A Mission man is being bars after getting into an argument about his illegal drug use and stabbing a family member nine times.
Mission police arrested Alberto Ramirez on an aggravated assault charge on Monday.
Investigators told Action 4 News that Ramirez is from California but had been staying with family for the past few months.
But police said Ramirezs family became upset over his illegal drug use and confronted him about it.
"He was confronted by the victim and other family members that he needed to stop the illegal use of narcotics and stop the heavy drinking, said Mission Police Chief Martin Garza. He wansn't happy and that's when he retaliated by punching the victim and causing him to hit the floor."
Once on the floor, Ramirez allegedly grabbed a kitchen knife and repeatedly stabbed the victim.
Chief Garza said Ramirez only stopped when another family member grabbed him and pinned him against the wall until police arrived.
The victim was taken to the hospital and has since been released.
Ramirez appeared before a municipal court judge on Tuesday morning where he was issued a $200,000 dollar bond.
Authorities filed an immigration detainer against Ramirez after he allegedly admitted to being in the United States illegally.

I guess when you do an intervention these days, you should have a Taser handy, just in case.....
The family are probably illegals too.
Deport the whole bunch!
The best time to do an intervention is not when the person is three sheets to the wind or high as a kite, obviously.
It’s hard to catch some of these guys when they’re actually sober;)
Try him and if found guilty, execute him for attempted murder. Time for appropriate justice.
If we had decent border control, there would be fewer maniacs like this in the country. Since we don’t, we have to pay to incarcerate him, because if we merely gave him a short sentence and deported him, he’d be back at his earliest convenience.
Will he be invited to family reunions after he gets out of jail?
Might very well can be if he studies real hard and comes out with GED, sign up him for Obamas dreamers policy.
