Census Shows 200,000 Small Businesses Shut Down From 2008-2010

According to Census figures, some 200,000 small businesses disappeared from the rolls between 2008 and 2010. Those businesses were responsible for some three million jobs. The Obama administration claims that they’re moving in the right direction – but the direction of the economy is now reversing itself.

Not surprisingly, Gallup finds that business owners are turning on President Obama. The national poll showed a 59-35 disapproval/approval split. Workers are split in favor of Obama, thanks in large part to Obama’s heavy emphasis on class warfare.

It is no coincidence that government spending has expanded dramatically during the same period that private sector businesses were going under. And it is no coincidence that, even as the economy falls back into a slump, from the mildest recovery in our lifetime, Obama believes that only more government spending can solve the problem.

“Not surprisingly, Gallup finds that business owners are turning on President Obama.”

That gives the impression that this is a late development; Obama has been bleeding support from independent people (not politically, but economically) since his election. He has done nothing but hamper businesses of every size.

I believe he was told six months ago that he is going to lose in a landslide, and now he is just maximizing damage in return for some guarantees regarding his retirement.

Romney better have some very pointed ads in the works: If you are working for a small business, vote Obama and you could lose your job.

Small business employers should tell their employees how the prospects of their future employment look if Obama wins in Nov.

I'm a small business owner and I am doing my part by not hiring any smarmy little MARXISTS/DEMOCRATS.

Let em starve and freeze in the dark I say. Screw them!

Newsflash: business friend in NY alerted me to a new assesment tax on small businesses to compensate for all the unemloyed collecting unemployment insurance. His employees are working and he’s paying for others not working for him out on unemployment. He and all small businesses were resecently paying an MTA (METROPOLITAN TRANSIT AUTHORITY)tax every quarter because the railroad was running thru the county where he has his business regardless of whether his customers were using the rail or not. If there were ever a time to pay attention and get out and vote it’s now before we all go under, I’m sure this is not the only state. We need to remove the criminal element and install sound fiscal responsibility to all levels of government

“200,000 small businesses disappeared from the rolls between 2008 and 2010. Those businesses were responsible for some three million jobs.”

In addition to this thousand of businesses reduced the number employees, stopped hiring and moved employees from full time to part time. This is what the MSM is covering up. Forget the phony, manipulated statistics. The economy is dying. The middle class are suffering. The productive people who make this country work are losing everything.

Exactly...

I am to the point where I “could” expand.. I’d be able to cover more work, but honestly I am not sure the ROI is there yet. If I hire someone I think it would cost me more than they make at this time.

So, if I expand capacity and wait for demand to catch up (it will... just takes some time) it’s going to be someone I agree with.

I wonder if a guy could ask “so.. who did you vote for?” in a interview. I don’t really have to. My lib detector works incredibly well.

Stop building houses, and what happens? Plumbers, Electricians, carpenters, cable installers, painters, roofers, swimming pool makers, carpet installers, tile installers, masons, furniture sales, appliance sales, AC sales, etc. etc. are all related to home building. When did all the problems arise? The sounds of building are still not being heard, the excavation and cement trucks are not moving back and forth. So is it any wonder why there are so many small businesses shut down? (Rhet.)Its the “Frankanddodd” monster mess.

I am for letting them suffer and starve too. It seems however the ones in my part of the world never seem to suffer at all, in fact they stay steady or even prosper. It is sickening.

Does that count as jobs created or saved? If I listened to the MSM the economy improved daily since the election of Obama.

I closed my business, a paint-wallcovering and remodeling business in the spring of 2008 after twenty five years of working for myself because the economy could no longer support us. It broke my heart. My wife, a full time reator saw sales dry up.

We both took jobs at half of what we were making and cut back on everything. While I do not like Romney at all I welcome someone who has signed the front of a pay check. He is far from the economic savior we deserve but he is light years a head of the Marxist in The White Hut.

I have thought about starting new business with out a standard employee structure by employing contractors and businesses and taking less margin just so I do not have face all the regs and filings.

What is a dreamer to do?

I imagine the number is even greater from 2010 to 2012, add those two together and see where things are actually at...

a head = ahead, one word, and with out=without, one word.

I’m not picking on you, William, honestly, I’m just wondering why I see so much of proper words broken into two words lately - here and everywhere (one word), constantly. I suspect news writers get paid by the word and thus have begun this dividing one word into two, wrecking proper English as they do in all ways. They change our pronunciation of words and spelling of names willy-nilly, so I think that’s it. (As in changing Mao Tse Tung to Mao Zedong when news writers became too lazy and stupid to look it up.)

I doubt I’m the only one noticing this - as rampant!! - so just wanted to throw this in - with a “let’s quit that!” for an aside on a serious thread - sorry, guys. I’ll go away now.
