Evangelist Billy Graham defends Chick-fil-A (compares U.S. to Sodom & Gomorrah)

(CNN) - Billy Graham, the dean of American evangelists, has once again broken his usual silence on hot-button issues, defending the president of the Chick-fil-A restaurant chain for his opposition to same-sex marriage days after issuing a letter decrying what he sees as the nation's moral decay.

Earlier this year, the ailing preacher publicly endorsed a proposed constitutional amendment to ban gay unions in North Carolina, raising eyebrows among many who'd watched Graham studiously avoid thorny social issues for years.

On Thursday, he issued a statement of support for the popular fast-food chain. Many people have slammed Chick-fil-A President Don Cathy for saying his company backs the traditional family unit and is opposed to same-sex marriage.

Graham praised restaurant founder S. Truett Cathy and son Don Cathy, the company's president, "for their strong stand for the Christian faith."

"I've known their family for many years and have watched them grow Chick-fil-A into one of the best businesses in America while never compromising their values," Graham said.

He is definitely one of the watnings God in His mercy has given us in just one more attempt to wake us up and draw us back to 2nd Chronicles 7:14.
I urgently recommend Mr. Cahn’s book. BTW, Rabbi Cahn is a Messianic Jew who pastors a blended congregation of Believers in Wayne, NJ.

Sadly, I agree.

Tell it like it is Billy...

AMEN!

May God Bless this wonderful man of God for taking what, sadly, now must be characterized as a courageous stand. During my coming to age in the 40's and 50's, sodomy was almost universally recognized as a depravity. Now it's become far too widely accepted.

Could it be that as Rev. Graham is moving closer to his maker physically, he is also moving closer spiritually?

I am of the belief that Graham is the Methuselah of our time. When he goes all hell breaks loose.

I've believed this for over 30 years. We're seeing just the tip of the evil iceberg coming our way.

Would be funny if it wasn’t so true.

How do you reconcile this in what Jesus says about Tower of Siloam in Luke and 18 people who were killed there?

I'm 71. When I was 7 or 8, my parents took me with them to hear Billy Graham at the L.A. Coliseum or the Rose Bowl. That was a very long time ago.

Someone please tell me why this is a "hot button issue." It seems pretty no-brainer to me.

Only the homophiles have concocted this fake controversy.

Obama is our punishment.

I heard this from several dedicated Christian men in my circle right after the election. The agreement was convincing.

Billy Graham went PC there for a very long time. Maybe it was about the time he wanted to distance himself from people like Billy James Hargis, maybe it was after getting burned with Richard Nixon, or maybe it was from having to defend "religious freedom" in the USSR when he conducted crusades there. All I know is that for a while there he seemed to go soft.

Nice to see him going against the PC grain. Whether this is through the influence of his son Franklin or because he figures he's old enough now that he has nothing to lose, or for some other reason I don't know.

But it's nice to have him back!

Obama is our punishment.

Four years ago, the nation was given a choice between a moderately pro-life presidential ticket and the most radically pro-abortion politician in the Senate.

America chose the baby-killer. America chose death and destruction ... why should God not give America what America chose?

Agree with you about Jonathan Cahn’s book (highly recommend “The Harbinger”) and about Billy Graham. Have had the opportunity and blessing to hear both of them in person. Praying for a new “Great Awakening” revival.

Perhaps we will be lucky and only 18 people will be killed?

But then again, the SHTF in a nationally disasterous way, who knows. We’ll just have to wait and see and hope in God’s unfathomable mercy.
