AURORA, Colo. -- Dr. Lynne Fenton, the University of Colorado psychiatrist who was treating James E. Holmes, according to a court filing by his attorneys, was disciplined by the Colorado Medical Board in 2005.

Fenton was also reprimanded for failing to maintain a medical chart or to enter appropriate entries for the charts relating to herself, her husband or the employee, 7News reported.

....What sort of research is the University of Colorado up to?

...."Fenton is also listed as a member of the faculty at the medical school’s Schizophrenia Research Center and has received grants to study the effects of various drugs on schizophrenics.

On May 30, Fenton helped make a presentation at the psychiatry department called “World of Warcraft: The Use of Archetypes in Psychotherapy.” World of Warcraft, a popular multi-player role-playing video game, was among those Holmes played, according to a former roommate at UC Riverside.”....

Yep one of their lab rats whigged out. Better put that in the report doc. Such and such combo is a bad mix.

Where does the confidentiality clause end? If she knew his intentions and did nothing she is just as responsible.

If he made specific threats ie. "I am going to shoot John Doe this weekend" vs. "I hate the world and want to destroy it."

If the threats are specific to a person or place then the Doctor must report it.

Take a pill, it'll fix everything.

Charles Whitman, who killed 14 people from the Texas Tower in 1966, was on valium and amphetamines prescribed by a psychiatrist at the time. (He hadn't shown up for appointments in several months.)

Would the authorities have already done bloodwork on the shooter? Sure would be interesting to know what he had been taking.

Remember, she was reprimanded for not keeping paperwork, etc. up to date. What are the odds she would be the person who was to ‘supposedly’ help him. The gov’t sure knows how to pick them.

I agree. Let’s not hang this woman. I doubt the nutjob let on exactly what he was doing.

Asking questions and reviewing someone’s history isn’t “hanging them” or “making them pay again for crimes.”

Hopefully, James Holmes parents are asking the college A LOT OF QUESTIONS.

Its fine to ask questions, but the person ultimately responsible for what Holmes did is Holmes.

It appears she was writing prescriptions for herself and family members. In NC this might involve loss of license depending on the medication. This is not sloppy record keeping.

I’m sure it was. The doctor sounds like she may have been careless (or at least in the past) but there’s also not a lot they can do.

I remember a paranoid schizophrenic in CA, at the height of “deinstitucionalization” (unfortunately promoted by then Governor Reagan) who pleaded not to be released. He was good in the hospital, but he said he felt “like a puppy on the freeway” when he was out in the world.

They released him, and shortly thereafter he killed a teenage girl and then killed his grandmother, barbecued her and ate her.

I think some of these people can’t stand the stimuli and stress of regular life, and they need to be kept out of it.

“Im betting this is one reason the case is sealed. Dont want the gubmint being responsible for gun running and mass murder in the same year”

Holmes lawyer will get a hold of those sealed documents, it will come out in the Trial.

Thanks for the clarification. As a former Colorado resident, I should have caught the Denver/Boulder difference. MY BAD!

As director, a position she’s held since 2009, Fenton sees between 15 and 20 graduate students per week for medication and psychotherapy, coordinates a team of four mental health clinicians, supervises some residents who treat students, and lectures. She also serves as a psychiatrist for between five and 10 patients, the resume states.

CW: Do you get the feeling that her efforts may have been spread out? Are those the same 15-20 students, or are there eighty or so on a monthly rotation? There are lots of numbers here, which may lead to a lack of focus; maybe not.
