Target releases ad featuring same-sex ‘married’ couple
Life Site News ^ | July 30, 2012 | KATIE CRAINE

MINNEAPOLIS, Minnesota, July 30, 2012 (LifeSiteNews.com) – Target is promoting their wedding registry with a focus on homosexual “marriage”. A new ad released last month depicts two men holding hands with the slogan, “Be yourself, together.”

The retail giant has angered both pro-family and pro-homosexual activists as they have apparently flip-flopped in their approach to same-sex “marriage”.

In 2010 Target faced some backlash from homosexual political groups after they gave $150,000 to MN Forward, a political group that supported Tom Emmer, the pro-life, pro-marriage Republican candidate for governor of Minnesota. More recently they have been criticized for their decision not to sell an album by Frank Ocean, who recently came out as homosexual.

But last month the chain began selling same-sex “marriage” wedding cards, and they have supported pride parades in Minneapolis for a number of years. In May, Target sold gay pride t-shirts ad gave the proceeds to the Family Equality Council, a homosexual political advocacy group.

You’ll hear little about this in the media, and what you do hear will be praise. Chick-Fil-A, however, gets raked over hot coals for expressing their Biblical beliefs.

Lovely. Is this being run in a homosexual magazine? Or is it being done in mainstream publications?

I remember about 10 years ago, Anheuser-Busch ran ads in a homosexual magazine...a bunch of people freaked out, but it was just an ad buy targeting that demographic.

Where is Target running this?

Ditto. We need some conservative shopping spots online. The sales will rocket in a week's time.

Target has made an obvious choice on whose business they value. It is not the business of middle America and their families.

It’s time to start doing everything from scratch. Sewing cooking etc. I can purchase food at the local farmers market and eat out weekly at Chic-fil-A. I do need to learn to sew however.

This is not the same country I was born in. The very mood has changed. Nothing is stable or safe. It’s quite frightening how much worse off this country has become in such a short amount of time.

So if hetero’s protest this then they’d be labeled as intolerant but it’s okay to harass Chick-Fil-La? In Brisbane we have a Target. Actually it’s a checkpoint when flying into Archer Field. Big huge target on the roof. Certain ideas come to mind.

They used to support veteran groups. I wonder if they still do that anymore. I do 99% of my shopping at WalMart. The rest is on-line and not at Target or JCP websites.

“Target has made an obvious choice on whose business they value.”

When I was getting my MBA in 2005, Wal-Mart shoppers averaged $25,000/year income and Target shoppers averaged $75,000. My guess is that Target knows who their shoppers are and made a risk decision to pursue the gay market segment believing that their larger shopping base is liberal and would not change to another store based on this move. It’s probably a decision that won’t hurt them as your typical Volvo driver doesn’t care one way or the other.

I never studied JC Penny. My guess is they didn’t know their clientele and they made a bad call. Star Bucks, on the other hand, have an elitist, yuppie clientele who will revel in making an additional statement with their increased patronage.

I write this while munching on my Chick-fil-A salad: $5.98. The clerk tells me business is up. The parking lot was 75% full at 5:00pm. The store had at least 10 employees working very fast. I don’t think Chick-fil-A will be hurt. I’ll bet sales everywhere except San Francisco are up.

Same for Bass Pro Shops.

From Wikipedia:

Target Corporation, doing business as Target, is an American retailing company headquartered in Minneapolis, Minnesota. It is the second-largest discount retailer in the United States, behind Walmart.[6][7] The company is ranked at number 33 on the Fortune 500 as of 2010 and is a component of the Standard & Poor's 500 index. Its bullseye trademark is licensed to Wesfarmers, owners of the separate Target Australia chain which is unrelated to Target Corporation.

The company was founded in 1902 in Minneapolis as the Dayton Dry Goods Company, though its first Target store was opened in 1962 in nearby Roseville, Minnesota. Target grew and eventually became the largest division of Dayton Hudson Corporation, culminating in the company being renamed as Target Corporation in August 2000. On January 13, 2011, Target announced its expansion into Canada. Target will operate 100 to 150 stores in Canada by 2013, through its purchase of leaseholds from the Canadian chain Zellers.

Here’s the long and short:

Capitalist economy allows for businesses to do whatever stupid things they want.

Target thus can take such a evil stand to cater to less than 2% of the population if I wants to.

And if those who CLAIM to be Christians and Bible-believers would actually stand on biblical truths in their shopping decisions, this crap would be rare. Home Depot would be out of business and Target would be rethinking this stupid position.

I just had a talk with the wife. We don’t normally do things like this, but we’re out. We will travel a couple extra miles a month to divide the money we currently spent at Target between Walmart, Sam’s club, and Kohls.

I know they won’t feel the $150 to 200 a month we spend there but we’ll feel better about it. I’m not anti homosexual. I just don’t want my children exposed to the notion that this kind of lifestyle is normal.

Doctrinal purity is never expected nor demanded from the world. As Paul said, we’d have to leave the world to stop associating with the wicked (1 Cor. 5:9-10).

Christians have confused America with ancient Israel, as if GOD was leading us in a cloud. Their history is proof that even believers are felled by the stubbornness of sin. “If it is hard for the righteous to be saved, where will the ungodly and the sinner appear?”

Believers in Christ are the true counter-culture. Instead of these fruitless snits over commerce, we should be countering the Lie everywhere it is found by declaring the Truth. Those that have ears to hear it will, and those who do not will be hardened.
