It is often noticed that motivation of the grinning psychopaths that open up on unarmed citizens is to be remembered in history.
It appears they have no concern for what punishment lies before them, even the threat of death -- then, or issued as a penalty -- is not enough to deter them, They only seem to want the fame.
What is the solution, then? Gun control is the answer the liberals come up with. Gun control, however, will not stop the grinning psychopath. They will find other ways. Chemicals can be bought and explosives made. Gasoline and proper placement of the fire can trap many dozens. A sword or machete can be used to kill more than a dozen trapped people, and they can be easily fashioned from strips of metal.
Further, let us consider that harming the rights of millions to stop the one or two a year that act out like this, is no solution. It is 'prior restraint', and it is not to be allowed in America.
So what is the solution?
Go to the grinning psychopaths' motivation. Deny them their place in history. Erase their name.
This idea was spawned by the movie '300', in which Xerxes threatens Leonides with annihilation, and banishment from history:
Xerxes, clearly enraged: "There will be no glory in your sacrifice. I will erase even the memory of Sparta from the histories. Every piece of Greek parchment shall be burned. Every Greek historian and every scribe shall have their eyes put out......and their tongues cut from their mouths. Why, uttering the very name of Sparta or Leonidas will be punishable by death! The world will never know you existed at all!!"
Do this punishment for these mass shooters, these grinning psychopaths. The minute their name is known, DO NOT announce it on the news. Refer to them only as Suspect Number (whatever). DO NOT record their name in history books or on Wikipedia or anywhere on the internet.
Banish them to obscurity. Forever.
This will require a great deal of restraint and a truly disciplined society, at least where this is concerned. The news media will need to cooperate. The police will need to cooperate. The good researchers on the internet will need to cooperate. The name will undoubtedly leak out, but if it does, even the common man will need to cooperate and not spread it further.
Deny them their place in history. Refer to them only as Suspect Number (whatever the number happens to be).
Will it stop them all? No. But it will stop a few... quite a few, I suspect.
Get the cops to know the people and the cops will find out who the schizo`s are really quick coz the neighbors will tell them who the strange freako`s are...
That`s what we do here plus we all have guns here and the cops know it and RESPECT US coz most of have shot a gun since we were 6...

This is true. A voluntary news oblivion would be the best we could hope. How about it Barack. Tell your lapdogs to do their tricks.
What about the idea of criminalizing it... not the details, not even the photo, just the mention of the name. A court order slapped on name mention right away, and contempt of court misdemeanor if violated.... promoted to a felony mention charge if mentioned after conviction.

If they think there’s a good chance their plan will end in failure—as in, citizens with guns might be there—the sociopath won’t try it in the first place because failure is a narcissistic injury.
Again won’t fly with a modern 1st Amendment.
Maybe in some silly la la land we can talk about this, but not America. For corn sakes not even Singapore would do that. (Singapore would cane him to death or something, but not this.)
We are working out the details if legislation is to be considered, voluntary compliance would be good, but you made a darn good point about those who LIKE evil.
Unfortunately the gun-grabbers have a political objective to keep stories like these front and center.

You know, I’m now not sure if high placed Democrats would cooperate in asking the media to shame mass attackers like this (whether shooting, robbery, rape, whatever). Because they might WANT the chaos and social fretting and worry. Damping it down wouldn’t serve Alinsky well at all.
It might be a violation of the First Amendment, I will grant you that. Of course, with today’s supreme court (lack of capitalisation purposed), it might fly.

Nah, this is one of the few issues that generally gets unanimous votes out of them.
