Rep. Allen West (R-Fla.) is the activist Left’s number one congressional target this election cycle because he poses an existential threat to progressivism, a prominent professional left-wing organizer suggests.
West is “a national rising star in the Tea Party,” Becky Bond explained during a panel discussion at the Campaign for America’s Future’s recent Take Back the American Dream confab in Washington, D.C.
The famously outspoken retired Army lieutenant colonel with the special talent for getting under Democrats’ skin “is going to start to define” what the Republican Party stands for, said Bond, president of the well-funded Credo SuperPAC.

The danger, as Bond sees it, is that if West’s brand of politics catches on nationwide, American politics may shift rightward.
“And he’s a freshman,” Bond said. “If we don’t take him down now, he’s raising millions of dollars, and he’s going to set what the new normal is for the Republican Party.”

If Romney were smart and thinking long term he’d get Allen West and a host of other conservative blacks on a tour of American cities. Get them on the Tom Joiner Show. Get them talking to black pastors about conservative issues that are points of obvious agreement.
We’ve got to cut into the urban politics of Democrats. We’ve got to liberate the plantations. We’re right and they’re wrong. Imagine Chicago going the way of Wisconsin. It would end their monopoly.
I think the Dems are going through a crackup and it’s an opportunity for us. If we can show blue collar Dems that we’re on the side of jobs and growth they’ll vote for us. Over time we can show them that socialism and government help cause great harm. Ignorance is curable.

West is an enigma to the left. Sadly, he’s one to many in the GOP as well. He doesn’t have to stop and wait for talking points. He speaks his mind freely because he KNOWS what his principles are.
War is war. Becky Bond needs to get the same treatment she dishes out for Allan West.

That isn’t the problem. Most ELECTED and otherwise-prominent Republicans have NO CLUE as to who the left is and what they want/plan to do to this country.
Sure they hear just what the liberals want. Just like Tony Snow and Dr. Laura heard Rush (who gets it just like West)...but I heard them both admit that they thought it was AN ACT by Rush to enlarge his audience. Tony didn’t REALLY believe who the left was that bad until he sent his kids to public school, while Dr. Laura found out when she spoke out against the APA attempting to ‘normalize’ pedophilia.
The basic problem is that Republicans tend to be good people, and like the good people in Europe and the US in the 1930s, are simply UNABLE to accept pure evil. So we have to struggle on, with Democrats considered “just a bit misguided” by us, rather than identified for just what they are, as Mr. West and Rush like to do.

I hear a lot of well-meaning but naive conservatives say that the Left wants what the Right wants in that they both want what is "good" for America and Americans, just the means to achieve what's best differ. This is patently false.
The Left wants to destroy everything that has made America great. It want to completely rebuild this country into a Marxist utopia that they envision. This requires the annihilation of all things moral, healthy and good.

For some time we’ve had blacks who see the light, from Thomas Sowell to Larry Elder. It’s just that Col. West comes along at a time when liberalism’s policies have actually been put into practice, and what he says is now being listened to. By blacks.

You are both correct. The ultimate goal of the American left is to DESTROY our culture our beliefs, and our economy, and rebuild it into some IMPOSSIBLE hideous Marxist utopia.
