Rasmussen: Romney has same lead, same day that Obama had in '08
NewsMax.com ^ | July 28, 2012 | Patrick Hobin

Democratic presidential candidate Barack Obama led his Republican rival John McCain by 49 percent to 44 in a Rasmussen Reports daily tracking poll released on July 27, 2008.

Fast forward four years and the GOP's Mitt Romney is holding the exact same lead on the exact same day in the exact same poll, Business Insider points out.

Romney’s five-point lead is the largest by either candidate in just over a month and the numbers closely mirror the 49 to 43 percent advantage Romney has on who voters trust more to handle the economy.

Just 31 percent of likely voters think Obama is doing a good or excellent job handling economic issues, with 48 percent saying he’s doing a poor job on the economy. This comes as consumer confidence fell to a 2012 low this week and the government reported slowing GDP growth.

For June, Obama’s job approval rating was at 47 percent, down two points from May and staying in the narrow range of 47 to 49 percent since the beginning of 2012, according to the Rasmussen poll. In January 2009, 62 percent of voters approved of Obama’s job performance.

Rasmussen said that for Obama to win, “he will need to improve his own job approval rating between now and Election Day. For that to happen, perceptions of the economy will have to reverse their current downward trend.”

The Rasmussen poll also showed that Secretary of State Hillary Clinton remains the most liked member of Obama’s Cabinet, with 53 percent of likely voters having a favorable opinion of her.

Attorney General Eric Holder is the least-liked Cabinet member, with 47 percent of voters who have an unfavorable opinion of him.

Romney isn’t running against McCain, he is running against a monster and a criminal enterprise that is willing to ANYTHING to win.

“Wag the Dog” is very possible.... foreign or domestic.

Unfortunately, the only thing Romney DOESN’T have is the race card. The trump card of American politics. That sucks.

It doesn’t have to suck. Romney can be portrayed as a
“white Obama”, which he is in a lot of ways including skin color and policies.

Here is the key. The economy is going to be the #1 issue in November and I don’t see the economy getting any better between now and November. He is toast. His supposed support is like everything else about him. A Lie.

Not that I doubt it, but is there a link for this?

A guest I heard on the Hugh Hewitt show the other day
said that Romney can’t win on the economy alone. He said
that women voters are the key, and that it needs to be
said that Obama enables those (Muslims, that is) who want
the country to be under Sharia law which severely
restricts women’s freedom. I agree.

O isn’t “slaughtering” anyone.

He has huge leads in rock solid states that Dems always take with ease, but the number of states in marginal categories are his to lose.

No way that he can reproduce his electoral romp over McCain, even with the bogus media calling state after state “too close to call.”

He isn’t taking Florida, I doubt he will breeze through Ohio and he may well lose Virginia, just to name a few.

I’m in Fairfax county, a virginia suburb of DC. This county voted democrat for the first time since 1994.

Polls say its close, but judging by what I hear in public places and private inhabited by dems and independents — its not going to be close.

Its romney all the way.

Don’t be afraid. romney’s gonna win this by 10-15 points. The only way Obama wins is if Christ raptures His church between now and then.

“And yet Obama is slaughtering Romney in the EV count. We are being manipulated.”

Yes we are being manipulated. And don’t look for the bogus Polls to apologize after the election for being so wrong—they don’t care because that is not why they exist.

OTOH, don’t believe those same bogus Polls in OH, VA, FL, CO. Like one critic pointed out about the supposed 8-point Obama lead in Ohio: Romney’s lead among Independents would force you to consider that Obama was getting 20 percent of Republicans. Right!

The fact is that, people are going to LIE to the people who do the polls so they are not accused of “racism” what they do in the privacy of the polling place is a whole different ball game.

Romney by the same numbers as you have mentioned.

Why wouldn’t Obama poll 20 percent of “Republicans”? LBJ did even better than that. Some of our “Republicans” are as useless a one-legged clothespin. I wish it were not so.
