"This is 100 per cent false," Mr Pfeiffer said. "The bust is still in the White House. In the Residence. Outside the Treaty Room".

Well hell, nobody asked him what "this" and "the" meant.

So it's our fault.

Pfeiffer should be a federal judge.

Politico.com isn’t JUST a propaganda mouthpiece for this administration, but for Communist/Socialist agenda in general... The sad thing is that many in the upper echelons of the GOP have used these “journ-o-listers” to bash each OTHER through the last two primary cycles as well. I take EVERYTHING I read at Politico.com with more than a grain of salt, if I read it at all.

In an update to his statement, a defiant Mr Pfeiffer stressed that the notion Mr Obama had returned a bust "because of antipathy towards the British" was "an urban legend".

It wasn't "antipathy towards the British," it was antipathy towards anything Bush.

Does not make sense. The original bust was returned after restoration, presumably before Bush’s term ended. The loaner went back when Bush left office. Presumably Bush left the original in the Oval Office.

Zero then moved it out, to the Residence.

Now, I don’t know which version of all this is most accurate. But there’s so much distortion, including some from our side, out there, that I don’t know whom to believe.

If the upthread comments are correct, then there can’t be anything to the claim that the British Government offered it to Zero for four more years.

Unless: the restoration was not completed before Bush left, Zero sent the loaner back with all the other loaned art from Bush’s terms, which is normal. So for a time, Zero had no Churchhill bust at all, then the restored original arrived and he put it in the Residence???

All I can say is that there are so many conflicting versions of what happened that I think we need to wait for some kind of clarity.

Unless the upthread comment is also distorted?

From the article you posted the link to:

http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/worldnews/barackobama/4623148/Barack-Obama-sends-bust-of-Winston-Churchill-on-its-way-back-to-Britain.html

“But when British officials offered to let Mr Obama to hang onto the bust for a further four years, the White House said: “Thanks, but no thanks.””

The British offered to extend the loaner for another four year term in the Oval Office and the Obamator refused. The statement remains unproven that Obama didn’t return the bust out of spite or antipathy.

“Mr. Krauthammer, who knows of what he speaks, refers only to the bust returned from the Oval House, a well documented event. Mr. Pfieffer tries to conflate the two busts. He argues on the evidence of the permanent bust that stories of loaned bust’s return are 100% false. The loaned bust, as confirmed by both the WH curator and the British embassy, was in fact returned to the British and is no longer within the precincts of the White House as Mr. Pfieffer’s original post argues. Next Mr. Pfieffer moves on to the return itself. Nothing to it, he says, common practice, any suggestion to the contrary is 100% false. Whatever the common practice for the disposition of loaned art for the incoming administration, the British government stepped outside the practice offering to extend the Bush-loan of the Epstein bronze. That same government confirmed that the offer was declined by Mr. Obama, which is to say it was not returned as a blind common practice, but in accordance with Mr. Obama’s direction.

What is conspicuously missing from Mr. Pfieffer’s update is his admission that Mr. Krauthammer was correct about the bronze on loan and he, Mr. Pfieffer, was wrong on the facts. All wrong, 100% wrong.”

This is a non-story that has reached cartoonish proportions. A few facts and details by an inquisitive press corp would have cleared this up years ago.

The "non" and cartoon is sitting in the White House. Obama and his sycophants can lie from anywhere on any subject.

They lie about big things and lie about the little things just as well. They lie about everything.

Inquisitive press corps?

It was reported by SpewsWeak 4 weeks after the inauguration. Here it is:

Has America's even- tempered new president already ruffled feathers in the land that spawned Borat and Benny Hill? That's certainly how the spiky British press responded after the White House sent back to the British Embassy a bust of Sir Winston Churchill that had occupied a cherished spot in President Bush's Oval Office. Intended as a symbol of transatlantic solidarity, the bust was a loaner from former British prime minister Tony Blair following the September 11 attacks. A bust of Abraham Lincoln—Obama's historical hero—now sits in its place. A White House spokesperson says the Churchill bust was removed before Obama's inauguration as part of the usual changeover operations, adding that every president puts his own stamp on the Oval Office.

As we see here, the Commies from Newsweek who reported it, and which was on Obama's orders to have the bust of Winston Churchill removed before he took up residence.

No!
It's a very real lesson.
If, as I expect, your rendition is accurate, it is clear proof that the current resident's first impulse is to LIE.
It is particularly egregious when there is no reason for the lie. The repair, return of a loan, and continued presence of WC's presence on the premises would have stopped the discussion.

We are being ruled by a little kid with huge ears, thin skin, and a knee-jerk need to yell "did not" whenever someone catches him doing just about anything.

For that matter, given his recent comments on successful non civil servants, he's big on "did not" in a lot of situations.

It was oft-repeated about the Clintons.. they lie when the truth would serve them better.

