Democratic senators offer gun control amendment for cybersecurity bill

Democratic senators have offered an amendment to the cybersecurity bill that would limit the purchase of high capacity gun magazines for some consumers.

Shortly after the Cybersecurity Act gained Senate approval to proceed to filing proposed amendments and a vote next week, Sen. Chuck Schumer (D-N.Y.), a sponsor of the gun control amendment, came to the floor to defend the idea of implementing some “reasonable” gun control measures.

...

The amendment is identical to a separate bill sponsored by Lautenberg. Feinstein was the sponsor of the assault weapons ban, which expired in 2004.

“Maybe we could come together on guns if each side gave some,” Schumer said.

Sorry Charlie, we have no interest in coming together with you by giving up some of our freedom. You lose, we win, your bill is DOA.

assault rifles belong in the hands of state militia members. who would that be:I ask, sir, what is the militia? It is the whole people except for a few public officials. George Mason

What, Sir, is the use of a militia? It is to prevent the establishment of a standing army, the bane of liberty. Whenever governments mean to invade the rights and liberties of the people, they always attempt to destroy the militia, in order to raise an army upon their ruins. Elbridge Gerry

FANTASTIC!!!

Great...They need to press this issue through to November!!!

I’m glad they are doing this, this will all but make it difficult for some who put their name to this bill hard to re-elect...Most won’t till Obama wins re-election...

All the more reason to get him out of office later this year...Obviously...

But then again, most are in safe districts to begin with...

Guess we’ll see who blinks on this one...

So our fellow Americans run like sheep to buy whatever might be outlawed while allowing anti-Second-Amendment bills to pass. Most people really don’t like their neighbors any more and tend to focus against them. Works both ways.

That’s how your Second Amendment right will be violated in the future along with your Fourth Amendment right (already given up with inconsiderate “tough on crime” laws). And those who would run like sheep, neglecting other family necessities (especially necessities needing to be saved for an economic depression), despite all of their fantasizing bluster, would certainly allow house-to-house confiscations of their firearms.

Call or write your congressmen. Stop the obsessions about class war. Most of you aren’t really rich anyway, being only recipients of much debt for the time being. Then go out and buy the latest toys “as seen on TV.” Firearms are good and useful tools, but there’s much more to self-defense and refusal against tyranny—far more than taught by nearly all self-described experts.

What does he mean, each side gave some? Like get rid of ZeroCare and Abortion bills and other ACLU and NOW GAy legislations?

I did not think so.

Fracking hypocrites. THis is not bipartisanship.

Surely, the NRA supported Reid won't allow it to make it to the floor!

Wasn't that the excuse the NRA gave for endorsing him?

More pointless nonsense and strident posing from the usual democrat grandstanders.

The irritating weenie Schumer is an utter embarrassment.

Schumer should go around collecting all of the guns and see how that works out.

I believe both Schumer and "The Corpse" Lautenberg deserve DEATH BY FIRING SQUAD for multiple acts of treason against the Constitution of the United States. And I would PAY to watch the sentence be carried out. After the trial, of course.

The fact that either is still in the Senate is an indication that we are no longer a Constitutional republic.

Call or write your congressmen.

You are an utter fool if you think that will do any good at all. Schmucky and Lautenberg will not be moved, except into their caskets.
