Speaking in front of 60,000 assembled in Hyde Park at a concert to mark the end of the Olympic Torch relay, the London Mayor reaffirmed the city's zeal for the historic event.

'There are some people coming from around the world who don't yet know if we are ready,' the Mr Johnson roared.

'There's a guy called Mitt Romney who wants to know whether we are ready. Are we ready? Yes we are!'

Boris Johnson is not a leftie. He is a conservative, albeit an English one.

I’m sure it was all in fun seeing that Romney was the guy that saved the 2002 games from going down in Olympic flames.

Willard "Myth" Romney is far, far to the Left of Ted Kennedy.

“He is a conservative”

Just did a quick search and found some of his writing:

“Muslims are at the heart of every aspect of society. Their contribution is something that all Londoners benefit from. Muslim police officers, doctors, scientists and teachers are an essential part of the fabric of London.

Islamic finance is contributing to the economy by changing the way Londoners invest, save, borrow and spend. There are valuable lessons that people of all backgrounds can learn from Islam such as the importance of community spirit, family ties, compassion and helping those less fortunate, all of which lie at the heart of the teachings of Ramadan.”

Boris used to be one of the few sane voices in the UK regarding the issue of islam. He was one of those who demanded that muslims adapt to the English values and way of life.

Something has apparently happened to poor Boris. Here's a article that ponders if Boris has converted...Boris Johnson converts to Islam.

Sadly, there was a time when Boris said, "Islam is THE problem!"

Alas...

It actually sounds like a motivational challenge question and reply between a leader and subordinate.

Are your troops ready? Hell yeah we're ready!

It was monumentally stupid for Romney to say what he did. The Left is all over it today. Insulting your host is always boneheaded. It’s crap like this that really worries me going forward.

Romney set himself up for this. If you are a major US political figure you do not go overseas and make a statement that can be regarded as insulting your host.

What a wrong footed foreign trip this has become. Some aide using the term “Anglo-Saxon” when a better term is Anglosphere since as John Sullivan just posted on NRO what brings GB, US, Canada, India, etc together are values and culture not race or ethnicity. Then Romney can’t help himself with a “look at me” statement. These British can’t get their act together but I saved the SLC games. Maybe he should spend his time in France since he claims that is his favorite vacation spot.

Why would Politico use such incendiary language as “Whacks Romney”?

If any violence is attempted upon Mitt Romney, I think we will be able to trace it back to the use of such violent imagery by the editors of Politico.

Oh the babies of FR are crying bwaaa bwaaa Romney never should have said a dumb thing boo hoo it’s so awful!

I read his quote. It was nothing. Amidst widespread reports Britain is NOT ready, I’m sure he was asked if they are. In essence he said, we’ll see and the important thing is to see if all Britains come together for an olympic experience.

Big doo da. The Brits ought to get their rears in gear and not waste time insulting the nest US president.

Why do I know who is writing this stuff before I even see the name? Any chance you can keep your Obama loving BS of this site? His folks have to have one that will please you. Maybe not.

Well then why didn't he just simply say, "We extend our wishes that Britain comes together for an Olympic Experience", and leave it at that.

You know damn well if Obama had said this, you and all the others would have blasted him for it.

“make a statement that can be regarded as insulting your host”

Cameron is a hardcore Obamabot. He deserves the insult.

When he visited the US in March he said that Obama has “strength, moral authority and wisdom” and then refused to meet any of the GOP candidates.

He’s a muslim appeaser, pro-gay marriage socialist. This is not someone you want as an ally.

Well let me tell you why I would blast Obama, it’s because I don’t support Obama and for good reasons.

OTOH I do support Romney likewise for good reasons.

However, an objective reading of Romney’s words equals he said nothing offensive. The Brits apparently require that you kiss their arses on the Olympics just as you must kiss muslim arse there now.

I suggest the mistake is theirs come November. Just maybe they are the stupid ones.

I am not a baby. I am veteran of a thousand psychic wars - well campaigns, anyhow. I know how little dumb things can become huge awful things, when the press is against you. The warning came with yesterday's ridiculous "Anglo-Saxon" nonsense. He should have just smiled and said how he can't wait to see the Olympics and that he wants it to be a huge success. No nuance. NOTHING that the evil scum at the Guardian, BBC and DNC can use against him.

“Much ado about nothing yawnnn”

Right you are, E Plur.

Just the MSM looking for any reason to go after Romney. Yeah, maybe he should not have said it, but the idiot Cammeron, who is no conservative, has made a bigger fool out of himself by his insulting comments, and he may end up looking even more like the fool that he is if Romney proves to be correct. From what I have been reading, the Brits could come off looking rather incompetent due to poor planning.

If you are a veteran of a 1000 whatever campaigns, then you should know not to panic everytime someone gets their panties in a wad. I am reacting in general to the many Freepers who will always show up to immediately panic the moment a republican is criticized for something they said.

I read Romney’s quote and didn’t find in it any criticism of the London preparations. Note they say he “questioned” whether they are ready. The media and other politicians may be responsible for creating a controversey.

The wildly exaggerated reactions to the Chik Fil A owner’s comments are another example, though in that case Freepers did not panic.

I like Boris to some extent - his quirky British way I suppose - but Boris is all about Boris. He doesn’t like criticism and any American would be a good target for him given his base and the way England is heading.

Thanks BarnacleCenturion. When the Muzzies finally start their overthrow of the UK gov't, we should definitely start to do something to help right after people on the eastern seaboard of the US can smell the smoke from everything burning down in Britain.
