that’s because helicopters don’t actually fly — they beat the air into submission. The natural vibration of the shooting platform plus recoil introduce a substantial MOA.

always intent on avoiding hitting “friendlies”, with donkey’s and old person with cane standing out... however, wouldn’t want to be an innocent male going from one tent to another with anything strung to my back - canteen, backpack, etc.
A bit of concern though, for stuff like this on the net where the unfriendlies can study it. any combatants that might use their rifle as a “cane”, or just play dead at the first sight of fire, could acquire an advantage.

Those FLIR cameras have amazing resolution. You can clearly see the weaponry, and distinguish between the women/children and the fighters.
It seems that these Taliban have no clue where the Apaches are, how far away are they? Is this FLIR imagery quite telescopic?
The 30mm do seem to "miss" quite a bit, I have seen other footage, perhaps from closer range, where the spread is minimal, almost laser like. On the other hand, even a close miss (couple of feet) seems to do significant damage. Exploding/incendiary rounds?
The professionalism of the pilots/gunners never ceases to amaze me. They talk like technicians out there, and stay fairly matter-of-fact in the midst of the mayhem.
The Hellfire missle is aptly named, it packs quite a punch for such a little guy. No direct hit neccessary. Amazing accuracy though, the final poor bastard got one dropped right on his head! Even the gunner was flabbergasted.
It seems to me that if these guys were to play dead, more of them would survive, you see these apache's going around doing clean up, where they take out the stragglers/strugglers.
In some ways, my heart still goes out to these poor bastards. While I take comfort in knowing the enemy is being killed, I still feel somewhat bad that a person, a human soul, that has died. The waste of humanity like that is a tragedy. And all because of the mind virus that is their religion and ideology..

Seems they were firing some heavy stuff, either a 25MM or a 30MM. Isn't that overkill for anti-personnel in the open? Wouldn't a 7.62 mini-gun fit the bill a bit better? More rounds. Easier correction, e.g., the M60 on the bungee cord set-up.
It took two Apaches? Well, I guess it’s always good to have a back-up weapon.
