BYERS, Colo. – Less than a month before carrying out the midnight movie massacre that left 12 dead, suspected shooter James Holmes applied for membership at a private gun range, unnerving the club’s owner whose calls to Holmes’ apartment reached a “creepy, weird” Batman-inspired voicemail message.

The term “cheers” is something that you pick up with the European base. A lot of Americans who spend years in Germany or the UK....end up using the expression a good bit. I used to work with a guy in my office who made twenty phone calls a day....and typically ended the call with “cheers” every single time.
I noted the kid played soccer a lot...so I’m guessing he picked up various European terms while hanging around the field.

Seems to me that the “Gun Lobby” figured this guy out pretty quickly. It’s tragic that our “finest” could not do the same.
We need to put him in charge of vetting presidential candidates and foreigners wanting flying lessons.

The slurring was probably an attempt to impersonate that Joker persona.
Don’t forget gun ranges, guns, movie theaters, hair dye, and answering machines.
I spent a year working in the UK in the late eighties, and picked up a lot of British slang. After I came home in 1990, it took years and years for me to lose the habit of using those words.
I still pop out with the occasional ‘crikey’.
I think the action necessary is to ban Hollywood from inciting riot and yelling fire in a crowded theater , It is the left in Hollywood that warp the minds of our youth with evil and they do it for money
I’d be curious to know if James’ parents knew or anticipated that he would do something like this. Obviously, James is responsible but his mother knows her son was a powder keg. “Was your son an OWS black bloc groupie?” would be a good question to ask her.

Just got back from a he!! trip.
Stuck in Charlotte, spent the night in the airport.
At midnight they came through and ran all us poor boobs out of the concourses, into the ticketing area.
Why you ask?
Per:TSA you have to be screened the same day you fly.
Midnight was rollover to next day.
Hundreds of people sleeping on the floor until TSA opened for business at 4:30 AM.
I've told everyone that I'm taking all my carry on luggage to Goodwill so I'll never be tempted to fly again.

I saw Prof Stanton Samenow on TV last night and he said this guy is most likely a criminal, sadistic sociopath, not schizophrenic.

Samenow works at St Elizabeth’s (where Hinkcley was sent). I have seen Dr Samenow present in person..He has written the excellant book “The Criminal Mind”. he works with these types all the time and is well versed on this.
As a very astute movie audience member stated “let’s face it, there are a few Fruit Loops out their that are going to kill regardless of the means, bombs, guns, gas whatever. You’re not going to stop this kind of thing unless you completely control ever single member of society.”

Sorry to hear about your misreable experience.
My line in the sand. Waiting to board flight in KC late at night with several others to return to Texas. Had already been groped once. Male Gestapo member of TSA said all of us had to be screened again because it was shift change time and there weren’t enough new people in line for them to complete their designated quota of complete searches at the beginning of each shift.
I completely lost it and didn’t care. Used to live in KC and have friends there that are attorneys. They left me until last and then waved me through saying it was because they had no female TSA agents available on that shift but they would make sure that I was screened at my destination before I was allowed to leave the boarding area. Once in the air, I talked with one of the flight attendants and the Captain and I was not rescreened in Houston but did walk out with them.
Neither I nor any member of my family will fly again until TSA is gone. If we can’t drive, we just won’t go. All of my business clients in other cities understand and are very supportive of my decision.
I think what we know of his history clearly points to Schizoid Personality Disorder possibly progressing into Delayed Adolescent-Onset Schizophrenia. Borderline Personality Disorder, OTOH, would ordinarily involve a lengthy history of stormy interpersonal conflicts and contacts with social agencies and/or law enforcement with impulsive acts (this episode seemed to be anything but impulsive as it was planned for months). This guy was just a “different” sort: a loner. Obviously the act itself involves sociopathic behavior. Whatever his correct diagnosis I do believe his ability to understand right and wrong was intact, although possibly distorted. His telephone message seems just like one a guy I knew in high school and college would make; that guy committed suicide after becoming increasingly more bizarre and being diagnosed as schizophrenic. He would do things like come and bang on my dorm room door late at night for no reason and giggling like The Joker.

My sister is diagnosed with BPD. Short of a suicide attempt or rather a fake one that she told a friend about, she has never had contact with social agencies nor law enforcement.
My SIL as well. Never in trouble. The big thing about BPD patients is they refuse to believe their diagnosis. They just walk away from it. No follow up, no post care. If it’s an adult, even the parents can’t do anything to help. In most states, they can only be held for three days in a Ward.
They KNOW how to play people, they are quiet and dangerous. They cling when they need to and are easy to come up with a past that fits their plans.
I worked Psych. I saw lots of them as well. P/S are easy to work with as long as they stay on their med and don’t drink away their monthly Prolixin depot. BPD patients are the planners. As long as their end task is at hand, (like stalking someone) they will do whatever it takes to complete it.
