Glenn Beck's 'Restoring' Love Rally Proves The Tea Party Isn't Dead

Conservative, doom-and-gloom Tea Party icon Glenn Beck says he is on a new mission. A mission for love.

More than one year after his Fox News departure, Beck — accompanied by a gospel choir, an orchestra, an exact replica of the Liberty Bell — made his comeback official this weekend, delivering a history lesson, a religious message, a spoken word performance and a musical and digital presentation to a 65,000-plus audience in the Dallas Cowboys Stadium in Dallas.

The "Restoring Love" event completes Beck's trifecta of rallying calls.

Beck struck a new tone with his audience, aiming for a positive, action-driven message, rather than an attack on a political ideology. But he maintained some of his government finger-pointing that made him famous on cable television, particularly Obama's recent business and government gaffe and the First Lady's "Let's Move" campaign.

Pacing around a cross-shaped stage, Beck told his audience: "We must not become America in name only. We must strive to be the great country that we are," he said. "There are two kinds of Americans. Those who like to be pushed, and those who push themselves."

In the end, the "global Tea Party summit" was vintage Beck, rounding out a trifect of rallying calls that began with his "Restoring Honor," a prayer event in Washington Mall in 2010 and gained international momentum with the "Restoring Courage" event in Israel in 2011. With the "Restoring Love" rally, Beck brought the party back home.

I have read every post here, and its nice of you to not watch him, or listen to him and actually judge him. He has never had Mitt on his show because 1. Mitt will not go on. 2. He supported Santorium. He didn’t call Newt stupid, he called him a scum bag. Some would argue that the former ‘historian’ for Freddie Mac has problems. But his solid 12% showing in the primaries speak for themselves.

Glenn is going to drag MItt across the finish line with events planned for Ohio and possibly Florida before the election... His sect has nothing to do with motives unless you want a Kenyan Communist to win a second term.

The other day I turned on the radio just in time to hear GB state how he hates Republicans...again.

I immediately snapped it back off, saying STFU.

Restore this love, ya opportunistic dry drunk.

I have watched him plenty and like I said I like him but I do question his motives sometimes as is my right and really even if he was on the side of Mitt if would not concern me as long as he said so.

His sect or beliefs have everything to do with his motives if his motives are indeed genuine then so they should. If they are ingenuous would be the problem I would have i.e. if he said one thing but had his own agenda which I sometimes question. Is it wrong to question someone in the media or can we only question those who obviously fall on the other side?

Holy crap, I hate the SAME Republicans he does.
Beck openly campaigned for Michelle Bachmann and later Rick Santorum. Santorum was AT this rally.

Beck organized 35,000 people to do volunteer work before this event. He had trucks of food going to different cites to feed people because he says if we don’t do it, the government will. Then people get used to sucking off that teat. He charged 10.00 for the seats in Cowboy stadium saying the “the big donors” would cover the majority of the cost. They didn’t come through. He paid out of pocket.

Each of our big name conservatives has a cause. Beck is just doing his part.

Beck is just doing his part.

If you're a Republican, he hates you! He makes others hate you.

"I didn’t hear a thing about Beck’s rally in the media... not even on Fox News, except on O’Reilly’s show a day or two before the rally."

I doubt you ever will. GBTV is likely to be the beginning of the end for the dinosaur networks. I think he already has as many subscribers as CNN does viewers.

Actually, his stand is EXACTLY the same as FR.
He hates the GOP-e. Head on over to his site. Look at his ONLY pro-Romney shirt. It’s “Romney, at least he is not a Commie”

If you listened to him more than intermittently, you would see how many Republicans he supports. He has given a forum to everyone from Santorum to Cruz. He took a stand against Orrin Hatch and had Dan Liljenquist on his show many times. Michelle Bachmann and Michelle Malkin don’t think he hates Republicans.

He is a Conservative first.

My thoughts exactly. Way too touchy-feely and weepy for me.

