NJ: Team Obama hitting the panic button over shrinking gender gap
Hotair ^ | 07/27/2012 | Ed Morrissey

Posted on 07/27/2012 11:53:49 AM PDT by SeekAndFind

Why, wonders Beth Reinhard of National Journal, is Team Obama airing a new television ad with claims already rated by Politifact as "pants on fire" false? The ad in question, "Troubled," claims Romney wants to make all abortions illegal, even in cases of rape an incest:

CLICK ABOVE LINK FOR THE VIDEO

The ad from the Obama campaign said Romney "backed a bill that outlaws all abortions, even in cases of rape and incest."

The Obama campaign provides virtually nothing to back that up, however. It has no evidence that Romney explicitly opposed the exception for rape and incest. While he supported the "human life amendment," there are many versions and the most recent ones allow abortion after rape or incest. And it's worth noting that in 2011, Romney declared that has said he supports those exceptions.

In its effort to appeal to women, the Obama campaign has twisted Romney's position to a ridiculous degree. We rate the claim Pants on Fire.

So why run yet another ad with the same ridiculous claims? Reinhard says the key is in swing-state polling --- which shows Barack Obama's big lead among women shrinking substantially:

A look at the dwindling gender gap in just one of the states where the ad is running gives it away. In Virginia --- ground zero for the so-called "war on women" because of anti-abortion initiatives in the state capitol --- Obama was running ahead of Romney in Quinnipiac University polls in March and June, largely because of monster leads among women. The gender gap was 13 points in March and 16 points in June.

Then came July’s survey, which found the candidates deadlocked at 44 percent each. The gender gap had shrunk to only 5 points.

In the latest week-long survey results (July 16-22) from Rasmussen’s daily presidential tracking poll, which sampled 3500 likely voters, the gender gap has fallen to five points (48/43) — but it’s only down to two points in today’s three-day rolling average (46/44). Meanwhile, Romney has a 13-point lead among men, 54/41, in today’s result, and a nine-point edge from the previous weeklong results, 50/41. When leaners are included in the three-day rolling average, Romney has a twelve-point lead among men, 55/43 — and a tie among women with Obama at 47/47. Among those women “certain” of their vote, Obama only has a one-point edge, 38/37. Among men certain of their vote, Romney leads by 14, 47/33.

Romney also leads the tracking poll overall by five points, 49/44 — and that was before today’s GDP report.

It seems that Team Obama has good reason to hit the panic button, and not just in Virginia. They need to scare women back onto the Democratic reservation, and setting their own pants on fire looks like their only option, now that “Julia” has been banished to the Island of Misfit Political Mascots.

At this point, the more “scaring” they try to do, the more ridiculous they look.

We all know truth and facts don't matter. Once something is heard it can't be unheard no matter how many apologies or corrections are issued. The left live by this. I'm sure it's an Alinsky rule.

I think it's more of a Goebbles rule.

Hope and change has changed to scare and hope it is enough to win the election.

I saw that ad on the TV in the Doctors office this morning. I was sitting there waiting on my appointment when it came on and I said ,too loudly I suppose: That is a stinking lie.

A woman who was there just shook her head and a black couple gave me the evil eye.

Evil eyes don’t faze me in the least.

“Once something is heard it can’t be unheard no matter how many apologies or corrections are issued.”

It probably won’t matter; Obama is going to have a hard time in NJ. Governor Christie is still popular after all the cuts we’ve dealt with to stabilize our taxes, and many of the gubmint worker parasites have left for jobs in other states (since we won’t be hiring for years). Things are really bad here (which was why Christie won to begin with, one year after Obama carried the state); “For sale” signs still everywhere, even more businesses closed (I live a few miles from the Xanadu mall by Giants Stadium, which was completed a few years ago - complete with indoor ski slope - and never opened), and A LOT of people and businesses suffering.

I can only guess from Obama’s actions in the last 6 months that he has already been told he can’t win, and now he’s just wreaking havoc in return for a comfortable retirement.

The independent middle of the road women act on consensus.

They can’t think for themselves and being style conscious insist on determining the style and then following it.

Obama is out of style. The consensus is developing to make it so.

I noticed that MSNBC went from ‘Bain layoffs’ back to the ‘War on Women’ yesterday. This explains why. That plus the Obama ‘the government did it, not you’ gaffes are making the Baine attacks not so good an approach right now.

Dont you women understand Romney will take away your personal health care ‘choices’?? Only Obama cares about you. Vote Obama for your lives. Republicans want to control you through your bodies.

I learned this on Dem TV. Very scary. Good thing I am a man and get little or no 'free stuff' from Obama-care.

He hasn’t figured out that most women base their votes on more than an abortion which most of them will never have.

RE :”Why are you watching Dem TV?

So I know what they are saying. Sort of obvious.

Plus hearing either channel R or D TV (or Rush) claim that their own side's argument's are winning is pretty much non-information.

The farther Obama falls, the more desperate he’ll become,

The more desperate he becomes the more petty and outrageous he’ll act

The petty and outrageous he acts, the farther he’ll fall

The Obama Campaign is going to be a death spiral in slow motion... Remember how they portrayed Richard Nixon and angry, paranoid and bitter???? Just wait till you see what Obama looks like come late September/October.

Hope and change and change to scare and hype...

Dems are pushing big time to break up marriage ( married women tend toward conservative), get folks on the dole (dependent broken people vote dem) and scare the crap out of everyone else...

I’m charmed.../s

The gender gap is a skewed statistic because 90% of the black vote will go Dem, and half of them are women.

I'll bet you're right - that's why they dropped it. Good call.

Heterosexual women are not all that crazy about the homo dominance and social engineering agenda that Obama has dove into for homo donations. The Left puts up a fake front about the support of their homo agenda within the public. State ordered sexual twistedness celebration is not necessiarily popular. Liberals only make up 17% of the population.

In addition, I think his race baiting and the ensuing violent race attacks are not feeling real safe to single women. Single women have no tolerance for violent crime and Obama has sent out the usual scarey liberal signals that the victims of crime are the criminals. Single women hear the race baiting and hate of Holder’s people.

They are trying to make a big deal about government provided birth control and in reality, American women are doing fine with obtaining birth control. Daddy gov. giving out birth control is not impressive to most women. Poor women get it through medicaid and middle class women can afford it because it’s not that expensive.

Every time they make society insecure, with liberalism’s demands for more social breakdown, they lose single women. Single women are vulnerable and generally want to be protected from all colors of race hate, crime and perverts in the streets.

I got more you will like. Tonight on Hardball Mathews with lib Ron Reagan as a guest did segment on how “You didnt build that” ads were taking Obama out of context and said that they were basically ‘lies’. If that wasn't funny enough Matthews said that all of Obama-ads against Romney were ‘true’.(Recall 'I like to fire people' LOL)

This tells me that the Romney allies hit gold. The Obama Koolaid drinkers like Matthews see that and are scared. In fact Obama had to respond to the ads and as I said months ago (relative to Romney) :”When you are on the defensive that means the other side is winning”. Some on this ping will remember me posting that exact same point when Romney was on the defensive.

If I heard Hannity or Rush say it was working it wouldn't mean anything to me anymore then when the Dems say that Obama is winning. Hannity will tell Republicans they are winning the day before they lose in a landslide.

Back to Obama the job killer, Time to twist the knife. LOL