The Clintons, et al are aged 1960s Marxist-Alinsky ideologues, campus radicals, and just plain spoiled brats none of whom were held accountable for anything in their entire youth.

Swatting away annoying questions with lies is no different to them then swatting away a fly.

With their infiltration of government, the media, education, entertainment they are arguably now the Establishment.

It is our turn to "bring it all down, man."

The Churchill bust in the residence has NOTHING to do with the fact that Obama refused the offer by the Brits to keep the loaner bust. One has nothing to do with the other. The one given as a GIFT (not loan) during the Johnson administration was never at issue. The Bush administration bust was not loaned because of repairs to the other bust. it was not a replacement for the other bust, temporary or otherwise. This is just SMOKE from the Obozo administration trying to cover up Obozo’s hatred for the Brits, since they were caught.

Cut the condescension and read no. 17 and 67 above.

The various news stories are contradictory and confused.

Even the 2009 story says that what was returned was a loaner and that the return came in the waning Bush term.

One of the other stories quoted on this thread says that Obama refused an offer to extend the loan.

What NONE of these stories clarify is

1. when was the original 1965 Lyndon Johnson gift returned? If it was returned during Bush’s term, then there’s no problem with giving back the loaner. If it had not been returned when Obama took office, then his rejection of an extension of the loan is a crime. But we don’t know that, based on these stories.

2. At some point the original was indeed returned because it’s now in the Residence and the loaner, apparently, is in the British Ambassador’s residence.

This points to the return of the original 1965 bust as taking place some time after 2009. If that’s what happened, then I’d be the first to fault Obama for silently using it as a trap to settle scores with his critics from 2009

But reading all the stupid stories, as you condescendingly recommend, does not clarify this.

Until it is clarified, we don’t know exactly what Obama’s crime is. That he’s a criminal and hates the British, I don’t doubt. Exactly what happened with Church’s bust, we don’t know.

But that means you are choosing among the bits pieces of the stories because what I wrote is in the stupid stories.

Where was the Johnson bust in July 2001?

Why was Bush given a “loaner”?

Did the US have two identical busts from 2001-2009? Where was each kept.

There may be perfectly good answers to these questions and Zero may be the total goat in all this.

But the stories floating around, none of them from 2009 onward make any of this clear. There was spin going on already in the 2009 stories and some it seems to have been coming from our side, is the conclusion I draw, at this stage.

So, forgive me if I'm off base here, maybe I need some sleep, but two things from the article:

The one displayed by Mr Bush was indeed returned, along with all other art lent to him, as his presidency came to an end. The other, which remains in the White House residence, was given as a gift to President Lyndon B Johnson in 1965 by a group of Atlanticist diplomats and military officers.

This to me reads that Bush returned it, and Obama kept one and at least displayed it in 2010???

"I'm looking forward to the bust of Winston Churchill being in the Oval Office again," the Republican challenger confirmed at a fund-raiser at London's Mandarin Oriental hotel.

I thought taking foreign money was a taboo? I know we carped about Obama doing that...

It’s legitimate to raise money from American expatriates on foreign soil. George Clooney is doing it for Obama.

What Obama did, which angered us, was to accept donations that we suspect came from abroad, under patently fictious names, doing so by disabling the gatekeeping mechanisms in the online donation system etc. In other words, in 2008 he got a lot of money from real foreigners but laundered through a layer or two. Whether he’s still doing that now, I don’t know. But raising money among expats is not wrong.

You are correct, too much of the public doesn’t pay attention, and too many of the ones who do, don’t care as long as they get their “gibmees”. There’s the group who don’t pay attention to the details of policy as long as TheWon sounds “inspirational”. They want to believe in the left’s “feel-good” policies so they can preen their cheap and shallow “moral superiority”.

My point is...

Obama works really hard at creating an image of himself as a mainstream American who happens to be black. He publicly declares Israel to be our bestest buddies while Hillary is handing out Massad intel to nuclear jihadists. This administration works very hard at hiding who they are, and the press goes along.

Sending a Churchill bust back to the Brits as an obvious insult is not a PR mistake I would expect from them. Obama has anti-colonialist blood (assuming certain parentage), and may well hate Churchill...I just think he would hide it the same way he tries to hide his disdain for Israel.

We are information sponges, I would bet that 90% of us remember when this happened originally. Though in the scheme of things, the event itself was no gigantic deal, most of us remember this. In this we are the 1%, we remember this event,

True dat...

.....and longer memories go back to Sir Winston Churchill's directives to his WWII war cabinet....

1. Destroy the means of production and distribution of petroleum products.

2. Destroy the means of production and distribution of electricity...starting with coal mining.

3.Destroy manufacturing capacity starting with ball bearing factories.

4. Terrorize the civilian population.

Seems to me Obambi has well in place items 1, 2 and 3 and is starting to work on item 4.

So what’s the truth? How do we even know, when there is so much disinformation and so many lies?
