Washington (CNN) – A group of conservative black pastors are responding to President Barack Obama’s support of same-sex marriage with what they say will be a national campaign aimed at rallying black Americans to rethink their overwhelming support of the President, though the group’s leader is offering few specifics about the effort.

The Rev. Williams Owens, who is president and founder of the Coalition of African-Americans Pastors and the leader of the campaign, has highlighted opposition to same-sex marriage among African-Americans. He calls this campaign “an effort to save the family.”

Obama will only get 96% instead of 97% of black votes now.

What about 2016? There will almost certainly not be another black man running for president on the democrat side. Yet the gay marriage plank will still be in the democrat platform. Who will the black church go to then? The NAACP will stay democrat, but there are a lot of blacks who will say to themselves, I am not leaving the party, it is leaving me.

Good for these pastors! Every move that is made toward a moral society deserves our praise.

I think Black Pastors may be one of the few groups that could make a difference in restoring family values to the inner city ghetto culture.

They need to kick some sense into the bangers.

I agree. They know the outcome of rejecting God’s laws.

Chick-Fil-A needs to send this man a large donation. Watching the left convulse would be fun.

I really didn’t think they had it in them... I honestly thought they saw, keeping a black president in office as the holy grail of black politics and not even Jesus Christ could get between them and their man... thank God there are still some God fearing folks out there in the black spiritual community... thanks for taking a stand for Jesus my black Christian brothers and sisters.

So it will be interesting to see these pastors targeted and smeared in the same manner as Chik-Fil-A.

We know that won’t happen, just like they won’t target and smear muslims who believe in killing homosexuals.

It isn't just time, it is time and effort. If we reach out to them and candidates make the effort, conservatives can pick these people up. Remember, I am not writing about every black person, but the "black church." Yes, there are some Reverend Wrights, but there are far more churches that are very conservative culturally.

Black Christians gave Bush the Younger his second term because Kerry was pro-abortion and pro-homosexual marriage.

Rove courted Black pastors in Ohio and the increase in the Black vote for Bush in 04 over 02 was more than the total difference between him and Kerry in Ohio.

Had he lost Ohio, Florida would have been meaningless. He would have been a one term president like his father.

Romney will not draw as many votes away from Obama. However, he could draw enough votes to swing a tight race. So this is a very good sign.
