Daniel Halper has called attention to Nancy Pelosi's remarkable interview with Al Hunt on the topic of Barack Obama and Israel. I'd note one comment in particular: Pelosi's claim that President Obama "has been there [Israel] over and over again."

Wow. I'm involved with the Emergency Committee for Israel. We have an ad up in several states calling attention to the fact that President Obama, who's been quite the world traveler, has never visited Israel as president. Did we make a terrible mistake? Were we unjust to President Obama? Do we have to pull down the ad?

No, no, and no. Contrary to Pelosi's apparent claim, President Obama hasn't been to Israel over and over again. He's never been as president, which is certainly what Pelosi implied. Well, maybe he visited Israel "over and over" before becoming president, and that's what Pelosi meant to say? No. When he was senator, Obama went on two trips to Israel, once with several other freshmen members of Congress, and then as a presidential candidate. And he'd never been interested enough in Israel to visit as a private citizen. So much for the notion that Obama's been "over and over again."

So Pelosi is wrong, and the Emergency Committee is right. But Pelosi's resort to a whopper to try to reassure pro-Israel voters does suggest how worried Democrats must be about the reaction to Obama's attempt to create distance between his administration and Israel, as Obama's Israel policy gets more scrutiny.

Pelosi is a prime example of leftists living in an alternate universe where everything they say is true, even if it contradicts what they said yesterday. In "Nineteen Eighty-four," Winston Smith's job in the Ministry of Truth was to "edit" previous newspaper articles to make them consistent with today's lies from the government.

Leftists seem to believe that that function is already in place.

The centerpiece of Obama's strategy for enhancing the security of Israel is to surround it with states under the rule of the Muslim Brotherhood.

He may get interested in overthrowing Assad if it looks like the Muslim Brotherhood would come to power afterwards in Syria.

The DNC just needs to do a better job of explaining to Jewish voters how this is better for Israel.

This statement by Nancy Pelosi shows just how much you can count on anything that woman says. She just talks. What she says means nothing. She is a blabber mouth.

Cut here some slack, Pelosi may have a point here.

Just because Obama’s US passport book records document no trips to Israel does not mean there are none.

We have not seen his Indonesian passport records or what ever passport he used to travel to Pakistan and any of the other countries he has claimed extensive travel to.

Well, for that matter, we have not seen his US passport records since they are kept as tightly hidden as his BC, Selective Service registration, Indonesian background history, school records from kinder garden to graduation from Harvard Law, his record in the Illinois Legislature and his past association with all kinds of fun and interesting characters here and abroad.

So lets be serious about this. In reality, no one can say with any informed certainty that he even is who he is, much less where and when he has been traveling. Therefore there is simply no basis to criticize Pelosi

Besides, he could have made side trips to Israel on any one of his trips in his self described extensive travel around the Muslim world.

Last time I checked, Israel was surrounded by quite a few Muslim countries so he would not have had to go very far out of his way.

And who is to say just what Obama considers to be Israel or a visit to Israel anyway.

He certainly does not seem to consider the West Bank, Gaza, the Golan, Jerusalem or even the land inside the currently defined borders of Israel to legitimately be Israel.

I seem to remember that he has had a taken several vacations cruising in the Mediterranean Ocean, so there you have it, from Obama’s perspective, I guess he and Pelosi can say he actually HAS been to Israel on a number of occasions

So lets just lighten up on Pelosi and give her the benefit of the doubt on this one.
