Obama Tells Tall Tales About the Bush Years
Investor's Business Daily ^ | 07/23/2012 | John Merline

Posted on 07/23/2012 7:06:11 AM PDT by IBD editorial writer

A key attack line in President Obama's campaign stump speech these days is to claim that the country has tried Mitt Romney's economic policies already, and they were a dismal failure.

Romney, he says, wants to do two things: Cut taxes for the rich and massively deregulate the economy.

"The truth is," Obama says, "we tried (that) for almost a decade, and it didn't work."

Bush-era tax cuts and deregulation, he argues "resulted in the most sluggish job growth in decades" along with "rising inequality, surpluses turned into deficits, culminating in the worst economic crisis in our lifetimes."

There's just one problem. Obama's got his history wrong.

Why doesn’t someone, anyone, in the GOP come out with the unemployment statistics for Bush’s two terms? It was basically in the low 5’s until the very end of his second term when it spiked after the real estate collapse. It seems to me an ad needs to address this big lie that has been told for the past 4 years.

Let’s face it. Obama is a liar and he engages in lying frequently.

Remember, he believes that the END JUSTIFIES THE MEANS.

IF he was a Christian, he would know better.

Every time I hear some Dem saying Romney wants to go back to the policies that got us here, I want to scream “Name one!”.

The headline should read “Obama Tells Tall Tales”.

Mitt will miss a great opportunity if he doesn't remind people (and keep pounding it into their skulls) that it was the RATS that took over the congress during the last two years of the Bush administration. Everything was going along great guns until them. Then something called the housing bubble created by Frank/Dodd turned everything around. Facts are very inconvenient when you are a liberal.

Same thing when he says, “When we came in we were losing 700 thousand jobs a month.” As if that was Bush’s record for 8 years. It was 1-2 months at the very peak of the crisis (after Obama was elected). And he wants people to think we’d still be losing 700 thousand jobs today if it weren’t for Bozo. It’s all a lie.

‘When we came in we were losing 700 thousand jobs a month.”
There’s a reason the job cuts came after the election. There was a storm brewing. ‘We saw you coming, Barack Obama’, so says the business community. Prudent, logical and reasonable operators didn’t need a weatherman to know which way the wind was blowing.

Without re-writing history, the left would have nothing. They must change the meaning of words, they must re-write history and their willfully ignorant voters will fall for it every time.

The media and our failed public education system have done an excellent job of pointing a finger at any president for a good/bad economy when it is congress that controls the purse strings yes, minus a veto from the prez.

The economy was growing with Bush AND a republican controlled congress. Because of many factors, expecially thanks to Jimmy Carter & Barney Frank and the Community Reinvestment Act, the economy started to tank when we lost congress to the communists.

I get so frustrated listening to MOST conservatives when confronted with “IT’S Bush’s Fault” that they never comeback with the fact in the previous paragraph but immediately try to defend their position. Once again we allow the enemy within to define the debate and debate on their wordsmithed terms.

Just for once I’d like to see some conservative go on the attack when confronted with “IT’S Bush’s Fault” instead of immediately going on the defensive.
