The latest indication of how rapidly the frack sand mining industry is growing in western Wisconsin can be found on Wall Street. Houston-based Hi-Crush Partners LP, whose sole operation is in the tiny Monroe County town of Wyeville, wants to raise $200 million in an initial public stock offering. In operation for a little more than a year, the Hi-Crush mine has experienced rapid growth. Trains with more than 80 cars regularly depart with tons of sand for delivery to the oil and gas production industry.

One thing you can count on, Americans will always look for a way around the BS policies and laws created by the laughable morons and buffoons that WE send to Washington.

The mining also is attracting complaints from environmentalists concerned about health hazards that could come from airborne silica particles resulting from the mining activity.

Only in Enviro Wacko Land could a pure natural sand, known as "Wisconsin White" be considered an environmental hazard. Sounds like a health food additive to me.

On first reading, I thought it was a kind (or brand) of cheddar cheese.

Kathleen Gallagher, the author. I called and talked to her about 10 years ago over some anti-gun column she had written.

I’ll bet writing this column, and the publics non-reaction to Aurora, gave her more than a little heartburn.

Some want it, some don’t. Twenty miles north of me is a small Mississippi River town called Fountain City, (Wi). My wife and I drive through many times a year on pleasure drives. Several months ago while driving through that town and the surrounding area, we noticed many anti-fracking signs on people’s lawns. Apparently a fracking operation has been thinking about locating in that area. There were a few pro-fracking signs, but the great majority of the signs were anti-fracking. It might correspond to the numbers of Democrats in the area.