"THe only thing I’d say differently is that I once WANTED to like him until he showed himself to be such a comprehensive fraud....which I always sort of suspected. As did Mark Levin, if you listened to him all along."

I agree. Mark Levin was right all along. The last straw for me was when I had his radio show on, and he referred to his audience as his "followers."

He bought one of those big custom-made touring buses. That's not remarkable in itself, but what IS unique is that he has an enormous image of himself plastered on the side of it. The ego is really out of control.

He hates the GOP-e.

He doesn't say that!

He does great damage by painting with us the broad brush. He may be an independent conservative, but he just wants to feather his own nest by appearing "neutral" like the moron Bill O'Reily.

If you listened to him more than intermittently, you would see how many Republicans he supports.

I listened to him plenty, on a daily basis, until he started doing that crap.

One time I heard him say "I HATE REPUBLICANS" and then go into a towering rage when a caller challenged him. He got so wound up and disturbed that he sounded positively mental.

He has given a forum to everyone from Santorum to Cruz.

Yeah yeah yeah, and then he stabs them in the back by saying "I HATE REPUBLICANS" How can he even pretend to be "Restoring Love" with any credibility, when he so freely defecates on the Republican name brand? Glen...HATE HATE HATE!

Michelle Bachmann and Michelle Malkin don’t think he hates Republicans.

I'm sure they do, and so do I, but the casual listener doesn't know that.

That's why he sucks!

There's this little thing called a "disclaimer" where he might want to use terms like RINOs or MODERATES or something to focus his HATRED instead of making all Republicans the target his derision and demonization.

Rush, Hannity and the others seem to be able to.

"He didn’t call Newt stupid, he called him a scum bag. Some would argue that the former ‘historian’ for Freddie Mac has problems. But his solid 12% showing in the primaries speak for themselves."

In the first place, you're wrong. He and his buffoon of a sidekick were yucking it up about how "stupid" Newt is. Again, not supporting Newt is one thing. But for a charlatan like Beck to question Newt's conservative bona fides given his historical stature - YES he does have historical stature - completely puts the lie to all his balderdash. Newt accomplished things. Hard things. In the arena. Dislike him for his apostacies, fine. But if you call yourself a conservative and can't respect Newt for his intellect and accomplishments, you are a fraud.

What was Glenn Beck doing for the coservative movement when Newt was working tirelessly against all odds to win the House for the GOP? Seems like for the most part being a drunken zookeeper. Does that disqualify him as a commentator? No. No more than Newt's marital infidelities disqualify him. But they show what a hypocrite he is.

You can put the word historian in derisive quotes all you want, but Beck spews all sorts of half-baked "historical" analysis, and I guarantee you Newt could school him on every point he makes. Then of course, once he hung up, Beck's sycophant would start blathering about how stupid Newt is again. But only once he hung up the phone.

Beck lecturing Newt on conservatism is like a second-year law school student lecturing Antonin Scalia on the constitution. A joke to anyone who knows the background of the individuals involved.

Historian in quotes is not to attack his knowledge of history, as I am sure you know Newton was a history teacher, it is to point out that he was a lobbyist at Freddie Mac. While being a lobbyist is NOT against the law, it is not what his contract said. While it would be stupid to offer history classes at Freddie Mac, they needed lobyst help on the hill. But Newton couldn’t go with the lobbyist angle because it was hardly PC. Thus 3+ million to be a history whatever.

He polled 12% and never had a chance. In fact he screwed up Santorum’s chances because he would not leave the race when it was clear he would not have an impact. I know some here were waiting for Newt to school Obama in the debates, but Obama would have kept those to a minimum (no more than 2) and 1 would have been with no screaming from the audience.

While Glenn Beck may not be your cup of tea, he has done more to effect the process, expecially the Tea Party than both of us typing little notes. Love him or hate him he is making a difference. I apreciate your imput and would not question your conservative creds.

If you can’t trust a man in the bedroom, you can’t trust him anywhere.
