FORT WORTH — For much of the past year, things looked bad for the tea party. Polls showed little new interest from voters, and its favorite presidential contenders flopped in the face of Mitt Romney, who was denounced within the movement. But the final days of the Republican Senate runoff in Texas suggest that the tea party may be reshaping itself into a political operation with long-term viability.

On Tuesday, GOP voters will choose between former state solicitor general Ted Cruz, who has benefited from intense tea party support, and Lt. Gov. David Dewhurst, an establishment Republican and protege of Gov. Rick Perry. Dewhurst finished first in the primary in May but did not win a majority, forcing the runoff. According to recent polling, Cruz may be in the lead.

Talking to liberals today, they loved him [JFK] because he WAS a 'liberal'. Having lived during that time, I have the pleasure of informing them that comparatively, he wasn't. Then I get to sit back and watch their heads explode.

JFK was a liberal back in a time when liberals were still expected to love America and to honor the US Constitution.

Show this to your liberal acquaintances:

"Finally, some good news. I just wished it could become so “viable” as to push Romney off the ballot!"

I just heard on the radio that Romney will be naming his running mate very soon!

“All this “I don’t like Romney” accomplishes nothing if you can’t specify a replacement who would do better.”

Oh tosh! Anyone even remotely conservative would be a better POTUS than Romney AND would promote conservatism. Romney is NOT a conservative......not remotely.

“I just heard on the radio that Romney will be naming his running mate very soon!”

A dubious distinction that no wise person would want.

We had Newt, Santorum, and Romney. The people who liked Newt didn't like Santorum, and the ones who liked Santorum didn't like Newt, so we got Romney.

The field was a bit too divided, all the way to the end.
