Bill O’Reilly’s Anti-gun Blarney
The New American ^ | 25 July 2012 | Selwyn Duke

We expect anti-gun nonsense from people such as Bill Moyers and Little Big Gulp Bloomberg, but we might hope that Fox News’s Bill O’Reilly wouldn’t evoke an eye-rolling “Oh, really!” when discussing the subject. But as the crusty commentator further proved last night while arguing with a guest, Congressman Jason Chaffetz (R-Utah), he still hasn’t done his homework on the firearms issue.

In full-fire mode while talking about the Aurora tragedy with Chaffetz, O’Reilly insisted that there should be special reporting to the FBI when people purchase, as he put it, “heavy weapons … mortars, howitzers, machine guns....” The ignorance displayed through that comment is profound.

First, if we instituted O’Reilly’s policy, obtaining a mortar, howitzer, or machine gun would be far easier than it currently is, as such weapons are tightly controlled under the National Firearms Act. In fact, the hoops one must jump through to purchase such weaponry include, but may not be limited to

O’Reilly is a rude, pompous statist gasbag. Stopped watching him long ago.

As FNC gets more and more left-wing, he’ll be unleashed.

It's probably some sort of burnout, 10 - 15 years ago he seemed sensible and genuine, as of late he leaves a lot to be desired.

Lately he has been threatening to retire and pull all his money out of US investments and move them into offshore tax havens if the Obama administration raises taxes on the wealthy. Ironically, that's the most effective argument I've heard so far for supporting the Obama tax plan...

“I think as conservatives we gain credibility with everyone when we recognize that even a fellow conservative is full of it.”

To suggest that Bill O’Reilly is a conservative...Ha...He is not one, and at best he could be labeled a pseudo-conservative (someone left of center masquerading as a conservative).

Bill is full of it...and it is brown stuff.

We have to realize that the biggest “spinner” in The NO Spin Zone is O’Gasbag. Like most jerks that went to BU, he’s a self-serving jerk who’s biggest problem is how to get FUBO back in for an “interview.” He will sell his soul for ratings. The other area where he’s basically in the tank is on the “birther” stuff. He just “knows” from his “research” that FUBO is a natural born citizen.

I think as conservatives we gain credibility with everyone when we recognize that even a fellow conservative is full of it.

I wouldn't even call O'Reilly a conservative, if anything he's a populist. He sticks his finger in the air to see which way public opinon is blowing on an issue then takes that side. If you watch him for any period of time you realize that he NEVER goes out on a limb and takes a truly controversial or unpopular view on anything. On the issue of gun control he screwed up, he assumed that in the aftermath of the shooting people would be more supportive of gun control, (probably because that's what he was hearing from his liberal New York friends), he was wrong. I predict he will either drop the issue or backtrack in the next couple days. He doesn't like taking flak.

BOR attempts to cover his ignorance with yells, shouts, flailing arms, flying spittle, wide ‘rolling’ eyes and constant interruptions. BOR has lost both the battle and the war.

We have to realize that the biggest “spinner” in The NO Spin Zone is O’Gasbag. Like most jerks that went to BU ( the biggest “collection” in their main library is that of Dan Rather’s “papers”), he’s a self-serving jerk who’s biggest problem is how to get FUBO back in for an “interview.” He will sell his soul for ratings. ...he still hasn’t done his homework on the firearms issue.

Sure he has. He knows the facts. It's all about him, his show, his ratings and, most of all, his wallet.

BOR is not a conservative and is a narcissist just like his pal obama. I switch to the Military Channel when he is on.

"With BOR, it’s all about him."

The problem is that he has the ratings. By appealing to the lowest common denominator, he gets the biggest audience but when you look at his competition what do you expect?

There is a reason why Rush dubbed him Ted Baxter.

God has given me just some many minutes in my life. I simply refuse to waste them watching any MSM news channel. FOX, CNN, whatever, I do not waste my time on them. I come to FR and the Internet to check out the news I want to check out each day and can simply move on without having to listen to their crap.

My apologies to the chimps...sometimes we get our spellings confused, as in ‘chimp’ vs ‘chump’

I don’t see the comparison to Ted Baxter, except a similarity in looks. Ted Baxter was constantly being put down by his co-workers and he was funny. I liked Ted Baxter. He wasn’t mean or spoke down to Mary, Lou, or Murray. If anything, it was the reverse. O’Reilly is full of himself, panders to Obama, and is just plain rude.

There was also a certain vulnerability to Ted Baxter, which isn’t there with O’Reilly.

” O’Reilly is full of himself, “

And not the sharpest knife in the drawer. Hence the tag Ted Baxter.
