....When Jacques Rogge refused that request, he did so stating explicitly (according to Israeli reports) that the opening ceremonies were not a fit place to remember the Munich massacre. At that interview, Ms Spitzer asked Rogge point-blank, is it because the athletes are Israeli? Mr Rogge remained stone silent. He would not answer the question.
As if to remind us that outright discrimination aimed at Israel was not exceptional, but was rather part of the Olympic fabric, we learned several hours before the opening ceremonies that members of the Lebanese judo team were outraged that day because they had found themselves unable to practice--Israelis were sharing a mat with them! They complained immediately. Olympic officials put up a wall so that the Israelis would be hidden.
So far, however, the greatest success of the Arab effort to use the Olympics to remove Israel from the family of Man did not take place on a training mat or during an opening ceremony. It took place before the Games began.
On your search engine (I used Google), type 2012 Olympics Homepage. On the toolbar above the days main Homepage picture-of-the-day, click on countries. Then, underneath that same toolbar, youll see a list of regions; click on Asia. As of Tuesday, July 31, 2012, Israels flag is nowhere to be found. Israel is not on the list of participating countries. Palestine is.
According to the official Olympics Homepage, as far as I can see, Israel either does not exist or she has no athletes at the Games.
Perhaps thats why the IOC couldnt remember the 1972 massacre: you cant commemorate what doesnt exist.

They show Israel under the Europe tab, not Asia.
I have not watched, nor will I watch, one second of this farce of an Olympics.
Considering how long South Africa was barred from participating, it's probably only a miracle that Israel is allowed to send a team at all.
I checked and antceecee’s right; Israel is listed under “Europe.” This is geographically incorrect, but perhaps politically correct.
While this isn't as bad as not being mentioned at all, it's obvious that Israel is an Asian nation and is forced to affiliate with the European committees because otherwise the crybabies would boycott.
Through most of its history the IOC has been run by fascists or fascist admirers.

I don't know, I went to http://www.london2012.com and had no trouble finding Israel. Went to the NBC site and learned that Israel's capital is Jerusalem. Don't anyone tell the President. Palestine'scapital is -. Don't tell the President or Chris Matthews that. NBC is destroying the peace process.
Too bad. You just missed five little girls win a gold medal in gymnastics. I cried as I watched the girls receive their medals and the playing of the national anthem. The only American Dream left that Osbama hasn’t destroyed.
I guess the good doctor failed to fact check.
I’ve seen a few seconds of the Olympics over the past few decades, mostly by accident. Quite frankly, the woman’s gymnastics events disgusted me so thoroughly that I didn’t look for long. Why not just call it hoochy-coochy dancing and have done.
You mean, the 1940 Olympics were in Germany for a reason?
Is “Palestine” listed under Asia, though?
