Sorry, but no.
If Joe Paterno had told Spanier to tar and feather Sandusky and ride him out of town on a rail, Jerry would still be picking down from his ears.
The whole point of this madness was that the football program was in control of the University- and Paterno was in control of the football program. Witness Spanier and Curley being thrown out of Paterno's house when they asked him to retire.
As for Spanier, he'll be indicted by another grand jury in the near future, but by no means was Spanier Spandusky's primary enabler.
Sandusky was diddling boys long before Spanier came to Happy Valley.
Oh get over it. Graham Spanier was President of the University in control of budgets, curriculum, personnel from 1995 to 2011. Paterno controlled the football program but not other program's budgets, curriculum, or personnel. And he certainly was not responsible for the homosexual friendly curriculum and personnel that provided cover for Sandusky.
Sandusky no longer worked for Paterno after 1999, but he was working for Spanier due to the padded retirement agreement that Spanier gave him.
Witness Spanier and Curley being thrown out of Paterno's house when they asked him to retire.
Wow -- the audacity to do that to a god, unless it's being done by one who considers himself more powerful. If Paterno controlled the university, then what made Spanier and Curley think that they could force his resignation??? Hmmmm?
