The leading candidates in Washington's tight gubernatorial race both issued statements opposing the Boy Scouts of America's recent decision to retain a policy prohibiting gay Scouts and leaders.
Democrat Jay Inslee and Republican Rob McKenna both chastised the organization for the announcement that their secret committee unanimously refused to change the discriminatory policy.

Democrat Jay Inslee and Republican Rob McKenna are
both are enablers of Pedophilia
Inslee and McKenna sound like they might be big Jerry Sandusky fans.
America is now officially in the toilet.
Indeed they are!!! And excuse me, but the USSC said they have freedom of association! Who is that “r” who is saying those things?? He is obviously a d plant.
Maybe they can organize Homo Scouties of Amerika.
McKenna opposes the legalization of same-sex marriage and believes that the legality of gay marriage should be decided by a popular vote. He supports civil unions.
McKenna is pro-choice, and wants to ensure that all pharmacies sell the morning-after pill. As a general provision, McKenna would support legislation that would require parental notification before a minor obtains an abortion. “I’m like a lot of parents,” McKenna said. “When your daughter turns 13 and the mom is kicked out of the examining room for anything related to reproductive health, it’s troubling for a lot of parents.”
Now, all the politically correct people are happy, Yes?
Fine. Invent the Gay Scouts and see how many join.
BSA didn’t do the correct thing, they dug in their heels and did THE RIGHT thing!
Brave, very brave.
Now its up to all of us to take up the slack and support the BSA with any kind of fund raising we can think of.
They are standing alone against an enormous onslaught. You can stick your finger in the eye of ACLU and the queer nation by finding a troop and helping them raise money.
Get ready to get flamers and hate mail like you never could believe.
Buy the popcorn!
Whether you like it or not, the BSA has a first amendment right TO ASSOCIATE. Which means they can associate with people of THEIR CHOOSING, and conversely, they can DISASSOCIATE with those who they CHOOSE to not associate.
Why is it sooo important for you to force yourself on people who wish to not associate with you?
Its not a criticism, but I am truly puzzled why you insist on going where folks don’t like you. When I run into people who don’t like me and wish to exclude me, I take the hint and go elsewhere!
Forcing people to accept you is not acceptance, its FORCE. And underneath, people really resent that.
Wonderful, even the Republican candidate is now siding with the homosexual take on Boy Scouts. Boy Scouts, Little League, Pop Warner, etc. have always been targets for those pushing the homosexual agenda because they believe that if they can get to those organizations, they’ll be viewed as mainstream. Their mistake is thinking that regular people will ever identify with them or their lifestyle.
I had already decided to not vote in the presidential race and now am losing Washington regional candidates one by one. Well, at least we have the anti-gay marriage initiative so I’ll still vote for that.
Gotta bucket full right here. Methinks this thread might get a little “testy.” (Pun intended)
Now that I’ve stirred the pot, I think I’ll just log off and watch.
The onus is on them to prove otherwise. Remember, the Democrats lesson to us all is that it is the serious of the charge, not the quality of the evidence.
You would think that the Dem candidate would chastise the Boy Scouts, and the GOP candidate would applaud them. Pretty pathetic that they both chastised them.
Homosexuals practice a perversion of nature that is condemned in the Bible, the Torah, and even the koran.
Someone can claim or truly be conservative with money and most politics but when they try to say perversions are the same as skin colors they are fooling only themselves.
me or Rob ?
me or Rob ?
All this is beside the point. The Scouts have always depended on corporate America for its major funding. Now corporate America is joining the rest of the elite, which includes the Republican Establishment, in furthering the gay agenda.
In other words, it isn't enough to tolerate the gay "lifestyle"; we all have to live it. It has to be part of everything we do, everywhere we go. We can't have any part of our lives where we choose our beliefs.
Well, I for one don't accept this. I'll never love Gay Big Brother. So just get over it.
“They are standing alone against an enormous onslaught.”
Since losing millions due to their “homosexual problem”, the Catholic Church now officially bans homosexuals from the seminaries; the Boy Scouts are not alone.
All of my Boeing family want out of Queer-attle. Where I grew up is now a gang infested neighborhood thanks to de-segregation and the Democrat welfare state. Even the Island counties are turning to sh!t. I told people years ago when they start putting in low income housing projects and section 8 houses....RUN! Your neighbors who voted in all these wonderful Democrats who live in gated segregated communities have sold you down the toilet.
