Pawlenty calls officials' thumbs down on Chick-Fil-A 'chilling, jaw-dropping'
msnbc ^ | July 28, 2012 | Carrie Dann

Posted on 07/29/2012 5:51:03 AM PDT by ilovesarah2012

CARY, NC -- Fresh from lunch at Chick-Fil-A, former Minnesota Gov. Tim Pawlenty said that officials' public objections to the Christian-owned fast food chain are "chilling."

"Now you have the police power of government intimidating and threatening people, being used to intimidate and threaten people, based on their free speech rights and their religious views," Pawlenty said Saturday of city officials' objections to president Dan Cathy's public disavowal of gay marriage. "I mean it’s chilling. I mean it’s stunning, it is jaw-dropping. And so I think strong people who see this need to stand up and say no we don’t do that in the United States."

Several elected officials, including the mayor of Boston, have said that they will discourage the opening of new Chick-Fil-A franchises. Pawlenty noted said that he had sampled Chick-Fil-A's products for lunch earlier Saturday. "It was awesome," he said of the chicken strips and waffle fries he ordered.

It is not only chilling, it is illegal under the Constitution. More importantly though, Jesus reigns and these evil jackals will be unsuccessful in bringing down those who have built on a solid foundation.

Pawlenty knocks it out of the park! Liberals don’t understand the 1st amendment.

Here the battle begins, can we now finally throw the Democrats out of office?

“jaw-dropping”

And that is EXACTLY our problem. To be surprised by the reaction of these mayors shows just how TOTALLY INEPT our highest-level politicians are, on our side.

If the mayors had said something like: “If Cathy every enters my city, he’ll be jailed on hate crime charges”, then yes, that would be jaw-dropping.

But blocking legitimate businesses has been a tactic of the left FOR DECADES and it’s time some grabbed “our leaders” by the sleeve and TOLD THEM THAT!!!!

How about conservative media calling the entire Obama agenda what it is: The War on Christians.

Let’s see how that resonates across the airwaves and on the internet.

I don't want to hear anyone ever again criticize Sarah Palin’s stream of consciousness speaking style, since it seems veep hopefuls are now adopting it, albeit very clumsily.

She does something, the rest come a-running to do it too, just amazing. Whether it's an audience with Donald Trump or dropping into embattled Chick-fil-A in a show of support, the immediate me-tooism has become all too obvious.

Why, again, are these cardboard cutout candidates deemed more electable?

Last week my son had a seminar at school. There were about a hundred students. Lunch was included in the day's schedule. Since the union school workers are on summer break and would not serve lunch, a group of parents placed a hugh delivery order with Chick-Fil-a. The teachers and administrators were visibly upset, but could not do a damn thing about it. The kids went nuts over the lunches and asked to have them served on a regular basis.

The caveat is that they came out to be cheaper than the regular school lunches on a per person basis...............

How utterly disgusting and base for elected political hacks to be pedestalizing a very small segment of people who turn their backs on God and shove their pee-pees up another man’s poo-poo!

Do these idiotic politicians, and their drooling sycophants, actually believe that homosexual behavior is a good thing for this nation? Do they truly believe that it’s a glorious and ‘natural’ thing to sponsor people of the same sex to wed? What kind of society are these weasels micromanaging? They use the military as a kind of laboratory to test these satan-inspired ideas. They’re rather like a Doctor Mengele.

Next, brothers and sisters can wed thanks to the state and central socialist governments, but they’re not fooling me! Homosexuals are inherently pedophiles they prey on young children.

Is this the next stepping stone for the Great Society?

This is an evil, disgusting society where people like the ‘late’ Michael Jackson and others who call what vomits from their mouths and their on-stage behavior music. It is far from music, but it is intended to scandalize and lower the morals of the youngsters of America.

All this descent into hell, where the leftist politicos hold our youth by the hand, telling them what was bad is good and what was good is bad: masturbate, sodomize, kill 55 million innocent babies.

Tie a millstone around their necks.

And another thing. Those that continually indulge in homosexuality over time have warped their little gray cells. Many ignore the statistics that many of the serial, or mass murderers were, in fact, practicing homosexuals.

So continue to grovel before and support the homosexual agenda and your asses will surely be voted out and you may return to your home districts and chase little boys....and girls.

America will NEVER recover morally or economically until these evil politicians and all homosexual agenda sycophants are recognized and quarantined.

Pass the Chic-Fil-As.

I have no problem with people adding their voices to our side. It got downright discouraging when this whole CFA thing start where it seemed voice after voice of well known person piped up condeming them. I’ll take all the voices saying “Hey lay off them” that I can. Perhaps it will encourage more people to speak up.

Chick-Fil-a couldn’t pay for the amount of advertizing they are enjoying. The president of the company should send out a few thank you cards to the heads of the networks. Something however tells me that better manners than mine will keep that from happening.

