Defense Minister Ehud Barak said on Wednesday that Israel will soon need to reach decisions regarding Iran.

Speaking during a graduation ceremony at the National Security College, Barak said, “The State of Israel is facing some of the most complex challenges which its security and political leadership has ever had to face.

“We may be required to make difficult decisions concerning the national security of Israel and ensuring its future,” he said. ...

If you’d like a clue on the whole show, read Psalm 83.

It prophecies a total defeat of all of Judah’s enemies soon. This is not to be confused with Armageddon, where all the enemies of God are to be defeated; Psalm 83 comes first.

That’s reassuring, but doesn’t help with the logistical, tactical and political questions that have to be answered in order to attack Iran, keep Pakistan from entering the fray as it has threatened to, etc., etc.

Psalm 83 O God, do not keep silent; be not quiet, O God, be not still. See how your enemies are astir, how your foes rear their heads. With cunning they conspire against your people; they plot against those you cherish.

“Come,” they say, “let us destroy them as a nation, that the name of Israel be remembered no more.”

With one mind they plot together; they form an alliance against you- the tents of Edom and the Ishmaelites, of Moab and the Hagrites, Gebal, Ammon and Amalek, Philistia, with the people of Tyre. Even Assyria has joined them to lend strength to the descendants of Lot. (Ps. 83:1-8)

please explain, yes it's says it will happen, but no hint on consequences. Does Iran win?

Yes, but Psalm 83 does not include Iran.

They are definitely dealing with a multi-dimensional strategic situation. The Iranian crazies have clearly stated that any attack on Syria will create a response from Iran. So Israel must know that if they attack Syria, Iran will attack them.

It is just a shame that we do not have a super weapon... something that could literally demolish and entire city... and a means to deliver that bomb quickly... and a leadership willing to use it when all else fails. In this case... two out of three equals fail.

The only way it could not include Iran is if they surrendered before being attacked.

It makes it plain that Judah prevails, to those used to reading the psalms of David.

Iran, Afganistan, Kazakstan, and Pakistan are all “Persia.”

They all will be completely defeated. That will clear the way for China to enter Meggido with the rest of the world’s troops.

Read it carefully. Persia (Iran) is not mentioned in Psalm 83. That doesn't mean that Iran can not be behind the nations and/or groups that attack Israel at the time, e.g. Hezbollah is Iran's proxy but part of Lebanon's government. But Iran will wait until Gog and Magog.

The question would be what is the time gap between the Psalm 83 War and Gog and Magog? There will be enough time for Israel to think that it can live in peace, to become prosperous (they say it will take a year to start getting gas from the new off-shore gas fields)... but I don't expect it will be much longer than a year. I don't believe Iran will wait too long!

You’re ignoring Israel’s strategy.

When its time to push the “Psalm 83” button, as it is known in Israel, Iran is one of the primary targets.

Israel is the only real military power in the near and middle east, and their primary targets are not their neighbors in the near east, they are iran and pakistan.

OK. How do we launch an expeditionary force without aircraft or even heli-carriers? Do we just send over troop transport and supplies, and wish them good luck? Going in without carriers, where will we set up an air strip? The whole neighborhood is hostile, and fuel constraints could severely limit air support from Israel itself or neighboring Cyprus. Biblical prophesy is all very good, but it’s not a battle plan.

Israel is the inventor of the neutron bomb, and has the missiles deployed.

It’ll be over in an hour.

Really, men don’t need any plan for what God has promised to do, and any planning done is a waste.

I respectfully disagree. G-d’s promise doesn’t work by itself. You need to make the tools that will turn the promise into actuality. Otherwise, the promise will be realized at a later date, due to the fact that nobody made a realistic plan.

Nonsense!

God has no need for the meddling of men.

G-d is in partnership with men. If He did everything Himself, He wouldn’t have needed to create the world altogether. Even the splitting of the red sea would not have occurred had not Nachshon ben Aminadav first simply walked forward and disregarded that obstacle on his way to Mt. Sinai. The most profound miracles happen in the disguise of normalcy, and always require some stimulus from below. Creation itself is a miracle that is renewed every nanosecond. So yes, you do need a battle plan for the final battle.