You are on the mark with the corporate cowardice. That’s why I say, replace that with money from the “little guy.”
Anyone, anyone at all can hold a fund raiser and give those bux to the BSA. I know a lot of bikers who have “adopted” scout troops.
We thought at first, the BSA would shun us. Bikers you know, riff raff, we’re not a savory sort.
But, what we found was an open door that caught us off guard. We didn’t raise much with a short run, but we were responsible for helping a troop get to their camporee. Most satisfying. And the boys and parents were most appreciative. Imagine that. BSA and bikers.
Reach out to a local troop. Ask them what they need. Help them get there.
As a practical matter, there is little to distinguish McKenna from Gregoire. Ignore what McKenna says and watch what he does.
I will not sit on my thumbs and do nothing.
The BSA may take some hits, but it will be up to the right minded Scouters, parents and families of Scouts to stand firm in the face of this onslaught on our freedom to associate with those we choose.
And many will.
The only ones who lose though are the boys, there will be no “winners” in this war.
If you let them in, figure on a whole bunch of Sanduskys 10 years from now. They are people doing something wrong!
Tools for Fools.
I think we are on the same page.
I disagree with your opinion that the boys will suffer. In my opinion, it makes them even stronger. I grew up watching John Wayne, Lone Ranger, Rifleman.
Standing up for what you believe, even if you get defeated, you still took up the challenge and did NOT compromise your principles.
Thermopolie, Alamo, Wake Island, Corrigador and on and on.
Small point, but I think the boys, win or lose, will be able to hold their heads high. Win or lose, they DID NOT COMPROMISE.
And that means everything.
Yeah, unfortunate that it cost the Church so much to learn that hard lesson.
There was a reason that the CIA and other intelligence agencies banned queers for the longest time.
The State of Washington is notoriously liberal, gay and atheist. A state of despair and perdition.
I guess you missed my point which, very possibly, was badly made....I was pointing out the outrage that was directed at the Catholic Church and Penn State for *not* preventing child abuse and yet the Boy Scouts are slammed for trying to do exactly that.
Yes there will be winners.
The boys who will not fall victim to the pedophiles!
Oh Geez, my bad.
But hey, a little help here!
/>s changes the whole attitude of the post!
Sorry if I crossed you up. Really.
Being a Washingtonian, I was disappointed to learn this about McKenna, but I figure he’s in the same boat as Romney was in Mass. You’re a Republican running for guv in a heavily liberal state and if you expect any chance of winning, you have to say things that you may not really believe. That’s just the way it is.
I meant /S>!
What a night.
I’m curious, do the Girl Scouts allow men to be leaders and supervise overnight campouts?
The state should be renamed; it is a disgrace to the memory of General Washington. It did have one good official since World War II, a former representative named Jack Metcalfe.
You don’t count “Scoop” Jackson?
They chase independent voters, as if those voters are just politically ambivalent and easily swayed people.
Almost every registered independent voter I know is socially and fiscally conservative.
Have to give it to the Scouts for holding fast. Have a relative who was leader in HDG in Irving. The Scours poured thousands of pages of personel files, and they could if pressed dump much evidence in the lap of those who protest against the present policy. It made no difference to two member of the board who are being pressured by their friends in high society to conform to elite opinion. We can see what that is by looking at the Bushes., who have always been weton the social issues. The Scouts have had to deal with many more than one Jerry Sandusky, which is why their policy has been to exclude homosexuals, because of the risk.
No disrespect intended but what do you mean by “heavily liberal state”???
Our representatives will more than likely be 5D’s and 5R’s after November and didn’t Dino Rossi nearly win a few years back?
Four years ago Gregoire won by taking 7 of the 39 counties.
After November, Washington state will be in the Toss-up catagory!
mckenna of course. is he a weirdo?
By “lose” I meant they’re getting embroiled in a war not of their making or choosing.
They will be used as pawns, vilified in public, scorned, etc. just like at the DNC convention some years back when they were booed by the RATS, solely because they wear the uniform and participate in activities without fear of molestation.
Yes, many will be made stronger, some however, will wilt under the pressure.
The whole thing is a damn shame, but the queers wanted this fight, so a fight it is.
But TY makes a really good point as well, those not molested by the queers will be the real winners and I believe that to be the crux of the issue.
Maybe even pratcitioners.
