Republicans blast Pentagon for allowing military uniforms in gay pride parade
The Hill ^ | July 24, 2012 | Jeremy Herb

Republican lawmakers are blasting the Pentagon's decision to allow troops to march in uniform at a San Diego gay pride parade last week.

Two senior Republicans on the House and Senate Armed Services committees said Tuesday that the Pentagon was out of line to grant the one-time exemption that allowed military uniforms in the parade.

Rep. Randy Forbes (R-Va.) said the Pentagon made a “dangerous exception” to its policy of not allowing military uniforms in parades. In a statement, the Armed Forces Readiness subcommittee chairman said that the decision was a made to advance the Obama administration’s social agenda.

“I am calling on the DOD to halt these dangerous exceptions to policy for political purposes. This decision was an outrageous and blatantly political determination issued solely to advance this Administration’s social agenda,” Forbes said in a statement Tuesday.

“Sadly, this is yet another violation in what has become a pattern of this Administration’s assault on the longstanding history of the Department of Defense as a nonpolitical organization,” he said.

Sen. Jim Inhofe (R-Okla.) wrote a letter to Defense Secretary Leon Panetta asking for an explanation behind making the exemption in light of the military's "unambiguous regulations" to preserve its apolitical stance.

"If the Navy can punish a Chaplain for participating in a pro-life event or a Marine participating in a political rally, it stands to reason that DOD should maintain the same standard and preclude service members in uniform from marching in a gay pride parade," Inhofe said. "I respectfully request a detailed explanation of the rational you used to grant this ‘one time waiver’ of DOD policy, who requested the waiver, why this waiver was considered justified over other requests, and whether you are considering other exceptions to current policy.”

Both Inhofe and Forbes said that the Pentagon’s decision to allow the service members to participate in the parade in uniform was in clear violation of Defense Department rules on participating in political activities while in uniform.

Forbes pointed to a press release from San Diego LGBT Pride that said the inclusion of military uniforms was helping celebrate the “growing list of states with marriage equality.”

The Pentagon said last week that it was allowing an exemption for military personnel to wear their uniforms at the San Diego gay pride parade but that the exemption only covered that parade and not future ones.

about time a couple of them get the guts to take on the social homo agenda , and good for them now if only the GOP could follow suit.

The only reason they have made a mockery of the military and the social stance is because to may, far too many have kept teir mouths shut and the public stays in the dark about this dangerous communist , mental sickness agenda.

Just wondering, is bisexuality and transgenderism also allowed in the military?

When are we Americans going to stand up to craziness? Any movement with the “BT” added to lgbt is a radical crazies movement.

Playing dress up, taking hormones to “change” gender, and going both ways are not worthy of serious political or societal respect.

not going to do a long post about it again but yesterday I went with my oldest to the marine recruiting office and trust me the marines and the miltiary today are nothing but a PC establishment.

I came away from there disgusted in how the military has changed.

I asked about homosexuals sharing showers, rooms, and sleeping bags with my son and he told us that he would never be forced to do that or it would never happen.

I asked if women are now serving in combat in the marines then why are thye allowed to serve along my son when those same women have not done the same physical test to get to where my son was and asked who woudl be carrying their weight etc.

He told me that the wmen does the same test and then said but they do less pull ups. less sit ups, less weight, more time for running.
How one earth is that the same test then?

The rest of the conversation was about him telling us how he served 4 years witht he President , how he was the best, how he was chosen based on grades etc

Did you know now that you only have to do two pulls up to get intot he marines and to finish the final test you only have to do 4, , do 55 sit ups in 2 mins and run in shorts, sneakers and a shirt 3 miles in 28 mins.

Hell I can still do that now, but he
s trying to tell me it’s harder than I was in, HUH

Ah,, for the good ol’ days when soldiers and airmen and sailors were only allowed off base in civilian cloths or full dress uniform. Now they go off base in what we called “fatigues” and “utilities” and wear the full dress uniform in gay pride parades.

I didn't know as far as the bi's and tranny's but here's an excerpt from a proclamation by Zer0 on the White House website. It's pretty pathetic, he groups them with lesbians and gays:

Presidential Proclamation: Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, and Transgender Pride Month, 2012

Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, and Transgender Pride Month, 2012

By The President Of The United States Of America

A Proclamation

From generation to generation, ordinary Americans have led a proud and inexorable march toward freedom, fairness, and full equality under the law ‑‑ not just for some, but for all. Ours is a heritage forged by those who organized, agitated, and advocated for change; who wielded love stronger than hate and hope more powerful than insult or injury; who fought to build for themselves and their families a Nation where no one is a second-class citizen, no one is denied basic rights, and all of us are free to live and love as we see fit.

The lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender (LGBT) community has written a proud chapter in this fundamentally American story. From brave men and women who came out and spoke out, to union and faith leaders who rallied for equality, to activists and advocates who challenged unjust laws and marched on Washington, LGBT Americans and allies have achieved what once seemed inconceivable. This month, we reflect on their enduring legacy, celebrate the movement that has made progress possible, and recommit to securing the fullest blessings of freedom for all Americans.

The US Congress has jurisdiction over this.

The officers do not, regardless of what they would or would onot have said about it, and it would have been negative, I imagine.

At this time the Officers are wondering where are the civilians and the Congress, who should protect them, over this.

The military protects us from declared foreign enemies and we are to protect the military by taking charge of those dopes in the Congress, court and Executibe Branch who work For Us.

I didn’t read the whole thing but he later seems to exclude tranny’s from the military:

excerpt:

“Because we repealed “Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell,” gay, lesbian, and bisexual Americans can serve their country”

“Who ever thought our sailors and soldiers would be saluting this in uniform?”

It is certainly an embarassment to this old vet. However, they have made a serious blunder here. IF they refuse to allow other “groups” to weat uniforms while participating in “political leaning” events....they are going to get sued.

Unless the POTUS personnally ordered this, and takes responsibility for it, they the person or persons responsible should be out on the streets unemployed. It is an unforgiveable mistake.

Of course, I’m surprized Romney and Obama weren’t both marching with them!

Best quote from the article:

“If the Navy can punish a Chaplain for participating in a pro-life event or a Marine participating in a political rally, it stands to reason that DOD should maintain the same standard and preclude service members in uniform from marching in a gay pride parade,” Inhofe said. “I respectfully request a detailed explanation of the rational you used to grant this ‘one time waiver’ of DOD policy, who requested the waiver, why this waiver was considered justified over other requests, and whether you are considering other exceptions to current policy.”

our Military under the obama administration is a total embarrASSment.

This is NOT the military that my dad, brother, and husband served in..nor my many uncles who served in WW1 and WW11...

obama was not raised an AMERICAN and he does NOT know the History of this Nation...all he does is read what someone writes for him..I laughed when I read his remarks about Sally Ride...bet he didn't even know what or who she was, he just reads or someone reads what was written for him..what a joke he has been..time to VOTE HIM OUT.

"IF they refuse to allow other “groups” to wear uniforms while participating in “political leaning” events....they are going to get sued."

Doubtful...Some individuals/groups/etc are "more equal" than other 'citizens' nowdays.
That things have gone as far as they have, at this point, is a good indicator of just how far our country has fallen.
The inmates are running the asylum, and all that...
