A young women’s Muslim group, along with volunteers from other faiths, plan to hand out hundreds of the traditional head coverings Saturday afternoon along Nicollet Mall.
They say the hijab is an often misunderstood part of Islam, and their effort is intended to unite people of different faiths and cultures.

I've been to the Middle East.I've seen how women live there.I've seen more "hijabs" than I care to count.I,an individual with an IQ greater than 50,understand exactly what they're about.
I wonder how accepting they’d be if some Christian folks were out there handing out crucifixes.
I’ll bet dollars to doughnuts that there will be a large proportion of elca members among those “volunteers from other faiths.”
I am surprised that Mooch doesn’t wear one to help folks see just how multicultural the Os really are......
It isn’t part of Islam anyway ~ just a cultural artifact to put women in their place and warn Christians away from the neighborhoods where lots of women wear them.

The PLO invented these particular kinds of Hijab so that their guys would know who to rape (anyone not wearing one).

Exactly -- no misunderstanding. It is a symbol of female submission to men under Islam. It dehumanizes the woman by forcing her to cover up. And it is a statement that Muslim men lack control over their sexual urges and cannot stop themsevels from raping a woman they find attractive if the woman does not cover up with a hijab. And the Hijab is simply a burqua-lite. The real goal is to dehumanize women by forcing them to walk around in a body sack. If these women want to wear a hijab, they need to move to Afghanistan or some other Islamic hellhole.

Do you think it would bother them if I took one and then used it to wash my dog? I think that would be a good use for it.
Where I live and work, I see more and more women in burkas and hijabs every day. I find it disturbing on many levels.
I’d like to take a look at one. I’ve always wondered where they store the explosives. Is there a vent for... you know, when there’s been too many non-halal burritos eaten? Also, is there a like a white label along the back of the collar so their husbands know exactly where to line up the sword?
