This listing has all the Republican races today http://enr.sos.state.tx.us/enr/results/july31_162_state.htm
Go Ted Go!!!!
Everyone should imagine that he is ten points behind and act accordingly.
If we can see this through today, this will be a political earthquake, definitely bigger than Lugar’s defeat...on par with the Bob Bennett removal in 2010, but bigger because it is an actual statewide election in a big state with many media markets.
Ted Cruz has a bright future. Maybe one day we can put him on SCOTUS.
Exactly. Hoping though it is a landslide. Go Ted.
I voted Cruz the first day of early voting and have a yard sign. Cruz is going to win.
Don’t forget, Texans need to get rid of Medina and elect Devine to the Texas SC. Essentially the same crowd that backs Dewhurst is backing Medina.
Dewhurst is the definition of "establishment Republican" and if he loses in the Seriously Red State of Texas, the establishment Republicans of Washington, D.C. had best take note.
“political earthquake”: Love it!
For this household, voting for Cruz is a no brainer. Dewhurst, who may not be too bad overall, seems to have run a terrible campaign. His TV ads make you want to vote for Cruz. I have never seen anything so counter productive. Maybe Dewhurst has known he was in bad shape since the first round of voting and has just been flailing out wildly to find something that works. I have no other explanation for the campaign. On the other hand, I will be surprised (pleasantly surprised, but surprised nonetheless) if Cruz wins.
How about other Republican races? I have no idea who to vote for with regard to the Railroad Commission or the Supreme Court. If any of you can direct me to material that will help in this regard, I would appreciate it. I’m looking for small-government, low-tax conservatives, and so-called “social” issues are secondary.
If Cruz wins today... NO RINO GOP SEAT IS SAFE!
“Texans need to get rid of Medina and elect Devine to the Texas SC. Essentially the same crowd that backs Dewhurst is backing Medina.”
That is not much of an endorsement for Devine. I favor Cruz, but I’m sure the “crown that backs Dewhurst” includes some good folks.
Got any other reasons I should vote for Devine?
I voted for Ted Cruz this morning. I wish Ted Nugent was on the ballot.
Turn out is huge in my polling place, folks are real excited. This bodes well for November.
How about other Republican races? I have no idea who to vote for with regard to the Railroad Commission..”
Have met, talked to, listened to and read just about everything on both the candidates. Found no real reason to not vote for either of them. Don’t think I’ve ever seen a race where either candidate would be good. Very important position in Texas because so much of our economy comes from the oil and gas industry and experience is a plus so voted for Smitherman.
Ping to self. Watching and praying for Texas TEA.
Texas, today is our day to be counted!!! I have posted previously, that if Governor, Scott Walker, Wisconsin won his “recall” battle against the Obama forces of evil, Obama would lose his re-election bid. Well......today, you good folks in the great state of Texas, the leading state in the nation, can demonstrate the power of the people by giving Ted Cruz a massive win over RINO David Dewhurst.
Just remember, fellow Texans, the whole country is watching this race today!!! And.....remember the very survival of these United States of America is at stake. if Cruz turns in a massive victory, it is another positive sign that Obama and his Democrat “dirt bag” anti-Americans will be defeated on November 6, 2012!!!
Texans, please turn out in record numbers and insure a major victory for Ted Cruz today, in the Texas Republic!!! Thank you!!! God bless the great state of Texas, God bless all Texans, and....God bless and keep America!!!
Voter enthusiasm is through the roof. The prairie is on fire! There may be more votes cast in the run-off than in the May primary. In Harris County (Houston,) 58,000 Republican votes were cast in early voting for the May primary. There are 70,000 Republican ballots cast in this run-off. Similar story in the San Antonio area. Cruz may win 60-40.
I hope Cruz wins by more than 10 points. What a signal that would be.
Those of us who do not live in the Great State of Texas
wish you success in sending Cruz to the senate.
Give us a credible candidate like Cruz, here in Tn and
we will send Lamar Alexander packing as well!
Hubby and I just put our two votes in the box for Cruz! Steady turnout here in a Republican conservative area. Don’t know of anyone who is voting Dewhurst.
From your keyboard to God’s inbox!
If we had a runoff for the presidential race primaries there is NO WAY IN HELL “Mitt” Romney would have won.
You and your hubby’s vote may end up being historic in a
number of ways.
It would have shown a tested plan to remove even the most
entrenched GOPe’s. And will only embolden Tea Partiers
across the country.
Give us a credible candidate like Cruz, here in Tennessee
and we will send Lamar Axexander packing too.
All the nations conservative eyes are on the great state of Texas. God speed!
Yes, the conservative nation eyes are on Texas! God speed in
sending Cruz to the senate.
Mega Dickey’s Barbecue Dittos, JL.
Now, go do a Scott Walker, Texans.
Wondering how a Cruz victory will affect Perry’s approval rating. He’s gonna have major egg on his alcohol reddened face tomorrow.
