Palestinian Delegation Thanks Olympic Committee for Denying Moment of Silence to Honor Murdered

The head of the Palestinian Olympic delegation has thanked the International Olympic Committee for denying, again, requests to hold a moment of silence to honor the 11 Israeli athletes murdered at the 1972 Munich Olympics.

In a letter sent Tuesday to IOC President Jacques Rogge, Jibril Rajoub said any show of solidarity with the victims would constitute “racism.” The Palestinian terror group Black September was responsible for the slayings.

“Sports are a bridge for love, communication and the spreading of peace between nations and should not be used for divisiveness and the spread of racism,” Rajoub wrote, according to the Jewish Telegraphic Agency.

A senior Palestinian Authority official told the Jerusalem Post that Palestinians are opposed to “Israel’s attempts to exploit the Olympic games for propaganda purposes.”

So we should not allow muslims to participate?

Sickening, cowardly capitulation to barbarians by the IOC. And we wonder how murderous dictators ever gain power? With the willing support of cowards supposedly 'in authority', that's how. The IOC should be ashamed but that would require the ability to be embarrassed for acting like pansies.

Oh, I forgot. This is Europe. Never mind.

Does the word "irony" not exist in Levantine Arabic? The Palis and commie Germans politicized the Olympics when the murdered the Israeli team.

There's no such country as "Palestine" and there shouldn't be a "Palestinian" Olympic team.

What if the Israeli Olympic team does something during the parade of nations? What if some people in attendance spontaneously stand or become silent or something? I'm sure either one will send the Arab/moslem crybabies into a boycott.

I was fifteen years old and had just started my sophomore year in high school during the Munich games. I have never forgotten and will never forget the awful atrocity one of the PLO's branches did there.

Three Cheers for Bob Costas - He is outraged and intends to honor the murdered Israeli athletes with his own on-air moment of silence. That would be worth watching right there, I think. As for the abominable Palestinian threat to the IOC, boos should go out for them when they walk by. They’re the racists, and proud of it!

Really? He's going to do that? Wow!

I have the idea that Costas is a liberal, but of course there are still a few liberals who support Israel (which they all used to do). However I may differ with his political philosophy, Bob Costas' stock just went up in my book. But then, back in the day even old time liberal Howard K. Smith was appalled when the IOC forced the Republic of China Olympic team to not use their name and flag in the games.

I always preferred ABC's Olympic coverage, but the late ABC "newsman" Peter Jennings (who was notoriously pro-PLO) never, to the end of his days, referred to the murderers as "terrorists" but only as "guerrillas." Despicable.

She shouldn’t have apologized and she should have gone anyway. There was no legitimate reason to ban her for private politics. Her actions were not against Greek Law or IOC rules.

Bob Costos is a man of courage and honor.

He is in a position at a time in his life and will do the right thing..though he “doesn’t have to.” Great guy for doing this!

I have decided not to watch the Olympics because of this pro-islam pandering and capitulation — but I did catch the opening ceremony when the teams were marching in just as the Israeli team came by - Costas made good on telling the world about the refusal to have any recognition of the 40th anniversary of the murders. I agree that Costas is a Lib, but not your typical new brand. Also read on Debbie Schlussel’s blog how Romney refused to have any acknowledgment back at the 2002 games in Utah. How is he different from Barry Soetoro again??? Crike.

Just don’t make a joke that involves blacks, else you’ll get booted. (see Voula Papachristou)

That was just the excuse they used. Her real offense was supporting the Greek "Golden Dawn" party, which opposes Muslim immigration.
