Skip to comments.Obama: AK-47s Belong In The Hands Of Soldiers, Not Civilians (video)

I, like most Americans, believe that the Second Amendment guarantees an individual the right to bear arms," President Obama said at the National Urban League convention in New Orleans. "I think we recognize the traditions of gun ownership that passed on from generation to generation. That hunting and shooting are a cherished national heritage."
"But I also believe that a lot of gun owners would agree that AK-47s belong in the hands of soldiers, not in the hands of criminals. That they belong on the battlefield of war, not on the streets of our cities," Obama said Wednesday night.

You know, the communists.
And to think this guy is the Commander in Chief of the US Armed Forces as his primary job role.
It’s none of his damned business what kind of firearms I feel appropriate for the defense of my self and my loved ones.
We are all soldiers defending Liberty. I do not own a gun but I damn sure know how to use one...and I am a hell of a shot.
Oh gosh, even after his team said this was a bad year to go for the gun grab, his little commie got the better of him.
And YOU, Obamadork, belong in jail.
And it is my fervent hope to see you rot there.
In case you miss the point of his comments, he specifically cited the AK-47, rather than the AR-15, as a set up for supporting the UN treaty, due up this Friday.
The NAZI soldiers made great use of their automatic weapons against civilians.
The mask keeps falling off...
Notice how clearly he refuses to include defense of self, state, and the Constitution.
I own a Ruger
Made in the U S A ......
Onward Christian soldiers...
My two AK-patterned rifles and one AK pistol belong exactly where they are now — in my closet at this precise moment.
AK-47: How I met my husband, the father of my amazing four-year-old son and my beauty queen/honey badger one-year-old. FUBO and your fat ass wife!
I hate him at this moment.
I hate him more than I have ever hated an individual in my life. I think that this is the first time that I’ve ever felt hate.
My husband was two blocks from the Fort Hood massacre. 13 innocents lost their lives BECAUSE THE DOD WON’T LET TRAINED SOLDIERS CARRY GUNS ON POST.
Good, strong, trained, heroic men and women were mowed down because the FEDERAL GOVERNMENT WOULDN’T LET THEM PROTECT THEMSELVES.
I hate him so much.
He can take his ‘shout out’ and shove it where the sun doesn’t shine.
If Obama respects the 2nd amendment, what kinds of weapons does he feel it is appropriate for us to have?
"This is the AK-47 assault rifle, the preferred weapon of your enemy; and it makes a distinctive sound when fired at you, so remember it."
Lol, this is rich! Back in the day the only restriction on what you could own was determined by the depth of your pocketbook. Im SURE the Founders would have loved our times with all the really great advances in weaponry. Frankly those Founders the liberals like to speak for would be classified as terrorists by Big Sis and co.
Who does he think he is - George III?
The presidencey should be in the hands of an American and not a muzzy from kenya.
Name one army, irregular militia or even insurgency group that arms itself with the type of AK-47 commonly, legally available in the US.
We don't care what you think. The founders believed the people should have military weapons in case they had to oust a tyrannical government.
A corrupt government fears an armed populace.
Hubert H. Humphrey On The 2nd Amendment
Certainly one of the chief guarantees of freedom under any government, no matter how popular and respected, is the right of citizens to keep and bear arms. This is not to say that firearms should not be very carefully used, and that definite safety rules of precaution should not be taught and enforced. But the right of citizens to bear arms is just one more guarantee against arbitrary government, one more safeguard against tyranny which now appears remote in America, but which historically has proved to be always possible., said Humphrey to Guns Magazine (Know Your Lawmakers, Guns Magazine, Feb. 1960).
I think perhaps that I should mention that Humphrey was a pretty liberal Democrat - for his time.
“That hunting and shooting are a cherished national heritage.....
“AK-47s belong in the hands of soldiers,....”
Oh yeah, the old argument that it’s all about hunting. Give me a break! Guess the RevWar was just a deer shoot. Whoever shot the most deer won?
The ironic thing is all these dopes (as quoted) think “assault weapons” SHOULD NOT be in the hands of anyone BUT soldiers, while that is exactly why we mere citizens need them - to fight those soldiers when they are turned on us.
But no, that never happens, does it?

Forever and then some.
Back when liberals still had an ounce of sanity.
Wonder if dear leader is thinking about all the times the AK was used to overthrow government.
I wish we were more like Switzerland where every male is armed and required to attend training every year, AND the government appears to be aware of the fact. Here, if we were really “soldiers defending liberty”, as someone asserts above, the government thugs would never have dared to pass Obamacare which was opposed by 67% of the population at the time. Remember what happened to the last soldier defending liberty at Ruby Ridge (under a Bush, by the way.)
I saw what you did there, Barry, you worthless piece of filth.
Nobody's arguing about the appropriateness of guns in the hands of criminals. What about peaceable citizens, Barry Hussein? Do you believe that "AK-47s" (could you identify one, if you saw it?) belong in the hands of peaceable citizens? US Constitution says "yes". How 'bout you, Barry?
But it was a sad day last week when it fell out of the canoe in the middle of the lake. Im still grieving.
“That they belong on the battlefield of war, not on the streets of our cities,” Obama said Wednesday night.”
***BUT DRONES ARE OK?*******
Iran is also on the commission.
Seems that you need to be a soldier with an AK47 if you want to take an evening stroll in Chicago on a summers weekend evening! Or Detroit, or Washington, DC, or LA, or any other progressive urban hell hole!
Blame the guy next to you that voted for him.
Universal Suffrage was explicitly warned against by the FOUNDERS, who deliberately did not put a right to vote into the Constitution.
The WASHINGTONIANS in DC have amended the Constitution to expand he Franchise, and as a result degenerates like Clinton, Obama, and soon MYTH ROMNEY are elected POTUS.
This Republic will fall.
The enemy is all around us.
He said this today? Wow. This election is probably over. Bye bye Democrats.
How old is this video?
Do you really think he knows the difference between the two?;)
I totally support the Second Amendment, BUT there are certain guns I want banned. Many gun owners agree with me. Lots.
Well, it’s worked in the past, why not now?
But wait! Our government has no problem arming Libyan and Syrian civilians. Shouldn’t our government help ensure that every American has access to the same weaponry available to Syrians and Libyans? At no charge?
Just in case some eeeeeevil republican conservative assumes the presidency under false pretenses and for all intents and purposes disbands Congress. You know, just in case . .

Pretty ironic coming from the CIC that made soldiers at Fort Hood unable to carry firearms.
Oh, I get it. He meant other nation’s soldiers.
How silly of me.
Gun ban treaty. See item #14, what’s missing here?
Get out of my life, Buckwheat! It’s none of your business. Your “justice department” has killed more people than my .22 or even Ted Kennedy’s Oldsmobile.
Thank goodness Obama doesn't want to take away the AR-15 that replaced it.
I would have kept both, but the Obama Economy has put the dent in my expanding Arsenal Plan.
Then there was that tragic boating accident that decimated my collection. I'm tearing up just thinking about it.
