Proof! Establishment media controlled
WND ^ | July 22, 2012 | Joseph Farah

Posted on 07/22/2012 7:11:30 PM PDT by MulberryDraw

There was a rather low-key confession made in the New York Times last week that deserves to be blared throughout this country so that every American understands what they are reading in the establishment’s ultra-controlled, government-managed “press” – and I use that last word loosely indeed.

The admission came in the form of a story by Jeremy Peters on the politics page of the Times July 16.

[snip]

What this shocking story reveals is that even I – one of the kingpins of the new media and a refugee from the state-controlled spin machine – underestimated the utter and total corruption of the euphemistically called “mainstream press.”

If Romney gets in the “news” media will suddenly grow a pair and refuse to cooperate with Quote Approval - they won’t want to protect Romney like they do Zero.

So does the Romney campaign.

Over the years, Rush’s montages (for just ONE) have proved manipulation by the media.
Surprising this is in the slimes, though...

FR is a collection, an archive of the msm’s horridness.

I don't even blame the politicians. They're supposed to try to control their message.

But the journalists are such toadies. They have no pride in their work. In different times and in other locations today, journalists risk being imprisoned and killed to reveal the truth behind power.

The journalistic renfields in this country just hope for an extra bug to eat and an approving nod from master.

I suggest that everyone goes and reads the original article thoroughly. The Romney people get to exert much of the same control. This is more evidence that Romney is part of the Establishment.

The question becomes, "would Herman Cain or Sarah Palin get such deference?"

Yes.

It doesn't matter who it is, if they are a major party's nominee for president.

If these toadie reporters feel they absolutely must have direct quotes from the big players, they agree to whatever they are asked.

They have no concept how to do actual journalism, they just need the famous politician to say something that they can write down. Then they can resume getting drunk.

I’ve been waiting for others to point it out, discuss it, debate it, express shock and exasperation over it. But I’ve waited for naught.
Since the website requires a person to register to read their site I'm not surprised nobody read it.

Even after having read this article I'm not going to register to go read it even though I'm highly interested.

CAMPAIGNS APPEAR TO GET IN THE LAST WORD

Quote approval is standard practice for the Obama campaign. It is also commonplace throughout Washington and on the campaign trail.

Why the sudden shock about a practice that has been going on for some time?
Is Farah claiming he didn't know it's been going on?

In my reporter days, any time I had a questionable quote I would phone the person quoted (NEVER would I submit my copy for approval) and ask if he or she did indeed say that.

The story WILL run, whether you like it or not, but would you please clarify this one quote?

“Honest journalism” is dead. I was taught to have a “polite but adversarial” relationship with politicians. Today, it is a “warmly incestuous” relationship.

MSM has to be the least respected profession of our time. They are worse snake -oil salesmen, whores, banksters. I have to think that they are only slightly more respectable than terrorists and pedophiles.

Don’t leave Rush out of the “controlled” category.

Clearly he has had the law laid down for him as well.

At least for one particular issue

The first thing I thought about when reading this article were Rush’s montages too. Gravitas was one of my favorites, however they are all hilarious. The mainstream media is a joke. They will never recover any credibility with those of us that have our eyes open.

"Link to the NYT piece (hope it doesn’t soil your monitor):"

I had a long road trip today as a passenger and bought the slimes to read and educate myself. Some of the stuff was unbelievable and I was truly educated as to where the Lefties get some of their extreme views from. Some stuff was sophomoric, some was fantasy land, but all of it was way left of center with no balance at all. Afterwards, I felt like taking a shower. Unbelievable biased rubbish.
