Federal agents seized a large collection of firearms — including a fully automatic M-16A1 assault rifle — and 23,000 rounds of ammunition from the Kauai home of a U.S. Postal Service worker, who is accused of using someone else's address and firearms license to make unauthorized firearm purchases from out of state.

Troy Haruki Hamura, 51, of Lihue also used his job as a letter carrier to intercept the packages, Assistant U.S. Attorney Tracy Hino said in federal court Thursday.

Fully automatic? I guess semi-automatic confuses some people. Or do they expect some firearms come with a remote control? It’s hard to figure out WTF some of the new, devolved journalism graduates understand.

M16A1’s unless they’ve been mechanically changed are full selective fire weapons, that’s to say obviously they can fire in semi or full automatic.

Lol...well I can’t read the whole story..don’t know its accuracy...just pointing out that if it is indeed a M16A1 and know changes have been made it is a full selective fire.

Nice collection, too bad you will never get to use any of the ammo.

I understand that the law states that you can not sell an automatic weapon but nothing says you can not own such a weapon.
That means you can buy the parts necessary to make the modification and it only cost a few bucks.

They’re trying to scare up more hysteria, pun intended.

They’ll stop at nothing to disarm this country completely.

Nothing you said is true at all.

You need a Class III license to buy/sell automatic firearms.

You can’t purchase an automatic trigger group without that same license.

Fully automatic weapons are legal to own in many states in the US. You have to do the proper paperwork and submit it to the BATF along with the fees, and wait for approval (weks to months or longer).

The going price for a legal full auto M-16 is in the tens of thousands of dollars these days.

- you will never get to use any of the ammo.

well now..... We just might still get the chance. We shall see. We shall see.

As the Count of Monte Christo said - Wait and Hope.
(Matter of fact, those were the last two words spoken from that book).

There’s a “Kingdom of Atooi” Hawaiian sovereignty movement active and based on the island of Kauai in Hawaii. Yesterday’s weapons seizure may be related to that. Here are a few past news items about the “Kingdom of Atooi”:
