Glenn Beck's 'Restoring' Love Rally Proves The Tea Party Isn't Dead

Conservative, doom-and-gloom Tea Party icon Glenn Beck says he is on a new mission. A mission for love.

More than one year after his Fox News departure, Beck — accompanied by a gospel choir, an orchestra, an exact replica of the Liberty Bell — made his comeback official this weekend, delivering a history lesson, a religious message, a spoken word performance and a musical and digital presentation to a 65,000-plus audience in the Dallas Cowboys Stadium in Dallas.

The "Restoring Love" event completes Beck's trifecta of rallying calls.

Beck struck a new tone with his audience, aiming for a positive, action-driven message, rather than an attack on a political ideology. But he maintained some of his government finger-pointing that made him famous on cable television, particularly Obama's recent business and government gaffe and the First Lady's "Let's Move" campaign.

Pacing around a cross-shaped stage, Beck told his audience: "We must not become America in name only. We must strive to be the great country that we are," he said. "There are two kinds of Americans. Those who like to be pushed, and those who push themselves."

In the end, the "global Tea Party summit" was vintage Beck, rounding out a trifect of rallying calls that began with his "Restoring Honor," a prayer event in Washington Mall in 2010 and gained international momentum with the "Restoring Courage" event in Israel in 2011. With the "Restoring Love" rally, Beck brought the party back home.

Ted Cruz’s win tomorrow shows a tea party based action-driven message.

I’m not sure what beck is doing. But based on a 3 day event with significant contributions to the DWF community. The media silence is profound. Whatever he is doing, scares the pants off of the establishment, otherwise there would have been some decent coverage. Nothing but crickets.

His message is decent, but we don’t need theatrics.
We need winners.

Much more so than the ravings of Beck, who is guaranteed to bring in no new supporters and most likely continue to drive “us” away through his irrational antics.

Billy Graham probably had a wider impact impact this week.

Beck just seems like a player to me.

I don’t need Benny Hinn showing us the light.
Lord knows I want to like Beck.

I don’t need Beck to prove my fellow Patriots and I are alive.
We know we are making a difference.

Very well put.

THe only thing I’d say differently is that I once WANTED to like him until he showed himself to be such a comprehensive fraud....which I always sort of suspected. As did Mark Levin, if you listened to him all along.

Beck completely turned me off forever when I was listening to his show one morning and he and his dimwitted sidekick were droning on about how Newt was “as stupid as a shoehorn,” whatever in hell that’s supposed to mean.

In the first place, I guarantee Newt has 20 IQ points on Beck and his sidekick combined. In the second, for all his recent apostacies, Newt did more for the conservative movement in 1994 alone (while Beck was a drunken morning zookeeper) than Beck will do in his entire sorry life.

Beck has a huckster’s talent. Cry the tear when necessary. Regurgiate what you read last night. But he’s got the intellectual depth of your typical 3rd year Poli Sci. student.

Even more sad is that Andrew Wilkow, who I REALLY like, has joined up with his little traveling carnival.

It’ll all collapse soon enough. Then those of us who are serious will welcome the Beck castoffs back with open arms. I for one, won’t even say “I told you so.”

Hank

I didn’t hear a thing about Beck’s rally in the media... not even on Fox News, except on O’Reilly’s show a day or two before the rally.

I will leave it at that.

I really want to like the guy but alarm bells are ringing.

I see charges of fraud and a reference to Elmer Gantry, but I don’t see any support for it.

I really like Glenn Beck. I like him because I believe that he believes what he says and he says it with so much passion. What I would like to ask though is the same thing he asks progressives - What do his words really mean? When he refers to Christians is he refering to his own sect? Is he in it up to his neck for Romney? Is he really one of us or is he a type of False Prophet pitching for Mittens.
