Choreographer angry that NBC cut segment (Christian hymn was cut out)
Wall streat journal ^

The choreographer of a somber segment in the London Olympics opening ceremony said Saturday he's disappointed that NBC decided not to show it to an American audience.

Spectators were asked to display photos of loved ones who could not be there during the segment. The music, a hymn called "Abide With Me," was described in the ceremony's program as an "honest expression of the fear of approaching death."

NBC producers did not air it, instead showing American viewers Ryan Seacrest's interview with swimmer Michael Phelps.

"I am disappointed," said Londoner Akram Khan, who choreographed and danced in the segment. "I am really sad that I couldn't show the work in America, and that really upsets me, because I don't think it's any more or less than the other pieces. It brings to mind the question ... that maybe it's too truthful."

The ceremony's program describes the performance as dramatizing "the struggle between life and death using such powerful images of mortality as dust and the setting sun."

Some in the British press have interpreted the segment as being a tribute to victims of bomb attacks in July 2005 that killed 52 commuters and four suicide bombers on London's transit network

It was very beautiful segment with the hymn. Sad that it was edited out.

You really think they would give a Christian hymn air time? LOL

NBC can fight God if they want. If God shakes the earth just one time, they will all fall to their knees.

Phelps' interview was a waste, though it made it clear his heart is not in it, thus his loss today was no surprise.

Big mistake on NBC's part.

Yeah, not surprising. Anything that supports Christianity or American patriotism (nationalism) would be shunned by NBC and their Muslim controllers.

They probably had the producer from Miami who spliced the Zimmerman police phone call tape working on the Olympics—keeping up the standards they set with the Richard Jewell story. NBC is a hollowed out peacock.

So the IOC had no problem honoring family members of the specators but wouldn’t allow any mention of the athletes killed in the 1972 Olympics?

I don’t blame the choreographer for one minute. I am right there with him. Of all the countries that can relate to the sorrow of a nation after a terrorist attack, we can. Yet, NBC sees fit to act as dictator, and edits the solemn programming out. Despicable.

The IOC chief said they could not have a single minute of silence for the 40th anniversary of the Munich 1972 massacre of Israeli athletes because it was “too sombre” and the Olympics were to be about “uplifting and hopeful themes”. But THIS long display focused on death and the 7/7 terror attack wasn’t “sombre”?

I watched the opening ceremonies live on BBC One and was surprised that the hymn Abide With Me was included, but am not surprised to learn the NBC edited it out.

Pretty pathetic, but not at all surprising.

It was broadcast in the Guangzhou Airport in COMMUNIST China. I heard it nad wondered why a decidedly Christian hymn expressing absolute trust in God’s promises would be broadcast in that place. Now, I know.

The poem "Abide With Me" was written by Henry F. Lyte, a Scottish Anglican cleric, in 1847, when he was in the final stages of tuberculosis--a cure was a century away. In 1861, it was set to music by William F. Monk, an organist and a great Anglican musician who wrote dozens of tunes to which many great hymns have been set, including "And Now, O Father, Mindful of the Love" (1875). The hymn "Be Still, My Soul" is sometimes set to this tune.

It's a shame that NBC didn't show this--they probably used the time for a commercial break.

Thanks for the link.
What a shame NBC edited this out it is very beautiful.
So very obvious why they did that.
We are all in big trouble. Prayers to God to save our United States of America.

NBC is the most shameless of the atheist Democrat networks.
This is absolutely no surprise.
