AUSTIN Ted Cruz, the top appellate lawyer turned tea party favorite, shocked the political establishment Tuesday, grabbing the GOP nomination for U.S. Senate and virtually guaranteeing that hell be Texas first Hispanic senator.
Cruz handily defeated Lt. Gov. David Dewhurst in a Republican runoff for the seat of U.S.

He's not Hispanic. He's a Texan. Remember the Alamo!
Sweet!
It almost sounds approving, and worse, truthful.

Actually he was born in Canada.
Why label every fricking person as ethnic? Cruz is American. We are all Americans. Stop dividing us into categories based on ethnicity, color, national origin, religion etc. A person is either a patriotic American or he is not. That is all that matters.
I'm sure the GOP-e was only "shocked" that they couldn't muster enough sheeple votes to beat the Tea Party candidate with their usual bag of tricks and truck loads of money.
I think they know their days are numbered, and that we're coming for them. They may have managed to get their boy Romney in play, but the rest belongs to us.
Perry and Palin
The results were a blow to Gov. Rick Perry, who joined several statewide constitutional officers in a strong, late-hour push to rescue Dewhurst. Perry appeared in several ads on Dewhursts behalf. But after Perrys own debacle in the GOP presidential primaries last fall, one independent polling firm found that as a political prize, he was a distant second to Palin, the 2008 vice presidential nominee who worked hard for Cruz.
Rice University political scientist Mark Jones said Palin performed an indispensable service for Cruz. In mid-May, after a pro-Dewhurst super PAC ran TV ads claiming Cruz was against property tax cuts in 2005 and was soft on Chinese ripoffs of U.S. intellectual property, Palin appeared in ads vouching for Cruzs conservatism. She helped inoculate him, Jones said.
Heh heh heh ... ditzy broad from AK ... heh heh heh ....

The lesson here is that the Tea Party is a force to be reckoned with.
And Ted will do all he can to regain the Senate.
Romney can stand bye for the **** storm that is coming if he crosses us.
I got an E-Mail from Senator Imhofe begging me to contribute $2000 to Dewhurst. I immediatly unsubscribed to his e-mail list and told him he should have backed Cruz, like Palin and Demint.
Time to Tea Party!!
Funny....Dewhurst tried to push through a state income tax in Texas. Bet none of his ads dropped a dime on that little factoid. Frikken Dem-RINO.
Amen, and pass the ammunition.
It’s our best shot at regaining America.
The sad part is Obama has stuff all set up to go into effect in our watch.
We need strong folks to see us through all the blame we will get for his lousy policy’s.
Finally, some great news!
Awesome win-taken away from the elites hold back to the people.
Bravo!
Wow, congratulations Ted. If we can surround Romney with a bunch of new Senators even the Nervous Nellies should be calmed.
The DMN seems to be slowly, slowly trying to work their way back to a centrist position from the extreme far left they’re on right now. Something about how their revenues seem to keep declining the further left they go.
“The lesson here is that the Tea Party is a force to be reckoned with. And Ted will do all he can to regain the Senate. Romney can stand bye for the **** storm that is coming if he crosses us.”
This is huge. It’s going to be pretty hard for the Grand Old Potty to ignore this. They need to be flushed and they know it.
“They....they.....they....” forget it. These people get elected because of the way people think and act not some mysterious Wizard of Oz behind the scenes. In four years the Tea Party will be considered “establishment”.
But .. but .. but .. those Tea Party hicks are just a bunch of old racist white guys LOL
My only concern is that Nolan Ryan backed Dewhurst.
Same with the Startle-Gram.
Buncha leftwing Kansas City faggots.

