Former Vice President Al Gore warned of the dangers of the "extremist fringe" of the Republican party winning control of Congress and the White House.

Gore's warnings came in a Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee fundraising email sent out Monday.

"The last thing we want is the Republican Party -- a party that’s been hijacked by an extremist fringe -- to win the White House and tighten its grip on Congress," Gore writes. "That would spell disaster for our economy and our environment."

Gore specifically mentions Karl Rove and billionaires David H. and Charles G. Koch -favorite targets of Democrats.

"Karl Rove and the ultra-conservative Koch brothers are pouring millions of dollars into this campaign," Gore continued. "Democrats are depending on the individual support we get from people like you."

Gore's former running mate —former President Bill Clinton- is also getting involved in the upcoming 2012 elections. Clinton will formally renominate President Obama at the Democratic National Convention in Charlotte, North Carolina in September.

"I am fully committed to doing everything I can to make sure we win a Democratic majority to partner with President Obama. I hope I can count on you. Please join me," Gore concludes in the email.

Hmm, Al baby, let's see. When have we EVER had an "extremist fringe" of Republicans take control of Congress? We've had the Republicans take control for the first time in over 40 years in 1994 and it moderated the crap out of Clinton's leftward leanings, in spite of the Republicans not being able to do everything they would have liked.

By contrast, what has control of Congress by the "extremist fringe" of Democrats wrought? The welfare state. The trashing of certain ethnic groups post-Great Society. The aiding and abetting of left wing hate groups and misery pimps like Jesse Jackson, Al Sharpton, and Loius Farrakhan. Obamacare. Metastatic growth of government. I'd like to try as many years with "extremist" Republicans as the socialist Democrats have had since 1930 and see the results.
