The recent mass shooting at a Colorado movie theatre has raised questions about access to firearms and renewed calls for stronger gun control laws in the United States.
Talk radio, newspaper editorials and articles, and current affairs television programs in the last week have all had people on both sides of the gun control debate weigh in on whether stricter laws could have prevented the shooting spree in the city of Aurora. Some politicians have called for a review of firearms laws while others have said that if more Americans were allowed to carry guns more easily, maybe one of them could have shot back at the suspect in the movie theatre and prevented injuries and deaths.

All of those guns are available for purchase in Canada for those who have the appropriate licences and permits.
And Obama wants them banned?
Except the ones he let criminals take across the border to Mexico.
Prohibition of concealed carry, which Canada does not permit, destroys the deterrent-effect. Concealed carry in the theater would either have deterred or cut short the Aurora massacre. Banning concealed carry makes an easier argument for handgun grabbers.
I am so sick of the “thousands of rounds” talking point. How many of the 6 k was he carrying? I bet 5,700 of those were not on him and never used in a crime. That point needs to be made loud and often or we will all be buying one box at a time at exorbitant prices with 100% tax after a permit fee and thumb print
No. Obama wants to ban the AK-47 which 'The Joker' didn't even have.
Good think Holmes didn’t have an AK, he’d probably still be there shooting. They almost never jam, unlike AR’s.
It is also okay (maybe even celebrated) to be a nutball in Canada, until such point as your nutball characteristics impact or kill other people.
I'm thinking we, Canada and the rest of the civilized world should just outlaw nutballs.
Problem solved.
I'm available to run for public office as a non-nutball if anybody wants me. Meanwhile, I will endeavour to persevere.
Thank you Josey Wales.
No, thank you; and I am impressed.