This race sure did smoke out some very high profile establishment types, didn't it?
I think the Cruz/Dewhurst race is a pivotal moment in the emerging battle for the ownership of the GOP. There's going to be a rapid withdrawal of support for those who were on the wrong side of it.
The devastating numbers really tell the story. You can bet the moderate wing of the Republican party is reeling tonight, because of them. Those numbers are saying that the people are fully awake, and are watching every move their elected representatives are making.
If their record shows that they're not onboard with the goals and purposes of the Tea Party, it's only a matter of time until it's their turn to be ousted.
What has really changed with-in the Tea Party movement, besides credible candidates is the level or at least close to
level playing field these Conservative Superpacs have created.
With a good candidate, a level or close to level playing field, no HOUSE OR SENATE RINO is safe. None.
Where these RINO’s have always had the Big Money advantage and scared away other possible candidates, the Conservative
Superpacs have counter-balanced enough to make it level.
And with a level or close to level playing field, the GOPe’s
Astroturfers are no match for REAL Conservative Grassroots Armies.
What an absolutely delightful headline!!! I’m loving this.
“My only concern is that Nolan Ryan backed Dewhurst.”
Wellllll ... Nolan will see that we just played The Grand Old Potty a little chin music, then, won’t he?
I see it occasionally when I eat at Chick-Fil-A, or online. They are slowly, slowly sliding back towards the center and apparently hoping nobody notices. FYI, their classified ads section is now down to just one page during the week.
What? By electing a quisling Dem-RINO for president? I'm of the opinion that a straight-up fight would be our best shot to regain our country.
To hell with compromising our timeless American principles for the sake of winning an election, if all we're going to do is put a liberal Republican in office. Better to bring on the Second American Revolution!
We often say, “there’s no Reagan waiting to carry the torch”.
Now...I’m not so sure.
This could be big.
It’s Obama or Romney at this point.
Unless all hell breaks loose at the convention that’s what we have to work with.
I voted to deny Romney the delegates to become the nominee.
But here we are.
With a good candidate, a level or close to level playing field, no HOUSE OR SENATE RINO is safe. None.
Now watch the RINOs circle the wagons and attack the superPACs. They'll stoop at nothing to maintain control of the party. They're as corrupt as the Dems - their partners in crime.
“To hell with compromising our timeless American principles for the sake of winning an election, if all we’re going to do is put a liberal Republican in office. Better to bring on the Second American Revolution!”
I feel the same way, but to be honest I thin I’m more the old bull on the hillside talking with the young bull at my side, looking at the herd of cows below ...
Sadly so.
They may not have a choice. Many of the big donors of the past aren’t real happy with the RINOs right now and are giving to the SuperPACs instead. Which the RINOs would need to get elected at this point.
Why give these Rino’s a chance to change?
Let’s just be done with them. They had their chance.
Why take a risk on them. Just replace them.
Maybe we don’t need ‘a’ Reagan. Maybe what we need is a lot of Reagans, a la the end of V for Vendetta.
I'm sorry that that may be a paraphrase.
My point is that the have to get the Bad out before we go after the Ugly.
True. But his mother was American, which means he's eligible.
That will doubtless be news to a certain set of morons who know who they are and will self-identify in due course.
No doubt we will have to choose our battles.
Maybe we will get lucky and more RINO’s will retire
(Like That RINO HACK Congressman from Ohio)
So we could attack anyone who don’t support Cruz as racist. We have to learn from the Rino who believe in identity politics as much as the left
That is indeed all that matters!
Their boy Romney is first and foremost a political animal. If he sees the writing on the wall, he may not completely suck if he wins.
What’s an “Hispanic”? Isn’t that a made up word?
Cruz is certainly a citizen and has been one for more than long enough to be eligible to the Senate and the Supreme Court, but not the presidency - but then neither were McCain or Obama eligible to the presidency and that didn't bother the Republican or Democrat leadership. Neither are Rubio or Jindal, but If we want a conservative Hispanic President Suzanna Martinez is not the only possibility, but certainly one I'd vote for if she could get by the Rino block.
Perhaps Cruz will have the courage to cite and explain the common law and precedent next time his party decides its time to ignore the Constitution because its party's war horse feels entitled, in spite of the Constitution. Rinos did their best to block his candidacy. He might be inclined to nail the country club republicans with the truth that had they not supported the ineligible McCain, with major help from the Obama campaign committee, who sponsored two Senate bills, SB 2678 and SR 511 in Februrary and April 2008 respectively, to imply they had rectified McCain's ineligibility, they might have done their job and vetted Obama, born to an alien father and thus not a natural born citizen.
