Ted Nugent stumps for Tommy Thompson, talks guns in Sturtevant(WI)

STURTEVANT- Rock star Ted Nugent came to town to campaign for former governor and Republican U.S. Senate candidate Tommy Thompson on the heels of controversial comments about the Colorado shooting.

Nugent was in Sturtevant for a Thompson rally, and the Second Amendment took center stage -- just a day after Nugent said what happened in Colorado could have been different if the audience had guns of their own.

Ted Nugent got the crowd going at a campaign rally for Tommy Thompson Thursday. But the outspoken rocker is rocking the boat after tweeting about the Colorado shooting, "...we SALUTE the brave warriors who saved lives IF only they would hav had a good gun."

Thompson stopped short of saying he agreed. "I don't know, let's wait until we get the facts in this case"

But Thompson does back what Nugent believes about the right to bear arms.

"He writes about it and talks about it so if you're going to have Ted Nugent here you've got to believe in the Second Amendment which I do," said Thompson.

And Nugent made no apologies. Topic number one when he got on stage: guns.

He told the excited crowd, he wants to have his, he wants them to have theirs and he doesn't want anyone getting in the way of that.

It's a message that hit the right note with many in the crowd.

"If they come for my guns, they better bring theirs," said Dave Ancinec.

According to Tony Sanfelipo, "Just like Ted Nugent says, the Second Amendment is my permit to carry a gun."

I remember Ted from the old days. I remember the lengths he went to in dodging the draft.

And I don't get all misty when his name comes up.

I remember the lengths he went to in dodging the draft. ________________________________________________________________________________________________ I understand where you're coming from, but Ted was from the Vietnam era; as was I. I served, but looking back on it now I can't say as I blame him. I would not want my boys to have to go to "another" Vietnam. That was was the tragedy of the 20th Century. Thanks to the politicians who sent American boys over there to die, but they (politicians) didn't have the balls to let us win the war. We pulled out and turned it over to the Communist after 55,000 American boys were buried back home or rotted in the Viet Nam jungles. I lost friends in that war for NOTHING!!! Richard Nixon, and his "Peace with Honor" campaign to end the Viet Nam war.........."Honor"? My ass.

Do not forget that the MSM not only lost the war for us, but made sure that South Vietnam was taken over by the communists, when their sock puppets in Congress refused to fund ammunition and other vital supplies later on. I think Nixon did the best he could with a bad situation, but he was ousted in the media coup that we call Watergate.

No one is perfect. But the Nuge has been an aggressive and articulate spokesman on behalf of 2A.

Ted is a crackpot. Read his boasts as to how he dodged the draft. Plus, he's got the personality of a bipolar porcupine.

I just don't get how he became a spokesperson for gun rights. He's borderline insane and that's the image conveyed to the antis re gun owners at large.

Don't get me wrong. I liked his music and envy his guitar skills, but I also loved Cassius Clay as a boxer. It doesn't mean I think either one of them have the brains to represent me. In anything.

Not a fan of his music but his stance on the Viet Nam situation is completely logical.. Before you flame me, I gave them 36 months in theatre, how about you? That war was the second most stupid one we fought, the first being the so called Civil War, the third was Iraq and now we have Af-hole-ganistan

Continuing with the rather inconsistent polling for this race Ras’s latest has THE LESBO leading TT by 48-41. The same sample has Osama leading glove by only 49-46. Nose dive for Tommy? Hovde time? Hovde trails 45-42 in this poll.

His last poll had TT up big.

Even Ron Gunzberger, who would be supportive of a Dem win, seemed incredulous on the most recent Senate poll. Either a goof or an outlier.

I cannot imagine Tommy Thompson losing to Tammy Baldwin. She’s a radical who’s outside the mainstream both politically and personally.

Perhaps I’m arrogant but I also have trouble seeing a carpet-muncher winning a Senate seat from a blue collar swing state.

I agree. I predict Glove will win the state in November as well.