From First Ward To Freedom Trail, No Chick-fil-A For You

By MARK STEYN
Posted 07/27/2012 06:36 PM ET

To modify Lord Acton, power corrupts, absolute power corrupts absolutely, but aldermanic power corrupts all der more manically.

Proco “Joe” Moreno is alderman of the First Ward of Chicago, and last week, in a city with an Aurora-sized body count every weekend, his priority was to take the municipal tire iron to the owners of a chain of fast-food restaurants.

“Because of this man’s ignorance,” said Alderman Moreno, “I will now be denying Chick-fil-A’s permit to open a restaurant in the First Ward.”

“This man’s ignorance”? You mean, of the City of Chicago permit process? Zoning regulations? Health and safety ordinances? No, Alderman Moreno means “this man’s ignorance” of the approved position on same-sex marriage.

“This man” is Dan Cathy, president of Chick-fil-A, and a few days earlier he had remarked that “we are very much supportive of the family — the biblical definition of the family unit. We are a family-owned business, a family-led business, and we are married to our first wives” — which last part suggests he is as antipathetic to no-fault divorce and other heterosexual assaults on matrimony as he is to more recent novelties such as gay marriage.

But no matter. Alderman Moreno does not allege that Chick-fil-A discriminates in its hiring practices or in its customer service. Nor does he argue that business owners should not be entitled to hold opinions: The Muppets, for example, have reacted to Mr. Cathy’s observations by announcing that they’re severing all ties with Chick-fil-A.

Did you know that the Muppet Corporation has a position on gay marriage? Well, they do. But Miss Piggy and the Swedish Chef would be permitted to open a business in the First Ward of Chicago because their opinion on gay marriage happens to coincide with Alderman Moreno’s. It’s his ward, you just live in it. When it comes to lunch options, he’s the chicken supremo and don’t you forget it.

The city’s mayor, Rahm Emanuel, agrees with the alderman: Chick-fil-A does not represent “Chicago values” — which is true if by “Chicago values” you mean machine politics, AIDS-conspiracy-peddling pastors and industrial-scale black youth homicide rates.

But, before he was mayor, Rahm Emanuel was President Obama’s chief of staff. Until the president’s recent “evolution,” the Obama administration held the same position on gay marriage as Chick-fil-A. Would Alderman Moreno have denied Barack Obama the right to open a chicken restaurant in the First Ward? Did Rahm Emanuel quit the Obama administration on principle? Don’t be ridiculous. Mayor Emanuel is a former ballet dancer, and when it’s politically necessary he can twirl on a dime.

Palin's speaking style only works because she is smart, committed, and confident. Most politicians don't have the brains, nor commitment, nor confidence to pull it off.

Exactly. Some on this thread seem to be saying Pawlenty's support somehow isn't good enough.

I'll tell you, I get tired of the endless demands for purity expressed by some (not all) conservatives. [Makes me think at least some of the purists aren't even conservatives at all, but moles working for the other side trying to undermine our morale.]

“jaw-dropping”

And that is EXACTLY our problem. To be surprised by the reaction of these mayors shows just how TOTALLY INEPT our highest-level politicians are, on our side.

I see what you're saying but i think that we should in fact say these things are jaw-dropping, even when we aren't really all that surprised by them. And i imagine that is the case with Pawlenty.

Otherwise it gets no attention. If you just say "well, what do you expect from lefties?" people who don't follow politics will just shrug and think it must be no big deal then. But if you say it's "shocking! jaw-dropping! I can't believe they would do something like this!" that is more likely to get people interested and start thinking that there really is something rotten going on.

In a similar vein i get frustrated when i see a politician speaking out about what the left is doing and people here say "Captain Obvious!" Yes, it may be obvious to us political junkies, but we have to keep getting the message out to those who aren't paying much attention beyond soundbites: which is most of society it seems.

Doing things in a low-key matter-of-fact manner just doesn't work in today's culture. Nor does assuming that we don't need to keep pointing out what should be blatantly obvious to everyone.

I grew up within a block of Mayor Daley, and knew his attitude toward “Queers”, as he referred to them often, in open meetings at his 11th Ward office.. That was when closeted Gays, could have held their diversity meetings in a phone booth..

I remembered one of the reasons the subject came up was that someone suspected that his son (Richard, who later became Mayor) was caught driving drunk in the Queer area of town, and he stressed that he was reassuring the constituents that he wasn’t a “Queer” it was only a coincidence, since he was caught drunk in the “Little Italy” neighborhood earlier that month, and nobody accused him of being Italian.. LOL

When Mayor Menino and Alderman Moreno openly threaten to deny business licenses because of ideological apostasy, they're declaring their unfitness for public office.

It's not about marriage, it's not about gays, it's about a basic understanding that a free society requires a decent respect for a wide range of opinion without penalty by the state.
