Colorado massacre: Gun-control talk fizzles -- and fast(uber barf alert)

Why are so many willing to back down when logic is on their side?

Talk about power: The gun lobby barely had to say a word before the media sent advocates of saner gun regulation shuffling off in defeat.

In a political version of Stockholm syndrome, even those who claim to disagree with the National Rifle Association's absolutist permissiveness on firearms lulled themselves into accepting the status quo by reciting a script of gutless resignation dictated by the merchants of death.

It's a script built on half-truths and myths. For example, polls showing declining support for gun control in the abstract were widely cited, while polls showing broad backing for carefully tailored laws were largely ignored.

Anyone who thinks “gun control” would have prevented this really should consider cutting down on the “recreational drugs”. If the commie ‘RATS do try to come up with new gun laws, Americans need to take a page out of the Illegal Alien Border Crosser’s handbook and tell the U.S. Government where they can shove their laws.

Years ago, Salt Lake City’s liberal mayor had the bright idea of issuing posters that said “This Is a Gun-Free Home” for anyone who wanted to put the poster in their house.

The idea was short-lived.

This isn’t a narrow interest strangle hold issue, the general public have come to an awareness on gun rights, even the organization called the NRA isn’t some group of 10, or 30, or 50,00 activists, it has a vast, all encompassing, active, membership of 4.3 million dues paying Americans.

As an article posted here this week makes clear, this isn’t a “special interest” issue, protected by a “lobby”, this is an issue protected by the masses, the general public, even democrat voters support the second amendment in large numbers.

I can’t remember the respective cities names, but, there is an Indiana city where you must own a hand gun and a North Carolina city where you can not own a hand gun.

“Logic”

The Indiana city has virtually no violent crime.

The North Carolina city is beset with violent crime.

Logic indeed.

I am personally waiting for Harry Reid, Senator majority leader and Nancy Pelosi, House of Representatives Minority Leader ( ex Majority Leader) to take up the strong gun control charge. Now is the time for these two respected democratic leaders to lead the country in gun control legislation. Right now I would settle for a statement. Their silence says it all.

All we need is a law to forbid anyone whose underpants are showing from having a gun. That would solve 90% of the problem.

"delusional"

Lib gun-haters have always been under the delusion about a particular weapon being responsible for mass killings. In this case, "assault" rifles. It used to be handguns, but they've moved to those "assault" rifles. Holmes murdered a number of people with a shotgun. Does Dionne advocate banning hunting rifles and shotguns? Does he seriously believe that if handguns and "assault" rifles were banned, mass murderers wouldn't use other methods. A few weeks ago a mass murderer close to my home killed his three young daughters by cutting their throats. Does Dionne advocate banning knives?

Like I say, RUN EJ, RUN, if you have such great ideas. Go for US Senate - take on that bad Gun Lobby - show them you can’t be pushed around.

But like Bloomberg, he wont. The fact is that there are plenty of gun-grabbers in federal power, right up to the president. And they had a HUGE MAJORITY in Congress for two years, 2009, 2010, and even a convenient mass murder (Virginia Tech) to leverage off of.

But they didn’t - in fact, during those two years, the only significant gun legislation was to allow concealed-carry in national parks (provided it meant the underlying state law)...something that the NRA had been pushing for, for years.

I guess ol’ E,J, here didn’t get the memo that Obama was waving off his minions about pushing for more gun control because he doesn’t want to end up like Al Gore during the 2000 election.

They rant about the gun supporting crowd like it’s only the NRA. This is an attempt to marginalize it into some small extremist group.

Unfortunately for them it’s well over 50% of the entire country that’s in support the 2nd amendment now.

Dionne no doubt lives in a guarded enclave, where Leftist writers can live in safety.

The real people have to protect themselves and their families with guns in this evil age which the Left has created.

As I understand it the weapon of choice for mass murderers before “Modern” firearms was FIRE. Can you imagine the Libs if they got their way and these creeps started burning down Homes, Businesses and God Forbid “Movie Theaters”? All because they couldn’t get a hold of firearms.

I suppose they would try to ban those “Assault” Bic Lighters and cans of Sterno then.