Any news on election day turnout?
I don’t live in Texas... :-) But reports on Twitter are that turnout is very high. And my Tea Party friend says that noone she knows is a Dewie voter.
“Ted Cruz has a bright future. Maybe one day we can put him on SCOTUS.”
I just returned from voting in my conservative section of Texas just north of Austin. I always wait to election day so that I can get a feel for the crowd or lack thereof.
The voting was multi-precinct as is common in runoffs. The line was out the door and no one was in the Democrat line. It was at least equivalent to a presidential election in turn out. I asked one of the watchers how it had been earlier and he said it has been heavy all day.
I would guess that the majority would qualify as members of the non-existent Tea Party./s
Based on my gut feel and lying eyes the Rino Elites are going to be much saddened tomorrow...
I live in Houston and am very familiar with Medina, who is sleazier than Dewhurst. If you search you will find that a few years ago Medina’s home burnt down. The story is that Medina was having an affair, and his wife discover it and set the house on fire. Medina tried to help cover up the arson, but the matter went to a grand jury. The grand jury voted to indict, but the GOPe got the indictment set aside. The entire thing was swept under the rug. Here is the Chronicle story:
Medina was appointed by Perry for no reason other than than affirmative action. He has remained immune from criticism because he is a GOPe token “hispanic”. He is support by Perry and the other GOPe officeholders.
I know Devine, and I can say he is a far better lawyer than Medina; he is far more honest than Medina; he is incontrovertibly pro-life; and he is much more of a principled conservative than Medina.
There are no perfect candidates, but Devine would be a significant improvement over Medina.
If you live in Harris County, you might also take a look at Carl Pittman for Sheriff. Pittman was endorsed by Joe Arpaio. Guthrie seems to be another creature of the Harris County R establishment.
I know he was born in Canada so he cannot be President. He could be Atty General though.
They hid the polling place from me. I knew they would likely consolidate precincts, but they put it at a church about 4 miles from my home in a place difficult to find. Then there was a line almost out the door on the Republican side (nobody on the democrat side) as they had to write down the address information from the voter ID or drivers license of each voter - they didn’t have complete voter rolls for each precinct like they usually do. It took a long time. But I was like, hell, they’re not going to keep me from voting with a RINO-e trick like hiding the sausage. Cruz Missile, all the way.
Like Governor Dewhurst, they are not bad people, but they are not what we need right now in Washington, or Austin for that matter. They are ‘Compassionate Conservatives’ with soft hearts and we need people up there who will be willing to vote for possibly harsh austerity measures.
Oh good, I thought I was doing the right thing in voting for Christi Craddick, but I wasn’t quite sure.
“I know he was born in Canada so he cannot be President.”
For the record, Ted Cruz was born in Canada while his parents were working for the oil industry there, but was a U.S. citizen at birth under federal law. I’m not sure if his father was already a U.S. citizen at such time, but even if he wasn’t, Ted’s mother was a U.S. citizen who had resided in the U.S. for more than 10 years, at least 5 of which were after having turned 14, so Ted met the legal criteria to be a U.S. citizen at birth. The prevailing interpretation of constitutional scholars for a couple of centuries now is that a person who is a U.S. citizen at birth under U.S. law is, ipso facto, a natural-born citizen of the United States.
But Ted Cruz isn’t running for president, he’s running for the Senate (which merely requires being a U.S. citizen for the past 9 years), and, as you mentioned, he would be a more natural fit for Attorney General or Supreme Court Justice (which don’t even require being a U.S. citizen).
Talking to a bunch of people the consensus seems to be that Perry has been a good governor, but his time has passed. He has been there too long. His dismal showing as a presidential candidate really has a lot of people scratching their heads and wondering what is up with him.
Perry, the moron that he is, has gone over to the dark side!!! I hate to say it, because i have voted for Perry in the past, but....he is now in the same league as the buffoon VP, of ours, none other then the dumbest human being in the universe, Joe Biden!!
Am praying for a gigantic Cruz victory this evening!!! Come on Texas, lead our nation back to freedom, liberty and opportunity for all!! Voting for Cruz is your political chance to shine out across this great land, now being destroyed by Obama, Biden and their low life, Democrat Party Ilk!!!
I’m not familiar with all of his rulings, but how about Ted Poe for SCOTUS?
Aint that the truth.
As I recall, David Medina actually was indicted by the Grand Jury, but later in a very hush-hush deal the charges were dropped.
Focus on the Family endorses John Devine.
He was well-known for imposing ‘creative sentences’ on offenders. He was very tough, but would give offenders a chance to atone for their deeds and prove themselves whenever possible. I’d LOVE to see him on SCOTUS. He’d be perfect. I would settle for Attorney General.
You done good. I think Craddick’s solid.
I am working a Harris county polling place we have been steady all day and people seem very enthusiastic about November and Cruz’s chances. We are having quite the turn out.
