
