When President Barack Obama blocked the Keystone Pipeline, Republicans said the move would encourage Canada to pursue oil deals with China instead of the United States and cede a massive chunk of North American oil assets to the communist nation.
Now, with China's state-run oil company CNOOC poised to cut a $15.1 billion deal--the largest ever foreign acquisition for a Chinese company--with Canadian oil company Nexen, Sen. Charles Schumer (D-NY) and Rep. Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) are in full backpedal mode.

In the aftermath of 2010....a fair number of Democratic Representatives didn’t come back to Washington....and there were fair losses in states across the union. Every single one of the survivors of 2010....should have come back and asked stupid questions of the national leadership from the Democratic Party. The party should have been yanking on the chain of the President and making 2012 a big-win period. Jobs and business growth should have been topic number one in 2011, and nothing much happened.
At this point in the game...it’s almost too late to make anything happen with the Chinese oil deal. My guess is that the Democratic Party members down at the state level are furious and demanding a massive flip after the November elections. The TV media guys are going to have trouble explaining why such a changeover had to occur.
China might even buy the Canadian oil and the turn around and sell some of it and directly ship it from Vancouver to Western US ports. That way, China would make a profit and the US would pay more that if there were a direct pipeline from CA to US. I’ll bet the Dems have their eye on this and are asking the Chinese companies (acting through Dem operative subsidiaries) for donations for these deals to go through smoothly.

Canada was a willing supplier of crude oil via an expanded Keystone Pipeline. Now China is making moves to buy the company producing the oil.
The Middle East countries are in shambles as the militant Muslim Brotherhood takes control. The Muslims have not stopped the flow of oil to Europe and USA yet, but given the friendly overtures by China towards them, we should expect it to happen any day.
Obama is doing nothing to stem the flow of Hezbollah into Venezuela. Another oil spigot that is in danger of being shut off.
Chucky Schmucky knows his dim hopes for maintaining Senate majority status or his potential promotion to become Senate Leader would be dashed even further if this debacle occurs. Romney would have such a huge hammer to strike blows against the Bam every which way to Tuesday——election day that is.
Canada was very open about this. I suppose Chuck the Schmuck, and Nancy D’alesandro thought they were bluffing.
There is no excuse for this , but not in my wildest dreams do I expect the citizens who voted for these two ignorant POS to not vote for them at their next opportunity.
As long as those earmarks keep buying their votes they are happy.
